The Hit is a rather poor feature film by director Bob Kirk. It should be stated, that this reviewer has not yet seen a film by Bob Kirk that was worth watching. The Hit isn't an exception. The Hit is a genuinely dreadful adult film that displays exactly how bad of a filmmaker Bob Kirk was.

The Hit is a rip-off of Lewis Allen's 1954 film Suddenly. Hitmen Frankie (Ken Scudder), Jordan (John Seeman), and Sharon (Veronica Taylor) have been hired to take a man out. He goes down a single street every morning between 8:10 and 8:15. They are seeking out a vantage point and determine that Cindy's apartment is perfect. They enter Cindy's apartment under the rouse of being National Security Agency agents but she soon finds out the truth, and they hold her hostage until the hit has occurred.

Before one sits back and thinks this is a Bob Kirk film with a developed plot, it isn't. The majority of this information is given to the viewer in the first minute of the film. The Hit doesn't have any of the story quality or quality acting that Suddenly has. The little snippets of story that are given to the viewer during the film bounce all over and sometimes even contradict each other. The majority of the film is just people arriving at Cindy's apartment and the sex scenes.

All of the sex scenes are orgy scenes. Bob Kirk was a bad filmmaker, and he was terrible at shooting sex. This film shows he was especially bad at shooting orgy scenes. The sex is mechanically shot often with just writhing body parts that feel disassociated from actual people. A viewer would have to be hard up to find anything erotic here.

The Hit is just an ugly sex film. There are a couple of moments when Bob Kirk comes across as a competent filmmaker, but then he goes to prove that he isn't. There isn't any way that this reviewer can recommend this film.

The edition of The Hit screened is the streaming-only edition on Exploitation.TV. Vinegar Syndrome has done a decent job with their streaming-only edition of The Hit. The Hit was shot on film, and it looks like Vinegar Syndrome has used a film print for this release. The Hit is presented in the Academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 pillarboxed to the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The image quality for the film isn't bad. There are artifacts and print damage evident. The colors in the film look good.

The Hit is presented with an English monaural audio track. The sound is decent with crackles and dirt. All of the dialog in the film can be understood.

Vinegar Syndrome hasn't included any extras for this release.

The Hit is a poorly done feature-style adult film from director Bob Kirk. If you are familiar with the work of Bob Kirk, you know exactly what to expect from this film. If you aren't the film is a flimsy story that holds up horribly shot sex scenes. The Hit is an easy film to skip. Vinegar Syndrome has done a decent job with their streaming-only release on Exploitation.TV with good video quality and decent audio quality.
