Babes in Black is an obvious spoof of the hollywood blockbuster Men in Black and is the fourth feature from James Avalon over at Red Light District. I still haven't seen Darkside, his first yet, but I suspect BiB to be his weakest feature. Let me tell you why. This movie is shot in HD and this is a problem when Veronica Stone is one of the leads in this movie. Veronica is a very cute girl with a great body that I love watching, but I certainly don't love watching her in HD. The HD reveals every flaw in her facial complexion or at least the vast amounts of makeup that tries to cover it. The storyline for those familiar with the hollywood movie is that aliens have infiltrated the earth conveniently in the form of male strippers and the Babes in Black are assigned to get rid of them. Just based on the cover, I'm expecting a lot out of this title. The Action: The movie opens with a couple sitting on a couch in a futuristic apartment. He is trying to convince her to put on a virtual reality (VR) headset so they can have some cyber sex. She hesitates saying even the though of sex can get them arrested. He persists, and soon they are cybersexing. The camera cuts back and forth from the cybersex action to reality. VCA normally does a great job with their DVDs, so Ive got fairly high expectations for this DVD. Initial Reaction: Wow. Once again VCA shows how amazing a well made DVD can be, especially when combined with an excellent movie. Audio /Video Quality: Both are excellent. The picture is crystal clear with no faults that I saw. The same can be said for the sound. Music: The music in the movie is the closest thing to come to average on this DVD. [read the full review]

"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" I've taken a bit of a break from porn for a while, and I thought, well, I might as well start things off with a good movie. Was I right to start with this one? The Movie: Raw works as a porn comedy. It's not as story heavy as Bliss and no where near as dark. Still, the script is tight and the acting is really strong. Joel Lawrence and Kylie Ireland are engaged. Kylie wants a wedding to top all weddings, but Joel, being a struggling actor, can't afford everything she wants. So, what does he do? He becomes a porn star, and a really famous one at that. Things hit the fan though when his star status goes to his head. The movie is pretty damn funny, and the acting from the leads is really strong. Joel Lawrence has always been a good feature guy, and he lets his comedic talents take over here. The intrigue of Raw goes beyond watching attractive people have sex, beyond enjoying a well-written, funny film. Raw speaks about the varying facets of the porn industry, drawing a sharp contrast between the productions of an Antonio Passolini (the writer/director) and the fuck flicks of Pierre, the director portrayed in the movie. I don't want to sound like I'm writing a college thesis here, but Raw is a lot more than plot, dialog and sex. Raw speaks volumes about the porn industry and even includes actual locations (The Stage) and extras from within the industry (I recognized a couple faces from porn sets.) Joel Lawrence, this film actually stars a man, plays a phenomenal reluctant porn star who rises to the top, becomes an ass, and hits rock bottom. Starring contract stars Juli Ashton, Vicca and Nikita, as well as Nici Sterling and Melanie Stone, "Vortex" employs the same digital special effects and background setting used (and sometimes over-used) in classics like Michael Ninn's "Sex" and "Latex" but they do not distract from fuck and suck scenes (which are, after all, the raison d' etre of porn).The DVD cover art has a simply stunning picture of Juli Ashton, decked out in a skin-tight silver outfit in a quasi-martial arts-action pose. Since attractive packaging is one of the single biggest factors in the sales or rental of a porn video, kudos must go to whoever artfully composed this shot, which manages to show off Juli's fantastic body (yet barely shows any skin!) and conveys the movie's science fiction motif about time travel.
