review from 7/6/2019:
Traumatized by one awful experience after another, a young, promising high school graduate, Cindy West, ultimately finds herself both without a voice and also initiated into a sexualized, satanic, New York City cult. With her hatred of men growing by the minute, and the cult's leader, Guy Thomas, interested in only one thing from his flock, it remains to be seen whether Cindy will fall victim yet again or whether she'll rise above it all and find solace (and revenge) in the arms of her lord, Satan. Such is the case in "Devil's Due", an overall-good, 1973 release from director Ernest Danna and re-mastered by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

review from 11/19/2009:
The Devil In Miss Jones is the 40th Anniversary Edition from VCX. This is a 2 disc set, presented in widescreen format. The transfer looks pretty good, considering the age of the film. The first disc contains the XXX feature, with optional commentary from Gerard Damiano, while the second disc has the softcore version. Worth having if you enjoy classic porn. [read the full review]

review from 9/19/2009:
This is a classic film that I’m sure everyone has heard of. VCX has just released a 40th anniversary edition (never mind that it’s only 36 years old) in a special 2-disk “Definitive Collector’s Edition). Every porn fan should at least have an understanding of the classics and should view this film at least once. Porn has evolved greatly since DMJ was mad (and for the better, IMO). An unintentional encounter with a loser student leads a repressed-though-sexual, young teacher, Jesie St. James, down a dirty and ultimately unfulfilling path. Indeed, it seems that no matter which turn she takes in her life thereafter--for love, for lust, or for both--Jesi is destined for erotic despair. Such is the case in "Easy", a very good, 1978 release from VCX and director Anthony Spinelli. [read the full review]

When the ladies are looking for a good time or to simply escape the mundane, there's only one place to go, and that's down to John Leslie's local, country-themed watering hole, where the sex flows as freely as the liquor and the pussy party's always on. review from 12/31/2015:
When a desperate girl on the street sells Kevin James a ring that she stole from her father, his (...sexual...) luck changes...and so does everyone else's who comes into possession of the bejeweled band. Such is the case in "Ring of Desire", a good, 1981 release from Peter Balakoff and Gourmet Video. Indeed, the ring finds itself passed around the various corners--and between the assorted characters--of Hollywood, from lawyers to actresses to writers to prostitutes and so on, and whoever owns it at the time finds him- or herself quite lucky (...as in "getting lucky"...). With a clever, though simple plot, good acting, a number of shorter sex scenes, and a strong cast, this little fuck-flick from yesteryear is actually a lot of fun and worthy of a watch...particularly for fans of the classics. It's all about loving 'em and leaving 'em when the smooth-talking John Leslie's over-the-top, male strip review, which is aiming for the stars but mired on the bottom, finds its way to a cowpoke town in the middle of nowhere. Indeed, the guys are born for the road, whether they realize it or not (...or like it or not...), and the fanciful ladies of the little berg are ultimately left feeling the repercussions in the wake of their unabashed, testosterone-fueled tide. Such is the case in "The Dancers", a very good, 1981 release from VCX and director Anthony Spinelli. [read the full review]

review from 5/6/2007:
Armand Weston was one of the finest directors ever to make hardcore films. Although he usually crafted dark and depressing tales, this 1978 film was his foray into comedy. With a fantastic cast of regulars, and Leslie Bovee as the female lead, Weston crafted a wonderful, skilfully acted, sumptuously shot, and cleverly written parody of films of American culture from the 30s to the 60s. review from 3/7/2005:
This 1978 feature directed by "Armand Weston" is a good example of "golden age" adult filmmaking. The plot is a take off on the Oscar Wilde story, "The Picture of Dorian Grey." The protagonist's name has been changed from Dorian Grey to "Darrin Blue," (played amazingly by Wade Nichols). And instead of a painting, his youthful image is captured on a porn film that his liberated 1920's flapper girlfriend (Georgina Spelvin) secretly had made of them making love outdoors. When she shows it to him later, he wishes that the image on the film could get old, and that he could stay youthful forever. You might have guessed that that is exactly what happens. The 1930s have Wade Nichols doing a remarkable imitation of James Cagney, during the 1940s, he's doing Humphrey Bogart (and Annette Haven). During the 50s, he's doing James Dean and making love on his motocycle. During the 1960s, still as youthful as ever, he is, you guessed it, a hippie doing drugs and having an orgy. Since this was shot in the 1970s, that brings us up to the present. [read the full review]

review from 6/20/2016:
The virginally naive Candy Christian (played by the blonde bombshell, Carol Connors) unwittingly embarks upon the sexual adventure of a lifetime when her father ends up in the hospital after catching her getting it on with the hired help. Thereafter, Candy finds herself bumbling her way from one end of the country to the other, being taken advantage of by strangers, doctors, a cult leader, and even family members along the way. Fortunately for her (...and the viewer, as well...), she's more or less too ditzy to realize any of it and simply goes along for the sexy ride. Such is the case in the "Erotic Adventures of Candy", a very good, 1978 release from VCX and director Gail Palmer. [read the full review]

John Holmes is at it again as his cooler-than-you, private investigator persona, "Johnny Wadd", in "The Jade Pussycat", a very good, 1977 release from Bob Chinn and I-Candy. This time around, Holmes has been employed by the sister of a low-rent thief, Jon Martin, to find him after he goes missing upon stealing a near-priceless artifact, the Pussycat. As it turns out, it's the criminal Linda Wong and her gang of Chinese thugs who are behind the kidnapping, and what ensues is an old-school, P.I. adventure reminiscent of mainstream stories of its era...but served up with a heaping helping of Holmes' mammoth meat and good ole-fashioned fucking. review from 10/23/2004:
Most of what I wrote about "The Ecstasy Girls" also applies to this film. This is a 1982 Harold Lime production, directed by Robert McCallum. With Veronica Hart and Annette Haven, there's more star power in this flick, but the final product is not quite as good as the wonderful "Ecstasy Girls." The plot is "Ecstasy Girls" in reverse. Here, Georgina Spelvin is the publisher of a soft-core porn mag called "Panther," featuring centerfolds of smart college girls. Some morality guardians form a committee called Morality over Madness (MOM), and try to put Panther out of business. Spelvin has to round up her centerfold graduates to go out and seduce the committee members, retain evidence of the hanky-panky, and ultimately blackmail the members into ceasing their assault on Panther magazine. Running Time: Approx. 95 min (There are no scene indexes or time codes on the DVD) Cast: Annette Haven, Veronica Hart, Jesie St. James, Georgina Spelvin, Desire Cousteau, Lisa De Leeuw, Tara Aire, Jacqueline Brooks, Frank Hollowell, Richard Bolla, Michael Morrison, Eric Edwards, and Mike Horner (who isn't even listed in the credits) Director: Robert McCulum Extras: Photo gallery and Jump to a Scene (I guess this is actually an extra feature when you don't have chapter markings on a DVD) Audio / Video Quality: The audio and video quality is better than what I would have expected for an adult film this old. The video is average and the audio echoes in spots, but is much better than other adult films of this age, such as the Original Debbie Does Dallas. The Review: Centerspread Girls kind of reminds me of my youth. It revolves around MOM trying to stop porn (or at least not let me have it). In this case, MOM is Morality Over Madness, a moral majority group which has been trying to shut down Panther magazine for years. [read the full review]

review from 1/29/2000:
DMJ II goes beyond the colorfully erotic and enters the realm of exquisite filmmaking. What a wonderful movie funny, romantic, clever yes, Im talking about a porno here. Plot, sex, acting, scenery DMJ II succeeds on all counts. In how many movies do you get to watch Mary Antoinette and Cleopatra suck off the Devils Advocate? Or Cyrano de Bergerac give Georgina Spelvin the first orgasm in hell with his nose? The film opens with an erotic yet humorous seduction. Georgina Spelvin (Justine Jones), ever the siren, crawls toward Cyrano (whose nose is conveniently shaped like a penis) begging to mount him. As she writhes her way to ultimate pleasure Hells orgasm alert starts blaring (the no orgasm in hell rule has just been officiated.) Miss Jones is pulled off Cyranos face and dragged through the erotic bowels of Hell to meet with the man himself, Satan. [read the full review]

The reputation and "importance" of certain writers rise and fall like tech stocks. Who's better, Faulkner or Salinger? Hawthorne or Cooper? To consider such questions is all mental masturbation when you get right down to it, so it's only natural that porn would follow suite.
