Playgirls of Munich is writer and director Tom Van der Feer's sequel to his 1977 film Dutch Treat. Dutch Treat is a rare entity in the adult film world; the film is an actual sequel to Dutch Treat and not a sequel in name only. Both Roger Caine and Zebedy Colt return from the first film to reprise their roles of Chuck and Barney respectively. Playgirls of Munich does reference Chuck and Barney's adventures in Dutch Treat; however, having seen the first film isn't necessary for the enjoyment of this one.

In Playgirls of Munich, Chuck and Barney, telephone repairmen, are sent to the airport to install phone on a private plane. They end up stowing away on the plane. They are caught and thrown off the plane, with parachutes, over Munich, Germany. They land upon the 1972 Olympic Stadium. Without money or passports, the two are befriended by Gretchen (Ginny Noack), who tries to help the two find jobs. Each one the two manage to fumble massively.

Playgirls of Munich is, at its core, a situational comedy that has graphic sex scenes in it. If the hardcore portions of Playgirls of Munich were removed, the film would still stand up and be worth watching. The film uses a rather standard convention, the odd couple style pairing where Chuck is a bumbling idiot ladies man who continually gets the pair in trouble and Barney is intelligent and bad with the ladies and tries to get the two out of the situations that Chuck has gotten them in.

The sex scenes aren't just jammed into the film. Wisely, Tom Van der Feer has designed the sexual situations as the focal point for how Chuck keeps getting the duo in process. This way the sex scenes feel like they are a natural part of the film and not breaking away from the movie. The sex scenes are well done.

Playgirls of Munich was shot at the same time as Dutch Treat over a two week period in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Munich, Germany. Except for Roger Caine and Zebedy Colt, the casting was handled in Munich by Maurits De Vries, “the first king of the Red Light district” in Amsterdam, who collected an ensemble of European adult film stars, strippers, and prostitutes. Surprisingly, for such a mishmash cast ensemble, the cast does an excellent job in the film. The two leads are excellent. Roger Caine puts in a better than his average performance, and Zebedy Colt puts in the superb performance that viewers would expect from him.

Playgirls of Munich was a nicely done film that is very amusing with good sex scenes. Sadly, before his murder in 1981, Tom Van der Feer only made five feature films that we know of (and numerous loops that we don't know the names of). Playgirls of Munich is well worth watching by fans of the genre.

The edition of Playgirls of Munich screened is the streaming-only edition available on Exploitation.TV. Vinegar Syndrome has done an acceptable job with their streaming-only edition of Playgirls of Munich. Playgirls of Munich was shot on film, and Vinegar Syndrome has used a tape master that was supplied to them for this release. Playgirls of Munich is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The image quality is disappointing especially from Vinegar Syndrome; the image quality is subpar even for their Exploitation.TV releases. The image looks soft, and the entire film has a green hue to it; other than the green hue, the colors look good. There are artifacts and print damage present. The film also looks like it was intended to be shown in the Academy aspect ratio and is misframed in the widescreen format that is displayed here.

Playgirls of Munich is presented with an English monaural audio track. There aren't any noticeable issues with the sound in the film, and the dialog is clear and easy to understand.

Vinegar Syndrome hasn't included any extras with their streaming-only release of Playgirls of Munich.

Playgirls of Munich is a fun comedic adult film that follows the continued adventures of buffoons Barney and Chuck as they once again tramp through Europe. Playgirls of Munich is a rare entity in the adult film world, a sequel that follows the original and keeps the same main characters. Playgirls of Munich is well worth watching and shouldn't be missed. Vinegar Syndrome has done an acceptable job with their steaming-only release of Playgirls of Munich on Exploitation.TV with good audio quality and acceptable video quality.
