My Plaything: Jenna Jameson

Starring: Jenna Jameson, Briana Banks, Michael Lynn
Directed by: Scott Taylor

Review brief: If you're going to produce a two disc virtual sex dvd featuring only one girl, you might as well hire the best. Right now, Jenna Jameson is the best. Sure, some may argue the case for another starlet as being at the top of the pornographic food chain, but there's no denying Jenna Jameson draws more attention, has a wider following, and appeals to more casual porn fans than anyone else in the sex business. She's a true adult superstar. If Michael Jordan was a hot white girl who had sex on film, he'd be Jenna Jameson. Her version of My Plaything does not waste it's high caliber cover girl. It's easy to write the project off, sight unseen, because a girl with a stap-on is standing in for the man who would normally be standing in for us. If your intention is to imagine that it's you taking advantage of Jenna's unequaled body, then here's to hoping you have a good imagination. Admittedly, it's hard to get past the plastic strap-on when it's dick you want.

Review brief: Starring: Sky, Samantha Stylle, Christina, Kamy, Nacho Vidal, Billy Glyde, Jason, Joey, Paul You know what I did on my last day off from work? I slept in, ate a big bowl of cereal, threw out a dead plant, took a nap and watched some TV. Want to know what beautiful porn starlet Sky does with her's? She sucks a stranger's dick, jerks off two others in the back seat of a car, blows some guy she meets at a novelty video booth, has hot sex with Nacho Vidal, and fucks another porn stud inside and outside a luxury hotel room. None of this is at the same time, mind you; it's a long movie with a ton of action. And then there's a staged light saber duel and some very real gun play. What you should be realizing about now, of course, is not only that Sky's free time is much more exciting than mine, but watching Sky's free time is more fun than anything most of us could be doing during our own down time.

Review brief: Starring: Skyler Knight, April Flowers, Mattie Le'Mae, Mirage, Alana Moreno, Jake Steed, Lexington Steele, Byron Long Directed By: Jake Steed Until recently, fans of both little white chicks and big black monster dicks had to buy two DVDs to satisfy their porn needs. It was like the dark ages when future Reese's lovers scoured supermarket aisles for Hershey bars and Skippy. So, you can imagine the delightful singing that must have ensued when well endowed meat packer Jack Steed decided to use his extra large genitals not for evil, but for fucking small girls with pale skin. Noticing cute April Flowers on its box cover, and recognizing the feeling she created in me was something akin to lust, I picked up a copy of Little White Chicks...Big Black Monster Dicks 6 and hoped that I could follow the plot having never seen the first five editions. Bringing Byron Long and Lexington Steele with him, Steed's little movie utilizes more wood than The Spruce Goose.

Review brief: Starring: Jessie St.James, Desiree Cousteau, Georgina Spelvin, Richard Pacheco, Mike Horner Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Wistfully conjuring daydreams and calling them goals, some often say that before they die they'd like to travel the world, or finally read the complete works of Shakespeare. To those people, let me say this: Everything worth seeing in Europe is on top of a hill, and the important characters in Shakespeare all die. Actually, I don't recall anyone dying in A Midsummer Night's Dream, but that's beside the point. What I'm getting at is that these lofty goals are frequently not worth pursuing. Europe is exhausting and Shakespeare is sad. Instead, may I recommend you turn your cultural attentions to classic porn? Nobody gets stabbed with a poisoned sword and everyone gets laid. And sometimes, they have funny haircuts. One of the best, and most overlooked among the "good ol' day" roster of porn titles is Easy.

Soon after Blake's first movie was released, imitators filed onto video store shelves as fast as modern distribution channels would allow them. Almost all of them were an embarrassment. It seemed that the copy-cats missed the point, entirely. Andrew Blake's movies weren't sexy because the actresses wore sunglasses, or because the music was moody. Those movies were sexy because the girls looked better than they ever did anywhere else, and along with being a true professional, Blake understood the power of tease.

That's not too much to ask for, is it? Her body is, to be truthful, celestial. Heavenly. In fact, she may be a real saint after all--the patron kind of aching erections and techno savy masturbators. Watch her in action and understand that theology isn't just for the pious, any more. Unlike my heart, Avena X-tra Edition does not completely belong to Ms. Saint. Her's is only one of five vignettes which make up what is billed an adult video magazine. Actually, it's just a wall-to-wall feature with five separate sex scenes. Yes, they're bigger than life, but they're also a part of American folklore. Their legends have a knack for getting exaggerated over the course of time. One must stretch his imagination quite a bit to buy into the tall tales told in children's storybooks, however, when it comes to Johnny Wad's wad we've got history recorded on film, videotape, and now DVD. His manhood has taken on mythic proportions--deservedly so, or not--but there's no denying the late poster boy for golden age smut packed some serious wood. With their DVD release of Holmes' pimp film Stormy, I'm surprised NuTech Digital was able to fit his entire dick on just one disc. It's a shame, however, the movie contained on that disc doesn't live up to the grandeur of its star's legend.

Review brief: Starring: J.R. Carrington, Brooke Ashley, Star Light, Kimberly Kupps Directed By: Rob Black It's an unwritten rule of mainstream movie making that if you want to make a film without a budget, talented actors, an experienced crew, or marketing support, all you need is liberal portions of nudity and violence, and you can at least make it to video. What happens, then, when you're trying to make a porno with the same limitations? Direct to video is your goal, after all, and lots of nudity is a foregone conclusion. How does a creatively bankrupt porn producer hope to garner a little attention? Well, you put on a freak show and hope the masses confuse extreme with sexy. Gangbang Angels 2 is not the same kind of freak show as one of John T. Bone's uber-gangbangs where 50 guys are disguised as 500. It's still pretty much a freak show, though, but at least director Rob Black is barking his carnival side- show attraction with a little style.

If we were called upon to write essays on irony, tragedy, flawed characters, or any of the other big dramatic topics for discussion, I always turned to that father killing, eye poking, incestuous king for source material. Of course, I didn't know shit about Medea or Troilus and Cressida, but I didn't have to; I had my regal Greek motherfuckers down. Kirdy Stevens' Taboo barely resembles the themes of Oedipus Rex, and we all agree that it's unfair to hold any pornographic work to the same standard of Sophocles' greatest play, and yet I'm gonna do it anyway. Taboo is the story of a boy and his mother.

Ok, the part about suckas in fear is bullshit; it's just that I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to paraphrase L.L. Cool J. But Teri Weigel has been here for years, and that's certainly longer than the pornographic 15 minutes most people gave her when she stepped off the centerfold of Playboy magazine and into hardcore movies. There's a long list of topics he could consider, but that list would be incomplete without the super intense Chloe. I've gone on record as calling her the thinking man's porn star, and I stand behind the claim. Martin Amis (one of my favorite novelists) agrees, as he himself admit in the February 2001 issue of Talk, Chloe is unforgettable. Unfortunately, Chloe's Catalina Cum-Ons, recently released on DVD from Elegant Angel, isn't. Review brief: Starring: Lisa DeLeeuw, Dorothy LeMay, Georgina Spelvin, Susan Nero, Chris Cassidy, Brooke West, John Leslie, Dewey Alexander, Hershel Savage Directed By: Robert McCallum The term "classic porn" is usually an oxymoron. After all, even the very best adult movies were cranked out over a week's shooting and shared little in common with their mainstream counterparts. Deep Throat, for all it's grandeur in the porn world is still a B-movie production. Yet, these "classics" are pretty damned entertaining, and nobody ever got off watching Citizen Kane. Garage Girls is one such classic "good time" kind of movie. It's silly, it's dated, and its jokes fall about as flat as a souffle in a thunderstorm. But, it's also sexy, fun to watch, and worth the discounted price most on-line retailers are charging for it. If you read down the list of credits for Caballero's Sleepless you'll find among the more familiar names a credit for Sarah Bellomo. Though she's buried among more recognizable actresses, she's the actual star of the movie. But that's not the secret. Sarah Bellomo is actually Roxanne Blaze, who like many pornstars, worked under a very temporary alias after first entering the business. That might not be news to some, but for many, Roxanne Blaze equals sex. She was not in the sex-for-entertainment business for very long, but while in front of the cameras Roxanne was placed upon a pedestal and considered by many to be the next big thing. Review brief: Starring: Teri Weigel, Selena Steele, Porsche Lynn, Angel Kelly, Missy Warner, Buck Adams, Randy West, Marc Wallice, Vinnie La Marena Directed By: F.J. Lincoln Wicked Pictures should be applauded for digging through their archives and giving older movies their deserved DVD transfers. The Barlow Affairs is one such title, and even though it's new digital existence gives me great hope for the future, I just don't think it's the best movie Wicked has in its catalogue. It's not a terrible movie, but considering it stars Teri Weigel and Selena Steele, you just expect more. If you think of porn years as dog years, then this movie was made a very long time ago. Here, Weigel is not far removed from her days as a Playboy Playmate. I still think she looks great, but in this movie she appears free from the hardened edges that a decade of porn and stripping on the road can give a woman. Yet, she doesn't bring the heat like she does in other performances.
