Initial Reaction: The only thing it has in common with the original is Deborah Wells playing one of the characters in each of them (and not the same character). Who Should Watch It : Fans of Tabitha Cash or NJ de Bahia Who Should Avoid It: Fans of the original Audio /Video Quality: The audio is available in both French and English. The French appears to be very clear, and although the English is clear, its also dubbed pretty poorly. The picture is pretty good but has a little grain.

Review brief: When Zara White first burst onto the adult movie screen in early 1990, she just so happened to appear in two of the very best works of erotica ever made: "House of Dreams" directed by Andrew Blake, and "Buttman's Ultimate Workout" directed by John Stagliano. Both movies received lots of critical acclaim, and both were extremely popular with an audience who were hungry for quality videos amidst the eighties glut of hardcore junk. Dark-haired, thin and with stunning good looks, Zara became a star overnight with the obviously winning combination of beauty and carnality. In both HOD and BUW, she appeared with the now legendary Rocco Siffredi, performing anal on camera and delivering a performance which made audiences (and their private parts) stand up and take notice. Zara then began to star in other videos, none of which really maintained the quality (not to mention success) of her work with Andrew Blake (where she had another scene with Rocco) or with Evil Angel (as she appeared in Buttman's European Vacation).

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who loves the natural form of a woman, fans of Andrew Blakes style or Zara Whites, and anybody interested in B&D but is a little afraid of it Who Should Avoid It: Extreme bondage fans and people who want straight hardcore fucking without any eroticism Audio /Video Quality: Surprisingly, both the audio and video are very good. This popular Arizona lake is the location of so many pornos, I hear the water level on occasion gets dangerously high. The scenery is nice however, and anything to do with water, outdoors and sex, I'm all for. I got this as a freebie with an online order, and though an all g/g wouldn't normally be one I would buy, I don't mind watching it occasionally, and it looked like a fun one. The box cover doesn't even list Alexandra, but does list a Barett Moore, who wasn't listed in the opening credits. The opening credits did list a Leah however, who was not on the box cover.

Review brief: Directed by Jon Dough Released 1/29/01 VHS, 6/01 DVD Cast: Brittany Blue, Princess, Cashmere, Candy, Foxy Lady, Monica Sweetheart, Eric Everhard, Bobby Vitale, Mark Davis, Vince Vouyer, Mario, Jon Dough This is Anabolic's "teen" line, and before each scene the girl shows her driver's license to prove that she is under the age of 20. The usual "little kid" and "porn for pedos" (TM Rog Pipe) stupid tricks are thankfully avoided. Instead, the sex is straight forward, albeit with young, often immature women who may not be the best performers. Jon Dough has been acting for about 15 years, and is very capable in that regard. But as with Sean Michaels, he seems to have grown bored with the world of porn, and during his 5 year or so directing career, has made many very mechanical pornos. They are technically proficient, with all the action clearly shot, but his movies lack and passion or distinction. Bring'Um Ypung 4 is no exception.

Review brief: Directed by Mike John Released 12/9/1999 VHS 7/2001 DVD Cast: Anastasia (aka Anastasia Blue), Daniella (aka Daniella Rush), Sharon, Laura, Cativa, Cherry, Cricket, Lexington Steele, Mr. Marcus, Sean Michaels, Jake Steed This series was begun by Sean Michaels, who can be a very good actor and director. But by around 1996 or so, he seemed to get bored with the porno scene, in part because he has probably done it all. The quality of his work seemed to go down, and Mike John was added to this series as co-director to make the results better. John was a nobody before getting hired on by Anabolic and Diabolic, but he quickly proved his abilities with movies like this one. I believe Sean Michaels still had a part in the creative aspects of Up Your Ass 12, but Up Your Ass 13 is purely a Mike John creation. Since he wasn't the much-lauded director he is now, he had to make do with an inferior collection of female talent.

Review brief: Directed by Jean-Yves LeCastel Released 12/8/1999 on VHS, 7/2001 on DVD Cast: Venus, Shannon, Mika, Sara, Monica Sweetheart, Lea DeMae, Beatrix (aka Katy, Kathy Heart & Brittany) LeCastel sometimes makes more than one movie at the same time. This was shot during roughly the same span as The Matador 5, and both include Venus, Monica and Lea. I consider the two equally good, and most of the comments on this one also apply to The Matador 5, which will be available on DVD soon (note that on the VHS of The Matador 5, Lea DeMae is miscredited, she's the blonde secretary, not the brunette in the preceding scene). Venus made a bunch of movies with LeCastel, she's on the cover of Debauchery 7 and appears in at least 4 others between his various series. I suspect she and LeCastel were bumping uglies off screen too, in real life. They certainly have a great ease and familiarity with one another.

So only certain women will be identified. LeCastel was in a rut of sorts, so to speak, when this one was shot. The women aren't real good looking, and their enthusiasm is mostly low, and the men are some of the scummiest he has even assembled for his formulaic movies. Why watch Assman 9? Well, it is good for those who simply want to see a lot of female buns get busted, and Catherine Count fans may want to see one of her early performances. Date of Production: 2/2000 (DVD released 9/2000). Running time: ~ 1 hour, 54 minutes. I wanted to like "Best Friends" more than I did; not least among the things it has going for it are good sex scenes, but I found the movie curiously flat, and I predominantly blame this effect on the plot and acting. I don't watch plotted porn for complex, interwoven story lines, but a reasonable effort is always appreciated, and may even help me enjoy a movie a little more than usual (e.g., Masque). Conversely, a lackluster story and/or setting can really drag something down for me. Unfortunately, "Best Friends" falls into the latter category; the resulting movie is a mostly nondescript affair, despite some fine sex scenes. The story is a minor variation of the old "cool guy tries to get nerdy friend laid" formula (see "Talk Dirty to Me", et. al.).

I've been really partial to this little flick since I first saw it on VHS a few years ago; the cast features some of my favorites, the sex is generally very good, and while the story itself is isn't exceptional, the acting doesn't cause me to wince. It's just a simple, straightforward depiction of a common fantasy (sex between a group of long-time friends) with a good cast and some hot performances. The plot concerns a gathering between three couples for a Halloween party, and the individual desire to have group sex that all of them secretly share. There are a number of brief asides between the actual story where each character, dressed in their Halloween costume, talks into the camera.

"Fade to Blue" tries very hard to be a slick, glossy stab at "art", but does this at the expense of any real excitement in the sex scenes. It's a very pretty flick, really, but its looks can't make up for the fact that I was sorely disappointed with the action. Juli narrates between the scenes, telling memories of her upbringing with her father at a small diner/gas station in the desert, and this is where all the action is set.

Review brief: When Zara White first burst onto the adult movie screen in early 1990, she just so happened to appear in two of the very best works of erotica ever made: "House of Dreams" directed by Andrew Blake, and "Buttman's Ultimate Workout" directed by John Stagliano. I believe Sean Michaels still had a part in the creative aspects of Up Your Ass 12, but Up Your Ass 13 is purely a Mike John creation. Since he wasn't the much-lauded director he is now, he had to make do with an inferior collection of female talent.

Unfortunately, "Best Friends" falls into the latter category; the resulting movie is a mostly nondescript affair, despite some fine sex scenes. "Fade to Blue" tries very hard to be a slick, glossy stab at "art", but does this at the expense of any real excitement in the sex scenes. It's a very pretty flick, really, but its looks can't make up for the fact that I was sorely disappointed with the action. Juli narrates between the scenes, telling memories of her upbringing with her father at a small diner/gas station in the desert, and this is where all the action is set.
