The Movie |
Chronologically speaking, The Jade Pussycat is the best of the Johnny Wadd films so far directed by Bob Chinn. Bob Chinn has really hit his stride with this series in this film. The Jade Pussycat is the ninth film in the Johnny Wadd film series following Tapestry of Passion. Bob Chinn has found a really good combination of story, sex, and non-sex ingredients to make for a fun adult film sure to appeal to fans of classic adult cinema. The Jade Pussycat is Bob Chinn's homage to The Maltese Falcon. The ending to the film is cheesy, however, it is also amusing and ends up working for the film.
The story for this entry is Jenny (Jessica Temple-Smith) goes to private dick Johnny Wadd (John Holmes) after Paul (Jon Martin) goes missing. The film features a great cast, who do well for both the scripted and the sexual portions of the film. The Jade Pussycat was filmed in San Francisco. Half of the footage shot for the film ended up being unusable and Chinn had to go back and re-shoot it. The Jade Pussycat is followed by The China Cat.
The Edition |
I-Candy has presented The Jade Pussycat in the full screen aspect ratio. The video looks good displaying good colors. Some scenes do seem to come across as overly dark There is dirt and grain present throughout. The Jade Pussycat is presented with a Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural track that has some background hiss but works fine for the material being presented. The only extra that I-Candy included on the disc is a photo gallery with stills from The Jade Pussycat.
Final Thoughts |
The Jade Pussycat is a great adult film to come out of the seventies and one of the best entries in the Johnny Wadd film series. The film has a great combination of sex and story that makes for a excellent finished product. I-Candy's release features a decent presentation of the film.
