There are two movies included on the disc, Shaun Costello's Daughters of Discipline, which is missing at least 20 minutes of footage and isn't in great shape and Terry Sullivan's Young Girls in Bondage, which is such a bad film I am not sure how any masters managed to survive. The disc is poorly authored as well. There are three loops included on the disc, all in poor shape and all nasty and vile and hard to watch. I can't recommend this release for anyone. Beyond Desire is a typical couples film from the 1980s (1983 to be specific) in that the feature relies heavily on dialogue and plot and only offers short snippets of sex (4-5 minutes each). There is bad acting throughout, with the notable exception of John Leslie, who plays a private investigator staying in a whorehouse (dont ask why; its too stupid to explain) and doing just about all the hookers in the place. There are some huge names in this feature, including Gina Carrera, Nina Hartley, Seka, and Vanessa del Rio, who, unfortunately, gets only one short sex scene towards the end of the 83 minutes. The protagonist's name has been changed from Dorian Grey to "Darrin Blue," (played amazingly by Wade Nichols). And instead of a painting, his youthful image is captured on a porn film that his liberated 1920's flapper girlfriend (Georgina Spelvin) secretly had made of them making love outdoors. When she shows it to him later, he wishes that the image on the film could get old, and that he could stay youthful forever. You might have guessed that that is exactly what happens. The 1930s have Wade Nichols doing a remarkable imitation of James Cagney, during the 1940s, he's doing Humphrey Bogart (and Annette Haven). During the 50s, he's doing James Dean and making love on his motocycle. During the 1960s, still as youthful as ever, he is, you guessed it, a hippie doing drugs and having an orgy. Afternoon Delights is an excellent vignette feature film from prolific golden age director Shaun Costello. Costello put as much work into the non-sexual portions of the film as the sexual portions of the filmmaking Afternoon Delights feel, even though the sex scenes really aren't connected, like they all are connected and that the film is one continuous story.
