The Movie

Ten Little Maidens is an adult take on Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, which reworks the classic tale to work in the adult medium. The film combines great locations, an excellent cast and is nicely shot to make a fun, amusing, and at times outrageous — when else does one get to see Jamie Gillis having sex with an uncooked chicken — film. Unlike many parody films, Ten Little Maidens is a spoof of the book, yet writer Arthur King has made the story its own.

The story is, John (Harry Reems) gets a letter in the mail inviting him, and a friend, to an orgy on Bacchanale Island from a mysterious UN Seen. He and his friend Carol (Ginger Lynn) arrive to find out that no one knows their mysterious host. A lot of care went into making this adult film, on both the sexual portions and non-sexual portions and it shows. This is a classic one should not pass up viewing.

The Edition

Excalibur Films has released the few titles they own on a manufacture on demand system only, which is too bad as it limits the availability of their titles. Since they do appear to own this title, I am considering this the official release. Ten Little Maidens was at one point mastered from a film print, however, unfortunately this release was mastered from video. The film is presented in the full screen aspect ratio. The image is on the softer side and contains dirt, grain, artifacts and one video glitch. The film has good color representation. The film is presented with a Dolby Digital 1.0 monaural soundtrack, which works fine for the material being presented. Excalibur Films hasn't included any extras on this release.

Final Thoughts

Ten Little Indians is a great film to have come out of the 80s. It is a parody, yet takes on its own version of the story instead of just mimicking the original. The film has a great balance of sex and story as well as working in true comedy.
