Directed by David Luger [Note: I am not a fan of a throat gagging, so my overall rating of this film might be slightly biased.] SCENE ONE : Lola is a 24-year-old who starts with the answering of questions. Theres a small bar across the bottom of the of the screen thats through the entire opening credits. I think Ive seen the same LA backdrop before, so Im pretty sure its just that worn out. When the actual movie starts, the video gets back up to Wickeds normal above average transfer. The audio is pretty good, especially for the age of the feature.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody whos curious about Jules Jordans style but doesnt want to get into anything too nasty Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants to see the nastier side of Jules Jordan Audio /Video Quality: The audio varies a bit. Although there are a few background noises, the biggest problem is the balance. Some areas are very quiet to the point that I went from hearing the scene just fine to barely being able to hear anything. The video is much the same way. Theres a small amount of grain throughout the entire feature, but the lighting leaves a bit to be desired.

The Spa should be enjoyed most by couples and viewers that like a plot with their porn. Viewers who hate a plot with a passion or require anal or nastier sex will definitely want to pass on this one.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of Devon and Jules Jordan Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants high technical aspects Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty average for lower budget gonzo. The audio is pretty good, and normally clear, but theres more than a few background noises. The video uses the standard gonzo view as well as a POV perspective, and normally has a little bit of grain. There are quite a few lighting problems, but they normally only last for a few seconds before theyre corrected. Theres also a few of the usual soft focus problems, as well as a few relics and a bit of grain.

Review brief: Overall, not the best film to have come from New Era's studios. The sex is fun to watch but the plot is frankly rather boring. The sex is slightly harder than Bob Chinn's usual for New Era, which is a nice change. If you like the cast and Bob Chinn's style you might consider picking it up if you can find it on sale, other than that I would pass on this one.

Review brief: This film is a historical curiosity in that it is one of the first (if not THE first) gay porn films to stress safe sex.
