Barlow Affairs, The (Wicked) Review

Wicked Pictures should be applauded for digging through their archives and giving older movies their deserved DVD transfers. The Barlow Affairs is one such title, and even though it's new digital existence gives me great hope for the future, I just don't think it's the best movie Wicked has in its catalogue. It's not a terrible movie, but considering it stars Teri Weigel and Selena Steele, you just expect more.

If you think of porn years as dog years, then this movie was made a very long time ago. Here, Weigel is not far removed from her days as a Playboy Playmate. I still think she looks great, but in this movie she appears free from the hardened edges that a decade of porn and stripping on the road can give a woman. Yet, she doesn't bring the heat like she does in other performances. Oh, she still moans and screams like a cave woman, but one gets the feeling that her pairings with Buck Adams and Randy West don't give her the same satisfaction as her couplings with Peter North, who she worked a lot with during the same time in her career. Director F.J. Lincoln, who seems to be more turned on by the movie's upscale locations than the sex, doesn't do much else to inspire the action.

Weigel plays the part of a recently hired consultant who is asked to keep an eye on Porche Lynn's extravagant mansion. If you've seen much upscale porn during the early 90's, then you've seen this house. It's kind of a porn staple. Of course, once she gets involved in this world, Weigel becomes witness and participant to all kinds of sexual goings on. Out on the lawn, for example, Angel Kelly gets it on with Vinnie La Marea. Right away, our heroine realizes this is not a normal assignment.

The plot of The Barlow Affairs follows no logical progression as it is just one sex scene after another. Selena Steele's moment comes next as Teri (again the voyeur) watches her in an elaborate shower with Marc Wallice. I confess, I'm a mark for Selena Steele. She could offer to sell me beach front property in Iowa, and I'd buy it. As for Marc Wallice, I've never been a huge fan, but now his presence seems more distasteful than ever given the things he's done (but that's another story). Here, he and Selena Steele frolic about the shower while Teri masturbates. Eventually, Selena gets her face wet with more than just soapy water.

In a fantasy sequence Porsche, Missy Warner, and Buck Adams pile on each other in a passable scene, but it is Teri Weigel who is the reason for this movie's existence. Finally, she gets in on the action in the following encounter between her and Randy West, who in my opinion, is treated to a far better woman than he deserves. Of course, I'm not sure who exactly has performed enough good deeds in his life to earn Teri Weigel's sexual favors. Unfortunately, other than Weigel, herself, there's nothing outstanding about their scene together. The same could be said for the finale between Weigel and Buck Adams. Granted, they're both energetic performers, and it's always nice to watch two people working hard, but you've seen this all before. I will admit, though, that Teri looks outstanding giving head. As spectacular as her body is, her face is the true turn on.

I'm a fan of late 80's and early 90's porn; that's kind of my personal blue movie golden age. And as far as transfers of those older movies are concerned, this is a good one. It looks great and it sounds clear. Fans of Weigel will want a copy of this movie, and I suspect fans of Steele will want it more, if only because there's not as much of her work transferred yet to DVD. Yet, I've seen Weigel and Steele in so many better things that I'm anxious to see those movies released, too.
