Ravishing
covergirl Katarina Martinez and the delectable Grety are among Pierre
Woodman's interviewees in this edition of his long-running series, originally
issued in June 2000. This presents the opportunity to see them in auditions,
example sex scenes and to go behind the scenes on photo shoots. The opening
titles do warn that some picture quality is substandard but I share Private's
view that it's worth releasing regardless.
Nicole & Raquel
The opening pair of interviews were clearly conducted in the same session,
with pretty, busty blonde Nicole (gives name as Ester) going first. The
19-year-old knows what Pierre's business is about and, though not thrilled
by his magazines, is willing to try. She's quite attractive with a little
sparkle and a little humour about her…and a very nice pair of breasts!
She strips off as required and confesses to having been with rather a
lot of boys in one year.
Next we have Raquel, not so pretty perhaps, but whose big blue eyes and
full mouth, which flits quickly from sullen pout to broad smile, form
an extremely expressive face. She seems quite interesting, opining that
money is more important but she's also up for the experience, and giggles
as she strips off, feigning shock, and is involved in a lengthy debate
about whether she likes blowjobs or not.
The girls are seen in action together in a group grope from Indecency,
with Jolt Walton, Mike Foster and a brunette who could be called Jeanette,
maybe not. Anyway, this is a rough, cut-up version of the scene with Woodman's
instructions still audible. It's interesting to hear just how much of
the action is at his instruction and even then it doesn't all go to plan
when it's time for the come shots! Anal for both the blondes, and a double
penetration for lush Nicole.

Indecency
Monica Bella
This blonde and tan beauty is a Hungarian barmaid, already aware of Pierre's
business and keen to give it a shot. From looking at a magazine, she doesn't
seem keen on double penetration or sperm but happily strips off and reveals
her perky tits and lovely round bum. She's fine.
These things clearly move fast as she's in the same white dress as the
interview when we next see her on-set, with some behind-the-scenes shots
before the action starts with Monica as the subject of a gangbang with
some randy firemen. It's shot in a real fire station with a real fire
engine…can I stick in a gag about firemen's poles? No? Please yourself.
On with the sex, with Monica looking genuinely horny as she dishes out
blowjobs, takes on some anal sex and what do you know? She does the double
penetration and sucks up five or six loads of come in a way that makes
a mockery of her professed dislikes. She really looks rather aroused.
The camerawork and quality are sketchy but she's an appealing girl, and
it's all good dirty fun.

Ania
Pierre inaccurately compares this pretty brunette dancer, said to be Russian,
with Elle McPherson. I am not so sure. Ania hasn't got a clue who Elle
McPherson is anyway. The interview begins with Ania showing how she can
speak a little German, which is no use to Pierre, before the translator
comes in. Apparently Ania's already told this person that she doesn't
want to pose nude. Pierre just wants the chance to talk. Hmm. One cut
later, Ania's browsing a Private magazine and then stripping off with
surprising alacrity. There are Lots of giggles when she's posing and more
when answering the usual indiscreet questions. She has a funny blue mark
on her tummy that we never find out about, but she has a fine body and
makes lots of intriguing facial expressions.
Quite a transformation has taken place when we see Ania in action with
three guys during a photo shoot. The usual slightly awkward posing takes
in anal, double penetration and facials. Better is a trip to the Seychelles,
described as paradise by Pierre, where we see Ania's sexy form in a pair
of similar shoots with Le Castel and Lengin. There's a hint of local flavour
but what I find interesting is how they keep idly screwing while discussing
the next position. Both shoots feature poses for blowjobs (Le Castel's
large knob looks especially crude in her dainty mouth) and anal, the latter
features DP too and an impressively co-ordinated dual come facial, if
that's what floats your boat.

Grety
The first of the well-known stars of this edition, Grety (variously known
as Eva, which she gives as her name here, Greta Milos and others) looks
almost unbelievably fresh and pretty, with short, boyish blonde hair setting
off a delightfully expressive face possessed of elfin beauty. The length
of her hair prompts its own debate but I shall try not to digress from
the matter at hand. She says she's a student and a model and is only prepared
to do glamour, but she's persuaded to strip and then talk after. Oh, to
hear what happens in those off-camera chats! I'm probably over selling
it but what the hell, she really does look fantastic. Her body is wonderful,
her breasts sensational but it's her soft voice and gently forthright
way that just say, "star quality". She's not well served by facile translation
of her expansive comments.
It's odd that she doesn't actually look so stunning in a sex scene where
gun-toting Mike Foster and Frank Gun oblige her to get it on them when
they discover her in a speedboat in some dilapidated shed. I'm sure it
all makes sense. She still looks good enough in sexy black stockings,
getting straight into anal and taking a DP in an especially odd position.
Facial come shots wrap it up. It's not great but not bad, probably not
the best example to show of a really great girl.

Information
Gwendoline
19-year-old brunette Gwendoline might not be so pretty but she's quite
cheerful, seems excited about working for Pierre and seems to have a fairly
positive attitude to sex, surprisingly so when one hears what she says
later. For the moment, it appears she's come to Pierre through knowing
"Frank", presumably his regular male star Franck Versace. However, it's
kind of difficult for me to go on describing her body and so forth, as
she strips for Pierre while casually throwing the following grenade into
the chat: aged 11, she was forced to have sex while drunk. She relates
this while removing her clothes, in the most oddly blasé manner, telling
Pierre she hasn't been traumatised by the experience.
This sort of personal history doesn't hold her back and we see her working
for Pierre in a photo shoot, I presume in Canada, set in a shop selling
kitsch junk. She takes on Lengin and Le Castel in the usual sort of stuff
- anal, double penetration and facial come shots. Quite unremarkable.
I am still in shock at her revelations.

Katarina Martinez
The second "big name" and covergirl of this edition is raven-haired Czech
whose dusky looks perhaps provide the Latin inspiration for her stage
name. Katarina has little make up on for the interview and looks younger,
fresher and prettier than in her professional appearances. She seems to
speak Russian in the interview, maybe with Tania Russof translating for
Pierre, and tells them that she stays at home to look after a one-year
old son. Mentioning the Czech agency Bohem Productions in passing as she
relates her awareness of Private's work, Katarina has quite a twinkle
in her eye as she confirms she likes girls and will do anal - you can
see she's got "it" even before she strips to reveal her tall, slim form.
Katarina's sexual skills are shown to modest effect in a cut-down version
of a scene from the Christoph Clark effort Reporter. Christoph himself
lords it over a room full of naked women, where Cathy Cash and he order
Katarina, in lavish gold costume, into sex with Lengin and Le Castel,
again - they must have been joined at the hip. Anal, double penetration
and facials feature but the editing is annoying. Personally, I recommend
a rather over-heated scene in Rocco's Private Fantasies to see Katarina
at her best. As a quick treat we see Katarina and Silvia Saint eating
(perhaps around the time of their co-starring in Irresistible Sylvie?)
before Katarina takes on the boys again in a photo shoot.

Monica
Another boyish, shorthaired blonde beauty, 19-year-old Monica is a student
who looks younger, with peach fuzz hair on her face and neck and piercing
blue eyes. Her interest seems to be only in glamour, no harder - one look
at a Private magazine and she colours visibly, saying it's disgusting.
Pierre's arguments about what's shown on the TV news won't wash. Behind
her disgust, it seems she's only been with girls till now. However, she
is happy to strip off, and no wonder, as she has a lovely body - slim
yet curvy with wonderfully high breasts. When she confirms she's not motivated
by money, Woodman approves, saying he doesn't like "putes" and
tries to find girls who enjoy this work. I just wish that came across
more often in his movies.
There's a certain sense of ironic inevitability about it when, as Pierre's
arguments run out of steam, she says it all in a smile when confirming
that he does nothing for her. Of course not, but let's talk…the results
of which are seen from the usual static camera: Pierre laying her on the
bed in a towel, opening the towel and caressing her body as he goes down
on her. Whatever it is he says in these off-camera conversations must
be dynamite. If only.
That's not to disparage what happens here, because for my money, this
is one of the best of these sexual initiations, that's going by the amount
of notes I made, at least. A lot of what I jotted down was repeatedly
about just how good her lissom body looks during the action, the way she
moves herself as her tension dissipates and the way her breasts tremble
with Pierre's thrusting. Also, about the tiny little physical signs, the
imperceptible twitches, the more overt flexing, the lovely and surprisingly
adept way she grinds and wriggles on top as she warms to it.
I can't get through describing one of these scenes without using the term
"furious fucking", but that's also true - Pierre does show her the way
in no uncertain terms, causing her to clutch the sheets, to moan and sob
and even to look a little dazed. Monica does look bemused as Pierre seems
to come in her ass after some fast-paced anal, which goes without saying,
and there's more sex before she jerks him off and then rushes to the loo.
She doesn't like the sperm. The close-up of Pierre waving his willy is
just gratuitous. Although no other appearances are listed in Monica's profile, some
detective work by Speelie, Noproblemo and Carioca (thank you, gents), has
resulted in the conclusion that Monica is in fact the girl better known as
Loureen Kiss, who actually did go on to make plentiful movies under that
name.

Rima
Finally, a pretty Russian who also seems to have taken her association
with Pierre no further than this initial stage. This might be a shame,
because Rima is quite attractive with bright blue eyes and lots of brown
hair framing her face. She has a little sense of humour too. Example:
job status? "Taking a break". She seems confident she can do the work
and plays around coyly when taking her clothes off. I wonder why she didn't
go any further. Little details like that would be a nice touch.

Overall
As always, Castings 22 will doubtless prove fascinating to fans of these
girls and perhaps less thrilling to the casual viewer. It's clearly the
edited history rather than a warts-and-all account - the interviews swing
from facile to worryingly frank. I find it interesting to see girls like
Katarina and Grety in these early moments and to wonder what happened
to sweet Monica and why she got away. The sex scenes and photo shoots
used to illustrate it all are of variable interest.
DVD Comments
The overall standard of quality isn't too bad, actually, because although
the interviews are rough and the feature clips are good, this is still
better than some editions of this series. The sound is good enough to
hear most of the interviews clearly. The extras aren't bad, with another
Woodman interview clip, photos for some but not all of the girls, profiles,
production notes and a selection of trailers. There's also the usual DVD-Rom
section with DVD catalogue and wallpaper pictures. Something seems to
be up with the extras menu on my copy of this disc - it keeps cutting
out or re-starting the feature.
