Let My Puppets Come (Blu-ray/DVD) (Vinegar Syndrome)
Release date: 8/27/2019
Reviewed on: 1/22/2020
Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Penny Nichols, Lynette Sheldon, Al Goldstein, Gerard Damiano, Turk Turpin, Luis De Jesus, Viju Krem, Uta Hofmann, Karen Magid, David W. Beames, Michael Greaves, Sean O'Malley, Adam McAdams, Michael Young
Directed by: Gerard Damiano
Review brief: Let My Puppets Come is a real oddity in the world of adult film being the first, and only, adult puppet musical movie. The film is an adult puppet show that lampoons the adult film industry, with well-made puppets, extensive musical numbers, and a good heaping of low-brow humor. Let My Puppets Come isn't going to be for everyone in fact, the viewers that will genuinely enjoy the film will be in the minority. For the right viewer, though, Let My Puppets Come is a fun film. Vinegar Syndrome has done an excellent job with their Blu-ray and DVD combo pack with excellent picture and sound quality.

Climax of Blue Power, A (Blu-ray) (Vinegar Syndrome)

Reviewed on: 7/6/2019
Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Uschi Digard, Starlyn Simone, Angela Carnon, Wes Bishop, I. William Quinn
Directed by: Lee Frost
Review brief: A Climax of Blue Power is an interesting roughie. A Climax of Blue Power was initially made as the softcore roughie The Impersonator by Lee Frost and then was converted, with inserts, into the hardcore roughie A Climax of Blue Power. Some of the inserts were well done and others, not so well done. As an exploitation film, despite being quickly made, A Climax of Blue Power works well. As a hardcore film, A Climax of Blue Power works poorly, and the inserts add nothing to the film at all. Vinegar Syndrome has done a nice job with their Blu-ray and DVD combo pack of A Climax of Blue Power with good sound and picture quality.

Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Shannon (ambiguous) (female), Craig Roberts, Shannon (Male), James Scott, Dave Daniels, Danny Robb, Scott Heath, Steve Pypo, Louis Lane, Ray Nemo, Roy Nemo
Directed by: Robert Shaw
Review brief: The concept and story idea behind the gay hardcore feature film Mens Room are good ones. However, the film is likely to be best enjoyed by gay viewers because the concept is stretched out too long and the time is filled with large amounts of sex scenes with little story portions here and there. The streaming-only edition from Vinegar Syndrome on Exploitation.TV has problematic video quality but good audio quality.

Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Gia Faye, Max Kune
Directed by: Prestho
Review brief: People Trap is an adult short film from a pseudonymous director going by the moniker Prestho. People Trap is one of the entries from Sutter Cinema's First International Erotic Film Festival, and the least enjoyable of the entries that this reviewer has seen thus far. The other entries from Sutter Cinema's First International Erotic Film Festival that this reviewer has seen all played with the adult film format and were likely made by film students. People Trap is a more standard all sex film with slightly more content than the 8mm loops that were being made at the time, and feels like a more established pornographer made it. Vinegar Syndrome's streaming-only edition on Exploitation.TV looks and sounds good.

Review brief: The Hit is a poorly done feature-style adult film from director Bob Kirk. If you are familiar with the work of Bob Kirk, you know exactly what to expect from this film. If you aren't the film is a flimsy story that holds up horribly shot sex scenes. The Hit is an easy film to skip. Review brief: The Ordeal of Donald Hewitt is an interesting conceptual hardcore short film. The director Judy Sloane played around quite a bit, and the resulting final film is interesting to watch however, viewers won't find the film erotic. The Ordeal of Donald Hewitt in fun to watch in a historical aspect to see when new directors were playing around with what could be done in the hardcore format. Starring: John Holmes, Sandy Dempsey, Suzanne Fields, Buddy Boone, Judy Angel, George Peters, Starlyn Simone, Patti Snyder, Nora Weiternik, Jack King, Justine D'Ore, Devon Mayer, Jim Mayer, Bodil Joensen, Margie Lanier, John Dullaghan
Directed by: Monroe Beehler
Review brief: Sexual Liberty Now! is a pseudo-documentary that uses the backdrop of President Lyndon Johnson's Commission on Obscenity and Pornography report as an educational stand to present pornography on the big screen at a time when pornography had to have educational value to avoid prosecution. As an actual documentary on the Commission on Obscenity and Pornography report, filmed pornography, and sexual practice in America Sexual Liberty Now! is an utter failure filled with a lot of suspect information. As entertainment, Sexual Liberty Now! makes for fun viewing. Intentionally, or not, Sexual Liberty Now! has amusingly absurd moments that allow the antiquated film a new life. Review brief: This edition doesn't contain the original version of The Love Witch but instead only includes the modified version of The Love Witch, which has cheaply produced courtroom segments that were created by Louis Peraino with Harry Reems. Honestly, The Love Witch is a mess with the original version of The Love Witch massacred by the new footage and inserted dialog (This isn't to say that The Love Witch was a good film before the alterations based on what is presented here it wasn't.). This film is an easy pass. Vinegar Syndrome has done a nice job with their streaming-only release on Exploitation.TV with good video and audio quality.

Starring: Natalie Nell, John Joseph, Barry Lane
Directed by: Preston Holmes
Review brief: Hopefully, at some point, Vinegar Syndrome will release a DVD of their Leo Productions short adult films from the First International Erotic Film Festival since they seem to have several. It seems unlikely that they would ever be able to put back together the festival itself since Leo Productions was not able to secure distribution rights for any of the entries they didn't produce. However, even a release of all of the Leo Productions shorts would be nice, even though the short films are flawed, since the different directors were all trying to actually do something with their short films. Roses for Zingara is a flawed but interesting short film from director Preston Holmes that is a tale of unrequited love. Vinegar Syndrome has done a nice job with their streaming-only edition of Roses for Zingara on Exploitation.TV with good audio and video quality.

Review brief: 5 Films 5 Years Volume 1: Golden Age Erotica is an excellent limited edition Blu-ray collection of five classic adult films. The set contains Too Naughty to Say No, Hot and Saucy Pizza Girls, The Ribald Tales of Canterbury, Prisoner of Paradise, and Dixie Ray Hollywood Star. The films on the release span from 1978 to 1985 and, honestly, fans of golden age adult films should find several to their liking, even if not all of the films included are favorites. None of the films on this release have ever looked better on home video and 5 Films 5 Years Volume 1: Golden Age Erotica is definitely worth picking up before it is sold out.

Hot Pistols
Release date: 1/1/2017
Reviewed on: 12/27/2017
Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Rene Bond, Keith Erickson, Ric Lutze, Jill Sweete
Review brief: Hot Pistols starts off strong but then quickly falls apart and loses all the potential that the film had becoming nothing more than your standard, quickly made, quickly forgotten adult film. Come to the end of the film, unfortunately, most viewers will find that Hot Pistols was a waste of their time. Vinegar Syndrome has done an acceptable job with their streaming-only edition on Exploitation.TV with a beat-up almost colorless image and below average audio quality.

Vice Vs Vice
Release date: 1/1/2017
Reviewed on: 12/20/2017
Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Rick Cassidy, Suzanne Fields, Ric Lutze, Adam Ward, Starlyn Simone
Review brief: Vice Vs Vice sadly has no redeeming qualities as an adult film. It is just one of many cheaply churned out bad adult films that no one expected to live past the film reels all deteriorating. The acting is poor, the sex is badly captured, and the story seems to have been an afterthought. There are many adult films worth watching, however, Vice Vs Vice isn't one of them.

Release date: 1/1/2017
Reviewed on: 12/20/2017
Studio: Vinegar Syndrome
Starring: Cyndee Summers, Rick Cassidy, Franklin Anthony, Marsha Hart, Dalana Bissonnette, Jon Roy Jones
Review brief: The Fugitives is a rather bad essentially softcore roughie from 1970 from an uncredited director. The plot is really bad and the softcore sex scenes aren't very well-done either. Honestly, there is no real reason to see The Fugitives. The streaming edition from Vinegar Syndrome on Exploitation.TV is in decent shape and watchable.

Review brief: Both Ways is an excellent film from Jerry Douglas that uses the adult film medium to tell its story. Both Ways uses both heterosexual and homosexual sex scenes in telling its story and is a must-see for any fan of the feature film genre who value a good story in their adult film. Vinegar Syndrome has done an absolutely beautiful job with their DVD release of Both Ways with a beautiful image and great audio.
