General Impression I was a little worried that the whole sex-plus-slasher thing might be unerotic, but the slasher stuff is done basically in a B movie sort of style -- dribbles or flecks of blood, girls running comically around in high heels, and the violence is either implied, or is mild enough to leave you snickering. You're also going to love guessing the age of some of the actors playing 18 to 28 year olds. The first four scenes are decent scenes shot in the dim lighting of cars parked at night. The last three scenes notch up the heat, especially the fifth and seventh scenes. The fifth scene, Devinn Lane with Randy Spears, is terrific and has replay value, and is my reason for recommending this movie.

So I was thinking, "great, but I've kind of seen it before." Then along came ProfessiAnals 2, and suddenly he's got my attention again. What's different here? Without the doofy narration by a horse and a few violations of my pet peeves (such as instant replays of cumshots), I'd have given it five stars. But who cares about the narration? There are some great scenes here. Other than Ashton and Christian, none of the guys had done a film before. And their fresh, unjaded approach was unimpeded by coaching from the director. He basically just set them out in a field on a very private farm, and let them do as they pleased. There's a refreshing lack of posturing for the camera. General Impression For me, this had great value as an historical artifact, partly because I can remember this time period. I was 12 in 1969, when Poole began filming. I lived an hour from San Francisco, and went there regularly, picking up copies of the Berkeley Barb and soaking up the ambience. Our junior high buried a time capsule in 1970, to be opened in the year 2000. We dropped into the capsule a pair of bellbottoms and a Jacksons album, among other things. I was born a moment too late to be on the cusp of many of the changes that took place, but I observed them anyway. I had always heard that Deep Throat was the first feature length hard-core movie.

This one has less plot and more sex. They spent a lot of money on this movie, and it shows. But they weren't too careful about historical accuracy. That's okay, though. Part of the fun of the movie is giggling over the I Dream of Jeannie hair and fake eyelashes, the shaved pussies, the shiny hair scrunchy, the thong tan lines, and so forth. The plot is going to lose you a bit at first -- not because it is complicated, but because quite a bit of the dialogue is mumbled or at low volume, and the characters speak of several people without any explanation of who they are talking about.

The characters are mostly 'farmboys' who have very nice haircuts and are sauna-scrubbed and squeaky clean under those shirtless overalls. I almost want to call this one The eye-contact movie, as they seem to have had a lot of fun with that, as well. The plot, such as it is, involves an interloper who visits a small village and witnesses or joins a few sexual encounters.

The plot involves princess Stormy fleeing evil overlord Mike Horner and his sidekicks Kyle and Devinn, with the help of her protectors, Randy and Evan. General Impression This is a truly funny parody of just about every space-themed tv show or movie that I've seen. The humor is closest in temperament to the smirky, wry Mystery Science Theater 3000. The budget for this feature was $200,000 -- about six times the amount that Morgan is usually given. No expense was spared, and it shows in the impressive costumes, stage sets, special effects, and makeup. I found it thoroughly enjoyable, and would recommend it to friends. Several of the actors did a particularly fine job, Evan Stone, Devinn Lane, Mike Horner, and Randy Spears among them. Mike was working under a prosthetic mask, and was still able to deliver priceless facial expressions. But Devinn was our favorite, spirited and sumptuous as the Dark Witch.

Review brief: Description This is a gay porn 'remake' of All About Eve. The main character 'sleeps his way to the top.' General Impression It has its moments of kitschy fun, but the acting is better in many a high school play. Actually, the acting varies widely - it's great fun to see Jason Andrews playing the 'Bette Davis' role, but a few others in the cast can't match his talent. The sex is pretty hot and enthusiastic in the third and the last scenes. Disclaimer - I'm a straight female, and this is only the second gay porn movie I've watched. Sex In the first scene, Tony tries to placate and calm Jason. Their initial sparring settles into something more sensual, but the scene is a weak one - far, far into the scene, Tony is still not fully hard. Chi Chi mentions on the director's commentary that this scene was a tough one to shoot as the men are longtime old friends, and hadn't really contemplated ever doing a scene together. The longer foreplay was good, though, and the way Tony handles his dick as he holds it up for Jason to taste in short, choppy dips.

Review brief: Description Soft-focus 'porn for women' comedy with condom use. The plot is a satire about making an adult movie, mostly auditioning the male talent. Initial Impressions I like the idea of porn that loses the misogyny and formulaic aspects of a lot of porn, and that has more focus on the chemistry between the players. And so I always want to like Candida Royalle's movies, but they are so slow and boring that it takes major courage for me to pop one in the dvd player. I was thinking that maybe my memories of how slow these things are has become exaggerated. Or maybe she has changed lately and picked up the pace? Nope, I guess not! General Comments The plot provides a few minutes of chuckles, but not many for an 82 minute film. Much of what is meant to be funny is only a ludicrous flop.

My husband and I got a kick out the piano player's fake playing and out of the 'old fashioned' playing cards which are charming and look handmade. Anyway, Kylie steps into the argument between the men and offers them a way to settle their differences peaceably.
