Initial Expectations: Although Celeste's work can be a bit hit or miss for me, with Sophia Santi, Faith Leon, Jelena Jensen, and Tory Lane I can't help but look forward to this one!

Initial Reaction: It's a bit hit or miss, but there's some very nice hits and they far outweigh the misses.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of artistic porn

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who doesn't like all girl action or who wants things straightforward without stylized video and with audio from the performers

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: As usual with Digital Playground there's some very nice effort put into the technical aspects and as usual with Celeste there's no audio outside of the music. The video is very nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen, and although there is a bit of grain now and then it appears to be completely intentional to help with the artistic feel of the movie. The camera work is nicely done without any jerkiness or other problems, and there's even a little black and white footage mixed in. This is a very nice looking and sounding movie.

Music: As always with Celeste, there's some very nice care put into the audio. This should only stand to reason with the role that the music plays in the movie, but sadly that doesn't often seem to be the case with many directors out there. There's a nice variety of styles to the music, and it constantly plays into the artistic feel of the movie.

Menus: The main menu has s funky seventies feel that goes great with the cover and a bit of minor animation. The chapter menu is fairly generic giving you a clip of each chapter and a chapter number, but it also lists the name(s) of each girl(s) in their first chapter.

The Feature

As usual with Celeste, Tryst is style over any kind of substance that would seem like a plot. The movie goes with a vignette feel, and about all there is to connect the scenes is the style.

Scene 1 – Kapri Styles and Sophia Santi

Hot black chick Capri starts things out in a red shirt and white sexy panties standing in front of smoking hot Sophia as she sits on a couch in some sexy white lingerie to run her hands around Kapri's great tattooed ass. There's nice chemistry between them and the scene moved along at a nice pace. Yes, it's pretty much each girl gets a turn and it's over, but it's done in an artistic style that worked very well for me. This is a very nice start to the movie.

Scene 2 – Sophia Santi

Sophia returns for the second scene to lie on a bed wearing some sexy shoes and white panties next to a partial mannequin with a strap-on. This just might be my favorite scene in the movie.

Scene 4 – Clara G. and Sophia Santi

This is a hot scene, but I would have loved for it to have been twice as long.

Scene 5 – Jelena Jensen and Sophia Santi

Jelena and Sophia start out the fifth scene in skimpy white outfits in a room where video flashes around on squares in the wall. It's an interesting scene with some decent style, but I think I would have liked it much better if it were about half as long and the other time given to one of the other scenes.

Scene 6 – Tory Lane and Scott Nails

Like so many other things artistic, Tryst is a bit hit or miss. There's definitely some hot sex here that rises far beyond where the lack of audio normally stops a scene, and as usual with Robby D. behind the camera the camera work is very nice. Sophia Santi is very nicely showcased throughout the movie, and although there are a couple scenes without her, the final scene is the only one where it really stands out due to it being the only scene without a brunette in it. The first three scenes and Tory Lane's scene are easily the hottest in the movie, while Jelena and Sophia's scene didn't do much of anything for me and I never really got into Gia's scene. Throughout it all there's a very artistic feel, and for the most part the sex is strong enough to break through the art so that there's a very good combination. If you're a fan of Sophia Santi and Celeste, Tryst is going to be a very nice treat, but if you're not a fan of Celeste I don't think there's anything here that's going to change your mind about her work.

There's a little random fun around the set before Sophia and Nevaeh get to know each other, as well as Sophia sharing an idea for the next AVN show. This is a pretty good behind the scenes featurette. As usual with Celeste's movies, Celeste is nowhere to be seen while Robby does all the things one would expect a director to be doing. At least he doesn't put on a dress to help get into the persona. Beyond that, this is a fun behind the scenes featurette with some nice personality from the stars and some decent humor. Yes, the fart jokes are back, but I'm just glad to see Digital Playground including a behind the scenes featurette again.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s bigger releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. Unless you're a fan of Celeste's and know what her style is like, rent this one first or aim low. There's nothing too new here with Celeste, which means some pretty hot sex and a very artistic feel. The technical aspects are very nicely done, and there's even a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a pretty good DVD.
