As a Fan of Mr. Blake I am glad to see a return to some "Sex" in his films. The film/audio quality of Hard Edge is outstanding as are the colors, or lack there of, in black and white segments. All in all a very very good film and an improvement over a few of the past films. [read the full review]

Now that's more like it! After the disappointment of "Justine" and "Adriana", Andrew Blake is back on form with "Hard Edge", a return to the hardcore erotica style of movies like "Wet" and "High Heels". There is still a good deal of the fetishistic imagery that he's known for, and which overwhelmed his last two movies in particular, but this time we get more of what we paid for - beautiful girls with little or no clothes on, playing with themselves or each other and occasionally getting fucked silly. Those beautiful girls are the strongest lineup in a Blake movie since his Anita Blonde period. Shining out are blonde Kelle Marie and frequent-dyer Justine, but brunettes Nike, Adriana and Jessie sizzle. Well, this is one devout Private/Pirate Video Deluxe/Pirate Fetish Machine fan that absolutely disagrees with the two previous reviewers. The series has taken an unfortunate downturn with the exit of Kovi and the entrance of Susi Medusa. And, believe me, she ain't no Tanya Hyde! I totally share aybesea's perspective on Kovi's mishandling of Private's Pirate line. Once upon a time the Pirate Video Deluxe flicks from Tanya Hyde and Frank Thring made it my favorite series. Unfortunately Kovi seriously dropped the ball in my opinion. It's not that he is untalented, because he has made many fine movies for Private's other lines like the Black Label line, but rather he never captured the edge or kink factor that made the previous Pirate titles so exiting. So needless to say I was very curious to see what this unknown female director was going to bring to the table. Judging from the boxcover pics alone I liked where she seemed to be going. This movie is certainly a step in the right direction for the Pirate line, but not quite in sync with the level of quality achieved by Thring and especially Hyde. This is a hard one to mark. I'm giving it 3 and a half because firstly, Zuzanna is in my book very sexy (what fantastic boobs she has), and also very dirty, which can only be a very good thing. She also loves anal, which you don't see many similar looking models doing, and her scene with a black dildo is incredibly erotic. That said, the middle half of this DVD can be skipped as it's pretty lame. Also, the other models in the DVD did little for me. The picture quality isn't fantastic either, but it's acceptable. Overall: It would have been better if the organization of the dumpsters were done by name of series' titles because that way the cast ID left intact would actually be helpful.
