"Saw: A Hardcore Parody" is a very good production from Dick Chibbles that, obviously, parodies the popular mainstream film franchise of the same name. In purchasing this one, I was a bit concerned as to how one would turn a horror series like this into an erotic film. Fortunately for the viewer, this was generally done quite well. The plot is well-developed, with an evil character--much like the one in the "real" films--terrorizing people by putting them in life-or-death situations with diabolical contraptions and then forcing them to make painful decisions. The twist here--other than the sex--is that the entire storyline revolves around the villain targeting adult film industry professionals for their perceived transgressions. The settings are quite realistic and fit well with the plot, and the acting is generally solid. So...what more could one want from such a production? Oh...that's right...hot sex. The first is a good one: the heat thats generated in some of the sequences, particularly the old-school Ginger Lynn segment with John Holmes and the new Dyanna Lauren boy-girl scene, is off-the-chartsso if you have a heart condition or you burn easily, beware. The second warning is of the not-so-good variety: there are some pretty serious technical issues in the new material here. Basically what occurs in this production is a good amount of pixilation (of the horizontal line type) that is particularly pronounced when there is motion. There also seems to be some sort of issue with fast motion itself, as well. It almost feels as though it trails or hesitates a bit across the screen. I didn't see it then, but I am lead to believe that this was a series on one of the adult networks, and this is the DVD and harder hardcore version. Think of it as a Survivor meets Fear Factor reality TV show that focuses on only sexual activities. It's porn reality TV, and it is actually pretty well done. The goal is to see which one of the ladies can or could be a real pornstar. There is a supposed $100,000 prize and a fuck film contract for the winner. Each episode debuts more girls, and they eventually end up with a winner, although this is not the complete series. Personally I hate just about all reality TV shows, but this I found entertaining. While the sequel is a good continuation it stands on its own and starts off by giving you enough info on the first to catch you up to speed. The story of the two films is fairly simple a group of models are shipwrecked on a deserted island or so they think. Soon they find out that Arthur (Jerry Butler) who escaped from prison after being wrongly convicted of murdering his wife is also on the island. At the end of Surrender in Paradise when a ship spotted them on the island the girls had to leave Arthur since if he returns he will be sent back to prison. Pink Lagoon starts off a few years later. The girls return with a film crew to scout the islands and give Arthur some good news. Tammy (Ginger Lynn) and two others who return to the island embrace with Arthur and then tell him that he is a free man. The murderer was found and Arthur was pardoned. Reeling from a recent breakup, Jerry Butler isn't looking for love, or even lust, when he takes a quick vacation to Hawaii with his horndog brother, Jay Serling. Instead, he just wants to be left alone with his own ponderings and ruminations. Encouraged by his brother, however, and also both enveloped by the tropical paradise and having met a stunning, dark-tressed, young woman whom he saves from drowning, he ultimately ends up finding both. "A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" Well, this is the second Digital Playground disc I've seen, and the first I've ever reviewed, so how did it stack up? The Movie: Okay, I'm going to start this off by saying that if you hate movies with a lot of talking and character stuff, then avoid Stripped at all costs. This movie is very dialogue heavy, and all the sex is very spaced out. There are several really well done strip scenes, but I don't know if many would find them all that worthy of wank material. This is a very strong couples film, but is not a very good whack movie. The sex is good, although the scenes are fairly short. I was actually suprised with how the sex seemed almost pushed to the side, but what is there is good, and is fairly hot, and very well filmed. The first scene is between Devon and Barett. Here's my honest opinion: White lightning is a series of sexual encounters linked together by relationships. There was a lot of jealousy and pouting by the characters, who were upset that their significant other was cheating, but then that character would imediately go have sex with someone else. I thought this was a lame attempt at drama. The story line was pretty dumb, even though there was an attempt to make it intresting. The movie was a bit long...to long for my husband and me to wait, so we had to watch the ending later. I thought there would be a twist, or a surprise at the end, but there wasn't. The Dark Brothers' "New Wave Hookers" was an original (before the numerous sequels), hot, hilarious movie upon its release in 1985 and some, but not all of those elements hold up today. The story involves two slackers, Jimmy (Jamie Gillis) and Jamal (Jack Baker), who spend their time drinking beer and watching porn videos. As the movie begins, Jimmy tells Jamal they should become pimps and open an escort service, New Wave Hookers, where the girls would fuck to new wave music. They soon fall asleep, where they are transported into another world: They now run New Wave Hookers Incorporated and have a "dog" (Steve Powers), who telepathically receives phone calls. Their first girl is Candy (Desiree Lane), who skates into their office. Jimmy and the "dog" try her out, while Jimmy watches and masturbates (Jack Baker was actually a legitimate actor, playing Sticks on "Happy Days", and his sexual acts are limited to self-gratification and oral sex). The Plot: Oh boy, thats a tough one is there plot on this disc? Well, kind of. There is a plot of sorts, but this really is more of a compilation disc than anything else. There is plot for each scene, but its never part of a cohesive whole. Its like watching the Club Massacre from the beginning of Blade, the boarding of the plane from Passenger 57, and the final inning from Major League on a Wesley Snipes compilation disc. Is there a plot? Sure, but you dont see much of it. Im just going to address the plots in the scene breakdown; its really not worth it from here. The Cast: You know, those of us who are old enough to remember the Golden Age of Porn (i.e., old farts like myself) have fond memories for the great stars of the years gone by. These warriors of the sexual age were the few warm bodies who were able to rise above the tab A into slot B routine and show us how much fun sex could be. The unsung heroes of our sexual education, they were there in our parents closet, in their bottom drawers and under their beds. [read the full review]
