The Fugitives is a relatively poor softcore featurish adult film from an uncredited director. The film has no real plot to it at all. The film basically just has a set-up, which is that two convicts (Rick Cassidy and Jon Roy Jones) escape from the state prison. The convicts find May (Dalana Bissonnette) and Zella's (Cyndee Summers) house and along with another gang member (Marsha Hart) force their way into the house. There they hold May and Zella captive while they hide out. After that, the film is sexual fondling after sexual fondling and any semblance of a story is mostly forgotten.

Sadly, the sex scenes, like the plot, aren't well done either and, even worse, aren't overly erotic. The sex scenes consist of seemingly random groping that doesn't really look all that pleasurable and seems to go on for way too long. The sex scenes are mostly softcore in nature, which shouldn't mean that they need to be unappealing at all. The sex scenes appear to have been unsimulated when shot and often anything hardcore is hidden or masked. However, it appears that in error a few hardcore shots managed to make it to the final cut of the film.

The problems with the production of The Fugitives continues past just the story and the sex. The dialog is often inane and the film itself is very slow moving with a severe lack of pacing. The technical crew behind the film seem to have been unsure of how to make a proper film, which just shows on every level. Even the camera work has some just completely inexplicable shots that obviously someone thought was a good idea at the time. For instance, after watching May get ready, the camera then focuses on the toilet brush. This reviewer can find no reason to recommend that anyone take the time to watch this film as it, sadly, doesn't have much to offer the viewer.

The edition of The Fugitives screened is the streaming-only edition on Exploitation.TV. Vinegar Syndrome has done a good job with their streaming-only edition of The Fugitives. The Fugitives was shot on film and it looks like Vinegar Syndrome has used a film print as the master for this release. The print used has seen better days with print damage and artifacts present along with grain. There is a purple band on the right side of the screen through part of the film. Despite this, the film is still very watchable, just don't expect the quality of a Vinegar Syndrome DVD release.

The Fugitives is presented with an English monaural audio track. The audio contains pops and crackles, however, the dialog in the film can be heard and understood at all times during the film presentation.

Vinegar Syndrome hasn't included any extras for their streaming-only edition of The Fugitives.

The Fugitives is a rather bad essentially softcore roughie from 1970 from an uncredited director. The plot is really bad and the softcore sex scenes aren't very well-done either. Honestly, there is no real reason to see The Fugitives. The streaming edition from Vinegar Syndrome on Exploitation.TV is in decent shape and watchable.
