Review brief: CAPSULE'S REVIEW Amateur Angels 1 (128 min.) Featuring: Zana, Anne Marie, Jasmine Klein, Alexandra Silk, Veronica Velour, Violet Blue, and Kimi Lixx Synopsis: These "Amateurs" do their "thang" in front of the camera. Overall: There is nothing special about this DVD at all. It is bland. DVD Quality: There are no major noticeable flaws to discuss. Extras: The cast bio is a good example how style over function results in a disaster. The font is in cursive, which makes it very difficult to read. The Behind-the-Scenes footage is okay, but nothing spectacular. Unless you are a Kimi Lixx fan, you can skip this one. Rounding out the extras is an average slideshow feature.

Review brief: This Cal-Vista shot-on-film feature from around 1984 has very little to recommend it. The sex is routine. Even the delightful Janey Robbins, one of the unsung heroines of early porn, is largely wasted. The plot has stewardess Juliet Anderson wanting to be the first female pilot on her airline, with sister Tara Aire trying to help her along. There are alot of shots inside airliner shells, and outside of windows during flights, and pirate shots at airports, but we've seen it all before in better films from that era. This film features an extended mud wrestling scene, so if you can remember the mud wrestling fad of the 1980s, you can date this film. On the bright side, the film quality is excellent, and the transfer to DVD is very good as well. Technically the disc is very good.

The video is slightly grainy, and has a similar quality to a VHS tape of the same age. The lighting is done pretty well, and there arent many shadows that interfere with the action. It does have a bit of slow motion, which is really puzzling as it happens during one of the slower moments and only brings things down a bit.

The Chameleon is a 1989 porn classic directed by John Leslie and starring the insatiable Tori Welles. I have it on loan from a friend considerably more versed in 80s pornography than myself, but was still quite interested to see it. Unlike other classics Ive reviewed, this one actually turned out OK and succeeded in stimulating body and brain with its eroticism. Definitely a good choice for couples if they can get past the funky hairstyles. Hairstyles aside, the women were natural-looking the only departure from that department being Toris breasts (which were still a sight to behold). The sex wasnt as hot as contemporary offerings but the eroticism was right up there, and there were merits for this film in not just being about inter-genital reciprocation. Tori really carries the day with her performances and voracious appetite.

Two Hearts is a very soft, couples-oriented flick from Vivid Wave, starring Ona Zee and a young Racquel Darrian. Its a fairly standard set-up with Ona and Racquel sharing the spotlight equally. The plot was typically corny and poorly acted, sub-par even for a Vivid film, but it was light and inoffensive and Im not going to be unnecessarily harsh in this review. One warning though I clocked this DVD in at a very lean 67 minutes and I believe the VHS version is closer to 86! The big 90s hairdos aside, the women in the cast were attractive with nice bodies ranging from Onas firm voluptuousness to Racquels lean lines, and Kym Wildes natural appeal somewhere in the middle. Another thing to note is that the sex is filmed for couples and is fairly light, with a lot of R-rated shots and some missing pops. I think that actually worked to the movies advantage given the market it's aimed at. The direction was decent and the A/V quality was surprisingly good for such an old feature.

The narration is supported, as is the rest of the film, with a jazz-inflected score that more often than not, makes the film come alive with the sound of Muzak. Purporting to have a plot, EURO COLLEGE BUDDIES is actually a series of nearly un-related scenes concerning the sexual exploits of a group of University students. The framing device is laughable; these hot young men - each and every one uncut, must finish a written exam before being dismissed from class, where they can then get onto their sex-filled lives.

I had to crank the audio about twice as loud as I normally do to even hope to try and hear things. If this isnt enough, theres a lot of outdoor noises that dominate the outdoor audio throughout most of the feature. The video is a little fuzzy, and pretty similar to VHS quality. The lighting is very inconsistent, with some overlit areas and some areas that are plagued by shadows.

Review brief: Another Metro compilation. Do I really need to elaborate? Okay, I will a little... Running time: 118 minutes, 8 scenes. Playstation 2 compatible? Yes. Xbox compatible? Yes. Features: Does "Play" count? If so, this baby's loaded! Nothing, not even crappy trailers for their other crappy DVDs. The Stars: Let me preface this by saying that the cover to this disc out-and-out lies. The scenes depicted on the artwork are nowhere to be found on this disc, therefore I wouldn't take any names mentioned on it for granted. There are a few familiar faces, but God knows I can't remember who the hell they are. I'll just address them according to hair color/features/size. Scene One: A short redhead and a brunet doff their pants the second the scene starts. There is some conversation, but it naturally makes no sense, since it's taken out of context. Honestly, it probably didn't make a lot of sense when it was IN context either. The redhead kisses and licks assorted bodyparts on his way down to the brunet's cock. Bad Wives is a Vivid feature with an impressive cast, and is also considered a porn classic. Unfortunately, like most classics its not everything its cracked up to be. It seemed fairly run-of-the-mill to me more elaborate, well-filmed and well-acted than a normal porn film, but nothing spectacular. In particular, a number of non-sex parts dragged out and I thought the ending was a disappointment (but I wont spoil it). The sex itself was pretty good for Vivid, and there was quite a lot of it; the cast was good too. I thought Id point out andyblakes review, for his warning about the excessive cutting of the movie. I havent seen the VHS version so I cant comment on whats been lost from the original movie, but this might explain why I wasnt tremendously impressed. Something to be aware of at any rate. Overall, I found Bad Wives a fairly mundane feature.

Review brief: Matador 9 (18 holes) is the latest release in Private's excellent Matador series. As one has come to expect from director Yves LeCastel, the movie is focused on nasty anal sex with pretty girls from Eastern Europe. All the scenes have been shot outside, on a golf course. The lighting is excellent (shot on a sunny day), and scenery is great. The girls are pretty, and the male cast includes the mighty Lexington Steel, who appears in two of the best scenes. Unfortunately, Matador 9 is not very good. It is still okay, as a solid anal DVD, but quite disappointing compared to other films by Yves LeCastel. The whole movie appears uninspired, timid, polished, almost (I find this hard to say) boring. First of all the hardcore content is a lot weaker than usual. No DPP's, no DAP's, and only one DP... (just compare this to Assman 12, or Matador 3) The anal shots are okay, but fairly standard (well, except for the Lexington Steel scenes, of course). Review brief: This Cal-Vista shot-on-film feature from around 1984 has very little to recommend it. The sex is routine. Even the delightful Janey Robbins, one of the unsung heroines of early porn, is largely wasted. The plot has stewardess Juliet Anderson wanting to be the first female pilot on her airline, with sister Tara Aire trying to help her along. There are alot of shots inside airliner shells, and outside of windows during flights, and pirate shots at airports, but we've seen it all before in better films from that era. This film features an extended mud wrestling scene, so if you can remember the mud wrestling fad of the 1980s, you can date this film. On the bright side, the film quality is excellent, and the transfer to DVD is very good as well. Technically the disc is very good.

One warning though I clocked this DVD in at a very lean 67 minutes and I believe the VHS version is closer to 86! The big 90s hairdos aside, the women in the cast were attractive with nice bodies ranging from Onas firm voluptuousness to Racquels lean lines, and Kym Wildes natural appeal somewhere in the middle. Another thing to note is that the sex is filmed for couples and is fairly light, with a lot of R-rated shots and some missing pops. I think that actually worked to the movies advantage given the market it's aimed at. The direction was decent and the A/V quality was surprisingly good for such an old feature.

Review brief: What a great concept! Take a couple of porn stars to a major city, hit a few clubs, pick up some guys off the street and throw them into a porn shoot with one of the stars! Thats what this first installment of Blades Real World attempts to do but falls rather short. The box cover states it was an AAAA AVN winner but Im not sure for what as I didnt find it to award winning in my book! Shot in documentary style we first see Dino Dimarco and Grant Wood at the airport on their way to Raleigh-Durham, SC. They are headed there to do a benefit fashion show, some appearances at local clubs and so forth. Its fun watching them off the set and in everyday surroundings as they joke with the camera and so forth. Blade Thompson is behind the camera. After the fashion show a fan of Grants appears and they ask him if hed like to be in a scene with Grant. Hes all for it and has a big ass smile on his face! That lucky dog! Review brief: Matador 9 (18 holes) is the latest release in Private's excellent Matador series. As one has come to expect from director Yves LeCastel, the movie is focused on nasty anal sex with pretty girls from Eastern Europe. All the scenes have been shot outside, on a golf course. The lighting is excellent (shot on a sunny day), and scenery is great. The girls are pretty, and the male cast includes the mighty Lexington Steel, who appears in two of the best scenes. Unfortunately, Matador 9 is not very good. It is still okay, as a solid anal DVD, but quite disappointing compared to other films by Yves LeCastel. The whole movie appears uninspired, timid, polished, almost (I find this hard to say) boring. First of all the hardcore content is a lot weaker than usual. No DPP's, no DAP's, and only one DP... (just compare this to Assman 12, or Matador 3) The anal shots are okay, but fairly standard (well, except for the Lexington Steel scenes, of course). I mean, Yves LeCastel used to include lots of anal cowgirls and deep anal missionaries. Now there is just one of each.
