The Movie

Diamond Head was one of two adult films that Jason Williams shot in Hawaii simultaneously (the other movie being Debbie Does Hawaii). Diamond Head is a terrible adult film in just about every aspect that one can use to judge the movie.

The plot for Diamond Head is that three inept thieves are caught by a policewoman, Linda, while robbing a strip club. The three take the policewoman's sister Mary (Debbi Brooks), a Girl Scout, hostage and take off. Linda searches for the three to save her sister.

The film is trying to be a comedy and a stupid comedy at that. The film resorts at times to horrific sight gags and at other times to terrible wordplay to try and force a laugh out of the audience. Unfortunately for the viewer, all of these attempts are dismal failures, and the film itself isn't funny at all. The plot is awful; none of it ever makes sense or holds the viewer's interest. The dialog in the film is as dreadful as the failed comedy attempts.

None of the sex scenes are overly erotic, and many of the cast members are in even worse shape. One theatergoer, who manages to get a blowjob, is missing his teeth and has a lap covered in dandruff. Jason Williams includes way too much of the on-stage stripper at the robbed theater and her inane sex scene with a stuffed teddy bear — yes dear reader, a stuffed teddy bear with a fake cock. Even in the non-sexual material, the cast is a loss. The Mary, the Girl Scout, looks too old to be in a girl scout outfit and just ludicrous in the role. What Jason Williams thought when he made this film is beyond this reviewer.

Diamond Head is a dirty and poorly made film, and after viewing it, the viewer feels like they may have caught an STD just from watching the movie. Unfortunately, this reviewer can't find any reason to recommend Diamond Head to any viewer.

The Edition

The edition of Diamond Head screened is the streaming-only edition available on Exploitation.TV. Vinegar Syndrome has done a decent job with their streaming-only version of Diamond Head. Diamond Head was shot on film, and it looks like Vinegar Syndrome has used a film print for this release. Diamond Head is presented in the Academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 pillarboxed to the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The image contains dirt, artifacts, and print damage. For the most part, the colors in the film are decent. There is a loop that was used at the beginning of the film that has aged poorly and is green in color. There is one point in the movie where the image appears to be too red as well.

There is an English monaural audio track for Diamond Head. The audio presentation contains crack and pops. The dialog in the film is clear and easy to understand at all times.

Vinegar Syndrome hasn't included any extras for their streaming-only edition of Diamond Head.

Final Thoughts

Diamond Head, also known as Honolulu Hustle, is a horrific adult feature film that insults the intelligence and challenges the libido of anyone who watches the film. Many of the cast members look like they were cast at the local soup kitchen and the attempts at jokes will only appeal to the most vacuous of viewers. Diamond Head isn't recommended under any circumstances. Vinegar Syndrome has done a decent job with their streaming-only edition of Diamond Head on Exploitation.TV with decent audio and video quality.
