Ninas been around for quite a while, having begun her porn career back in 1984, and shes still going strong. Shes got 933 titles in her movie career (according to IAFD, although not all of them are sex scenes), so picking a best of must be quite a challenge. However, the earliest scene included on The Best of Nina Hartley only goes back to 1997, so theres about 13 years seriously unrepresented. While Ive enjoyed Nina over the years, I have a fondness for some of her early scenes and the earlier part of her career, and it would have been a more interesting compilation to me if scenes from these years were included, as well as a bit more interracial. A new parody from the team of Jeff Mullen and Scott David where we go back to a 1960's show the Beverly Hillbillies but this show takes the family to modern day but the way Jed and co got rich stays the same as does Mr. Drysdale's desire to retain as much control over their vast fortune as he can. The main plot to start the show involves Jethro and Ellie Mae opening up a movie casting agency out of their big mansion. This leads to some good sex including a bj for Mr. Drysdale! Two actors take on the non sex roles of Jed and Granny with Haley Hewes doing a very good job as Granny. Another strong effort acting wise comes from Dana DeArmond who takes on the prudish role of Miss Hathoway- she stays in character during her sex scene which was quite funny. Overall they did a pretty good job including some great effects used on the vampires which were the big monsters featured in this parody. First a footnote to the ratings above. For "extras" rating, I actually thought that this was a reference to the "extras" in the cast, not the bonus scenes contained in the CD. This mistake should prove as good a foreword as any to introduce this remarkable, unique film: Might I suggest a change of pace for a future viewing? Candida Royalle, a very sexy lady who was an early porn performer, for the past 20 years has set her considerable talents to making realistically erotic pictures. I had never seen one until tonight when I watched her most recent, "Studhunters." Description Soft-focus 'porn for women' comedy with condom use. The plot is a satire about making an adult movie, mostly auditioning the male talent. Initial Impressions I like the idea of porn that loses the misogyny and formulaic aspects of a lot of porn, and that has more focus on the chemistry between the players. And so I always want to like Candida Royalle's movies, but they are so slow and boring that it takes major courage for me to pop one in the dvd player. I was thinking that maybe my memories of how slow these things are has become exaggerated. Or maybe she has changed lately and picked up the pace? Nope, I guess not! Im not really sure what to expect here. Initial Reaction: Its beautiful but often boring and a letdown. Who Should Watch It : Anybody whos afraid of porno and sex or anybody wanting to see new guys Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who thinks porno should be about hot and complete sex scenes or who wants things like pop shots Audio /Video Quality: The audio is normally fairly clear, but slightly off balance. The locations throw it off a little a couple times, but it also seems to fit the locations at those places. The video is a bit artistic. It has a soft feel and the lighting is often played with to help with the mood of the scenes. The video definitely helps with the artistic feeling of the feature, and makes things very beautiful.
