Where Are They Now? (Sun Lust / Paradise Visuals) Review

Review:
“Where Are They Now?” is a good production from Sun Lust and Paradise Visuals that should also come with a warning—actually two warnings. The first is a good one: the heat that’s generated in some of the sequences, particularly the old-school Ginger Lynn segment with John Holmes and the new Dyanna Lauren boy-girl scene, is off-the-charts…so if you have a heart condition or you burn easily, beware. The second warning is of the not-so-good variety: there are some pretty serious technical issues in the new material here. Basically what occurs in this production is a good amount of pixilation (of the horizontal line type) that is particularly pronounced when there is motion. There also seems to be some sort of issue with fast motion itself, as well. It almost feels as though it trails or hesitates a bit across the screen. While these items don’t ultimately kill the production—largely because the older segments don’t have such issues—they can be difficult to get through at times. As a further note, I noticed some similar problems in another Sun Lust production that I reviewed recently, as well, so I’m hoping that this won’t become an ongoing issue. With that out of the way, let’s talk about what takes place in the movie.

This production brings back three legends of the adult industry—Ginger Lynn, Nina Hartley, and Dyanna Lauren—in brand-new romps that are accompanied / preceded by scenes from their respective heydays. All of this is narrated by adult film industry fan favorite and mascot (with no disrespect intended), Ron Jeremy. Up first is Ginger Lynn with John Holmes in a scalding oral-only sequence that is not to be missed (Scene One). This one takes place in John’s office and is nominally set up with Ginger being an aspiring porn actress who gets the casting couch…or…err…desk…treatment. Ginger takes a facial here and follows it up with some nice oral cock clean-off. While it would have been better if there would have been some penetration here—for obvious, unstated reasons—it’s likely best that there wasn’t—amazing stuff! The current version of Ginger—still holding her own in the looks department—has a hardcore anal encounter with James Deen (Scene Two). This very good sequence features some hot oral work by Ginger—which includes some decent face-fucking, deep-throating and nut-biting—and also some hot doggie-style anal and vaginal missionary-like positionings as its highlights. Things close out with a pop-shot to Ginger’s face, mouth, and neck—all followed up by some oral cock clean-off. One thing that’s really hot here is the anal-first approach that the pair takes—James pokes Ginger in the ass long before actually sampling her pussy.

Up next is adult industry advocate, Nina Hartley, in a classic sequence with Jamie Gillis that takes place in a fancy, old-style bedroom (Scene Three). The action here is fairly sensual and realistic, and it counts the reverse-cowgirl and doggie-style positions in which the pair partakes amongst its highlights. All of this, of course, is prior to finishing off with a money-shot delivered to Nina’s face and mouth and followed up by some oral cock clean-off. Overall, this segment is fairly good. The new sequence with Nina couples her with Dane Cross in a modern home (Scene Four). The side-entry and cowgirl positions in this one serve as the high-points, with the ensuing cum-shot on Nina’s ass ending the festivities on a high note—another good segment from Ms. Hartley.

The final lady in today’s lineup is Dyanna Lauren—who has recently made a comeback to the adult film industry. One item that Ron Jeremy mentions in introducing her scenes is Dyanna’s music which, if one’s interested, can still be purchased at sites like amazon.com (link). Personally, I enjoyed her CD. Regardless, Dyanna’s first romp is a classic one in which she takes on Lynden Johnson (interesting choice for a name) in a poolside girl-on-girl encounter (Scene Five). This one is pretty much by the books, as it features fingers, tongues, and some 69’ing between the actresses. Overall, it charts in at the good level. Dyanna’s new scene, however, is by far the best on the disc and definitely something to behold (Scene Six). It’s a scorching boy-girl romp that starts out with the male lead’s hand buried four fingers deep in Ms. Lauren, and it never looks back from there. The blowjob action that Dyanna puts forth features some deep-throating, and the standing rear-entry position over the footboard of the bed, the reverse-cowgirl and cowgirl riding, and the missionary-like work are all phenomenal. Dyanna is also looking good and fucking even better—hot stuff! This excellent sequence closes out with a facial for Ms. Lauren and is followed up by some oral cock clean-off—awesome and welcome back! In all honesty, this scene is the reason that the technical difficulties didn’t lead to a substantially lower rating for this disc than they did—it’s worth checking out in spite of them.

In terms of other items, it should be noted that a lengthy and interesting “Behind the Scenes” segment is included on the disc, but this is the only bonus. It should also be noted that advertisements—much like the other Sun Lust disc that I reviewed—play upon hitting the “Play Movie” option. The studio really should consider moving these ads to the bonus materials or moving them to the front (upon disc insertion) and making it such that they can be skipped—like Vivid now does with its primary line of titles. Another very strong suggestion for this studio would be to get a hold on the technical issues and make a smoother product for future releases. Such issues have been present on the two discs that I have reviewed thus far—at least to some degree—and on this one, because the issues are so prominent, I checked the disc on both a television and also a laptop.

Technical issues aside, this production is a good one—particularly for the two Ginger Lynn scenes and the Dyanna Lauren finale. This last sequence, in fact, would make checking this one out definitely worthwhile. That said, it’s difficult to recommend a purchase here—due to the technical issues—and it would likely be best suited for a rental.
