PREFACE:
I've heard it said that if John Stagliano (and his Buttman character) had his way, he'd make his movies with nothing but tease footage from start to finish.  Tease and womanly body worship is what turns him on, and what gets him off.  If anyone could get away with such a movie in the unforgiving landscape of hardcore pornography, Stagliano would be the one to do it.  He loves tease so much that he's become a master at it, and I always appreciate watching someone do something that they love--especially when it comes to porn.  Stagliano is smart enough to know, however, that tease of itself will only go so far in selling a movie.  Tease, without sex, is just tease after all, and while if properly done that would certainly be enough to get ME off, the throngs of unforgiving porn fans who buy pornography because of the sex would not agree.  Imagine the possibilities though.  Imagine the psycho-sexual situations, ideology, and creative thinking that would be required of such a project to compete in the hardcore market!  Imagine the variety of girls you could cast if there was no pressure for penetration.  You could make the case that Andrew Blake is teasing the shit out of everyone with his movies these days, but I submit there's a much more "hardcore" undercurrent of "soft core" that has yet to be explored.  Don't get me wrong, I would still want my share of good old fashioned penetration, but isn't there room in the world and in pornography to explore all facets of sexuality without hardcore?  Perhaps it's a pipe dream.  Perhaps the mainstream pop culture with its Christina's and Britney's is now taking care of this for us. On the other hand, perhaps Buttman will start making his tease-only videos and like he did many years before with "gonzo", perhaps he'll re-define a new pornographic genre.  The forbidden and unattainable aspects of sex are increasingly going the way of the dodo in our culture.  The sexual tension brought on by that that we want but cannot have is giving way to the need for increasing extremity, intensity and even shock.  Are we too far down the downward spiral of depravity to simply appreciate a woman's body?  I for one appreciate Stagliano's staunch adherence to this increasingly rare art form, and I hope that, as he has done in the past, he continues to inspire imitators.

INTRODUCTION:
That having been said, Buttman's Young Lust looks to be a completely typical Buttman movie. The box cover promises some pretty darn attractive ladies, however, and the assorted shots of these ladies' bottoms in various states of undress do quite a bit to get me in the mood as well.  I haven't seen a proper Buttman video in a long while, so this should be like visiting an old friend.  In a way that's not far from the truth, as this one was shot over 2 years ago (in 2000), and is now just getting it's proper DVD release.  This will be gonzo Stagliano style, with his fabulous good humor and a clear concentration on the ladies' posteriors.  What's more, we get to see these cute things fuck as well, and what could be wrong with that?  Let's see how this installment measures up.

SCENE 1:
LUCIANNA SANTOS & LUCIANO
The Girl

The Gist
Scenes like this are exactly why my compatriot in arms at ADT, Dumblonde, contends that she'd like to see the overall cock size in porn paired down a couple notches.  The story of this scene is that it was simply a bad performer match up.  There's nothing wrong with Lucianna--she's a hottie, make no mistake.  What's more, she's a pro at playing for the camera.  Luciano is not the best cocksman I've ever seen, though, and although I realize he can't control his genes, his cock was simply too big for Lucianna (or she was simply too inexperienced to handle it).  The tease footage, body worship, and Buttman's good humor save this scene from total disaster, but when it came down to the actual sex, for me it was boring and a bit stressful to watch.  A shame really--I think a smaller cock would have done wonders.

The Gist
This is a long and surprisingly cool scene.  Christoph, here is not exactly the guy I've seen in his own movies.  He certainly demonstrates his affinity for gaping (which I don't really understand), but overall he takes his time, and just enjoys gently fucking this absolutely gorgeous girl.  Racy is very sexy, and aside from some concentration showing on her face during the anal, she seemed to enjoy herself.  I know that Christoph did.  I absolutely loved the lengthy tease footage at the beginning of the scene, and I love Buttman's directing style, which is to say that when they're on, he generally just lets the performers do their thing.  It makes for an organic and mutually pleasurable scene.  I especially loved the end where Racy basically gets Christoph off with her feet.  This is not intense sex--but I think it achieves a kind of intimacy, and that's an even more impressive accomplishment in the context of modern pornography.

The Gist
The setting and background of this scene served to kill it.  There's nothing that says "we're shooting a porn video" like having sex in surroundings with distractions that even the viewer can't ignore.  Michelle is a very pretty girl, with a great body that is nicely explored by Buttman, but the sex was devoid of feeling because the circumstances they were in.  It's too bad they couldn't use Stanley's office.  They might have been able to concentrate more on each other than on the warehouse workers just on the other side of the false tin wall.

TINA BANKS, REINHARD & MIKE SILVER
The Girl

Thanks to John Stagliano's great love for beautiful flesh, I felt much more attracted to Tina after the scene was over than I did when it began, and this is the sign of a great porn director.  This wasn't the best, or most enthusiastic scene I've ever seen by a long shot.  Tina was quiet, and the guy she was with seemed to be having much more fun than she was.  On the other hand, Tina wasn't exactly a stick in the mud either.  It was a solid, if subdued sex scene that gets by on the merits of scenery and chemistry alone, and the care that Buttman takes in capturing this beautiful intimate act.

PRODUCTION QUALITY:
The production quality is signature Buttman.  John Stagliano holds the camera and basically admires every close-up curve of these girls (with a lot of low angles) until you're about ready to jump through the screen and fuck the girl yourself.  It's hand-held, it's organic and it's intimate.  The only major problem I have with it is that the scenes don't seem to flow very well, and I think this might have to do more with editing than direction.  Snippets of video of the women in various positions are pasted together and they don't seem to follow any logical sexual progression.  The scenes don't build, and they seem very disjointed, which at times left me wondering about what I didn't see, rather than enjoying what I did.

DVD QUALITY:
The video quality varies a bit.  Overall though, it's decent with a little graininess here and there.  The audio quality was typical 1st person camera-esque, where the camera microphone is used for everything, and often that results in not being able to hear the performer's voices very well.  That didn't matter a whole lot though, as most of the performers spoke very little English.

EXTRAS:
The typical compliment of Evil Angel extras resides on the disc.  The requisite photo gallery is included, as well as John Stagliano's biographical information.  The famous fetish menu is here, which allows you to watch snippets from the scenes based on the particular action you want to see (from tease footage to anal sex).  Some cast videographies are included, as well as the not to be underrated "cast list by scene".  The main attraction, however is the extra footage.  This is about 30 minutes of tease and sex footage that was cut from the video.  Included in it is further evidence that Luciano was too big for Lucianna, as well as some more fantastic tease footage with Racy. All the scenes are represented here, and if you liked what you saw in the movie itself, all of it is worth a look. 

OVERALL:
When it comes down to it, the most strokable part of this video is the tease.  Although the sex is ok (most notably in the case of Racy Tracy's scene with Christoph) the close-up exploration of these beautiful girls was the most exciting part for me.  It's no surprise that John Stagliano has made a name for himself in this arena, and I still say (as a proud hardcore sex fan of the most intense variety) that the power and complexity of true tease is largely underrated and yet unexplored.  My favorite overall scene was Racy's, and the privilege of viewing her beautiful body alone was worth the price of admission.  Second on the list was Tina's scene--which probably exhibited the most chemistry between the performers.  Taking up the rear was Michelle's and Lucianna's scenes with Luciano--both of which had their individual problems.  As a hardcore porn video, I'd say this release was quite sub-par, especially in comparison to what John Stagliano is capable of.  However, as a tease and girl exploration video, this was damn enjoyable stuff.  As a fan of intense and dominant sex, I'm not sure how a release like this fits into my everyday pornographic diet, but I can say that it fits somewhere in there--if for no other reason than that it serves to remind us of the pure simplicity of womanly beauty and the powerful manly sexual urges that it inspires.
