With the exception of Artemisia and Marissa, this is my favorite Paul Thomas movie yet. It doesn't come close to the brilliance of the Fashionistas but it's still a worth while effort. The film is stylish and parts of it are well written. However, I felt it borrowed too heavily on a mainstream fashion film, Robert Altman's Prêt-à-Porter. The Southern belle TV reporter who interviews the major characters in the film, the criminal husband stealing a guest's luggage from the hotel, the French-Canadian assistant sneaking into a room to retrieve compromising photos and ending up in a closet with the husband. These are each clear plot points taken from Prêt-à-Porter. The most blatant use of the Prêt-à-Porter storyline, however, involves two characters portrayed by Faith & Marcos Leon. They play strangers, both married, who are accidentally assigned the same room at the hotel. After realizing the mix up, there's a mad dash to see who can get to the room first. Later, they hook up. The one thing which did have me laughing, though, was the comedy relief provided by Jack's Mentor and you have to see it to really get the full effect but I was laughing a lot especially when the girl pushing his wheelchair accidently turns to pick up a cell phone which had dropped, inadvertently pushing his wheelchair down the stairs. Now obviously he wasn't in it but you see him sprawled out on the stairs, he takes out his talker and gives her a piece of his mind. This leads to our first scene with the lovely Teagan. Teagan Presley: Ok we find Teagan looking all gorgeous and Scott Nails is there too but he's got a full head of hair which is different than he looks now and since we're on Vol. 6 of the series and this was #3 I can see this being from some time ago. Four unique vignettes feature the "barely legal" typecast in the "Dear Grll! Power, blah, blah, blah" format. The element I found most entertaining was the blah, blah blah ... I had to actually stop and think "Was the dialogue in this flick actually funny? I had to remind myself that there is purpose, in some left wing kind of way, for dialogue in porn. I fired up the ol'dvd player and threw in my latest acquisition of Grrl Power! #8 expecting a run of the mill Hustler flick but found myself surprisingly entertained ... by a porn flick! I was especially fond of the underlying patriotic presence incorporated comically into the hot raw sex scenes we've all come to expect from Hustler.
