Runaway (Vivid Wave) review summaries:
fu_q's
Savannah's and Randy Spears' summer vacation is coming to an end, and neither is looking forward to returning to the hustle and bustle of the big city. Compounding matters, Randy's ex-roommate shows up, sending Savannah into a tizzy, and then the guys bring home an itinerant sex-pot whom they meet on the beach, Tianna, and things get worse. Whether they'll all ultimately find a way to get along or whether things will completely blow apart in the last few days of their break remains the burning question of the day. Such is the case in "Runaway", an overall-good, 1992 release from Vivid and Paul Thomas / Judy Blue. [read the full review]

Twisted: A Portrait of a Different Color review summaries:
fu_q's
Transitioning from a hesitant and faithful wife into a wanton, lustful cougar, a beautiful, big-busted working woman (Christy Canyon) finds herself slowly drawn into a torrid affair with a younger, engaged co-worker (T.T. Boy) in "Twisted: A Portrait of a Different Color". A decent, 1990 flick from Paul Thomas and Vivid's Wave brand, this film offers up the adult film legend and hall-of-famer, Christy Canyon, whose stunning good looks, soft curves, and ample bosom have been lighting up the small screen since the mid-80's, in the bulk of its scenes. Bonnie & Clyde 4: The Revenge of Bonnie & Clyde review summaries:
fu_q's
The plot thickens for the stunningly gorgeous actress, Racquel Darrian, and her sugar-daddy hubby, Buck Adams, as the film that the latter is financing for the former finds the two driven further and further apart. Of course, Adams' building jealousy and the tantalizing, extramarital temptations that they both face don't help much, either. Such is the case in "Bonnie & Clyde 4: The Revenge of Bonnie and Clyde", the overall-good conclusion to Paul Thomas' and Vivid's series of the mid-1990's. [read the full review]

Bonnie & Clyde 3: Secrets of Bonnie and Clyde review summaries:
fu_q's
"Bonnie & Clyde 3: The Secrets of Bonnie and Clyde" is the third installment in the mid-90s series of films from Vivid and Paul Thomas that nominally recounts the tale of the infamous duo named in the title. While the first two flicks did just that, this third one in the sequence actually shifts gears a bit, as it focuses in on the fictitious filming of a "Bonnie & Clyde" movie. [read the full review]

Title: The Heiress Studio: Vivid Wave Running length: 90 minutes too long D.O.P. 11/20/00 is only date given Writer/Director: Paul Thomas Female cast:Samantha Strong, Stephanie Rage, Sioban Hunter, Ona Zee Male cast: Jeff Stryker, Nick Ferrar, Lou Paul, Damien Cashmere (Randy West)? Audio/Video: Bad. Only because of what you CAN see and hear. Perhaps duct tape over the camera lens would have been an improvement. You can always use your MUTE button to help things along as well. OK, speaking strictly about the A/V only, it still wasn't good, especially during the sex scenes. At times too shadowy, and only a couple of different angles used detracted from any enjoyment. Or, maybe not. Extras: some good previews, with Raquel Darrien and Alexandra Silk. Some trailers were also on the flip side. General comments: Let's just say that Randy West was the least offensive thing in this whole production. That should be enough to lose a few readers right there, and I understand. Cast: Jennifer Stewart, Heather Sinclair ("Heather St. Clair" on box), Danielle Rogers, Casey ("Cerrise" aka K.C. Extras: Ten previews and 24 bonus scenes. This is a double-sided disc, with most of the extras on the flip side. I am unable to find the biographies advertised on the box. Audio/visual quality: During portions of this feature, the audio is imperfectly synched with the video (the actors' mouths move first, and their voices follow a fraction of a second later). Video noise disrupts the picture in a few places, but it's extremely brief and not highly noticeable. Crew members' shadows are occasionally visible. Emphasis is placed on medium length shots, with above average attention to facial expressions. [read the full review]

Supermodel 2: Lene's Day Off review summaries:
Principal Skinner's
To paraphrase a certain super-movie slogan, "if you haven't seen the first part, then you haven't seen the best part!" which can be applied to this sequel to SUPERMODEL, a Wave Video release which was a pretty damn good mid-nineties movie that deserved a second chance at finding a wider audience on DVD. Although the "prequel" stood on its won as a complete, self-contained film, SUPERMODEL 2 features most of the same characters and refers to the original crime story as the first, but I found the sex to be less imaginative and less heated overall. The story is interesting by porn-standards, involving a mystery criminal and the subsequent investigation by detective Buck Adams, but the movie works better as just plain old porn. Even though Lene is the star of the show, allow me to sing my first praises over Leena, an auburn- haired sex bomb with a fantastic figure and gorgeous looks. [read the full review]

Ashlyn Rising review summaries:
moneybagzz's
OK first off, let me say that I am a huge Ashlyn Gere fan. I've met her on a couple of occasions (OK, strip clubs), and she is extremely nice to her fans. That being said, this is a fine example of her work; she does NOT hold anything back. If you like Ashlyn Gere, or would like to see her talents showcased, then run (don't walk!) to the nearest website and plunk down your money. High Points in a nutshell: Lady Ashlyn Gere > Threesome, G/G and Interracial (see more details below) Other performers are ok, but not the main focus. Low Points in a nutshell: Image quality. It deserves to have been shot on 70MM surround sound ultra-high-definition archival grade stock, but was shot, in all likelihood on video. Also, her voice gets some kind of distortion effect @ the worst possible time. Details: I won't go too deeply into the plot or any lengthy critique of the acting, but take my word for it that there is a plot that can be easily followed. [read the full review]

Plenty of trouble--and a heapin' helpin' of country carnality and backwoods boinking--follow, when the infamously randy, outlaw duo of Bonnie and Clyde find their way into Racquel Darrian's small, rustic town. Such is the case in the aptly titled production from Vivid and Paul Thomas, "Bonnie and Clyde". A very good release featuring some of the hottest stars of its day (...or of any day, for that matter...), this one is strong on plot, settings, and sex and is likely to please even the more sophisticated of feature fan. Bonnie & Clyde is a great couples film with a slim plot holding it together. I cant recommend it for fans of nasty sex or people who cant stand any plot in their adult films as there is enough of a plot here that it will interfere with their viewing. It would have been nice if the video had been of better quality and that instead of putting the useless standard Vivid special features that the two films had been presented in their entirety as there would have been plenty of space for them. Vivid has done an acceptable job with their DVD release of Bonnie & Clyde. [read the full review]

Running Time: 68 min. Production Date: 1989 Director: Paul Thomas Cast: Julianne James, Barbara Dare, Hyapatia Lee, Raquel Darian, Tom Byron, Eric Price, Jeff James, Debi Diamond, Claire Tyler, and Tantalla Initial Expectations: I enjoyed Brat Force and am a comic geek. Combining a porno and super heroes sounded like a lot of fun. Its a Vivid release, so I dont expect too much. Initial Reaction: Its a lot of fun and my favorite of the Brat movies so far, but I wonder what happened to the rest of the cast. Audio /Video Quality: Both are pretty good for the age of the movie. The audio has a little dubbing and there are a couple spots that are kind of hard to hear, but its better than I expected. The video is slightly grainy and has a few cloudy spots. Its a little better than the other Brat movies and pretty respectable for the age of the movie when one considers what the original was probably like. Music: The music is a lot of fun and helps out the movie a lot. [read the full review]

Army Brat, part of the Brat series from Vivid, is a fun amusing movie from the 80's. What makes this movie so fun is that the cast, themselves, seems to be having a good time which compensates for the silly plot. The plot is enough to keep the film going, but not enough that you have to worry about getting dragged down by it. The acting is incredibly cheesy but fun to watch. Vivid has done a decent job with their DVD release of Army Brat. [read the full review]

Former Penthouse Pet Racquel looks incredible as always. I enjoyed watching her getting turned on as she watched Derrick Lane fuck dyke-queen Alex Jordan. A dog to be sure, but a pro in the sack. Jordon was one of the best pussy eaters in the business, so you know any scene with her and some nice, young piece of ass will conclude with Alex burying her face in the girl's muffin. No exception here. After Derrick bangs her, Alex goes over to Racquel and starts eating her rad pussy. I wish these two would have fucked for the whole movie. Jordan is a pleasure to watch at work, and if you like to see pretty girls getting it on with skanky porn queens, then this is for you! As much fun as it is to watch Racquel get it on with the Nikki Tyler's, Janine's and Asia Carrera's of porn, its also a blast to see her dyke-it-out with chicks like Jordan, Tianna, Tyffany Million, Bionca and Tiffany Minx. Silent Strangers is a pretty good film, with one very notable scene. To me, putting together a seasoned veteran of girl/girl action together with a young scorching hottie is a real treat. The late Alex Jordon was an amazing pussy eater who, despite not being very attractive, was paired with some unbelievably hot chicks to make for some of the most energetic lesbian porn of the 90's. Jordon sort of had a rough look to her, like a biker chick with a lot of miles on her, but she seemed really sweet too. During her career, she got it on with everyone from Nikki Dial, Janine Linemulder and Racquel Darrian among many, many others. Lots of young cuties learned the lesbian ropes from Jordon, who was not unlike Nina Hartley, Jenna Fine, Tianna and Debbi Diamomd, in that they were never considered totally hot, but they could light up a girl/girl scene like you would not believe. Jordon really knew how to get a scene going. [read the full review]

Tina Tyler is awesome in this crime caper though she is underused. Kylie Ireland does not dissapoint except that, being so wonderul as she is, she should have been more active (some dirty talk would have been nice), and speaking of dirty talk, Anna Malle is just too tame! Maybe she needed a cock to get her going. [read the full review]

Bedlam Studio: Vivid Wave Starring Female: Celeste, Jenteal, Nikki Tyler, Amber Woods Looks: Oh man she is hot. Speaking about Celeste. First Impression: Well I was expecting better picture and audio quality. Considering I use to have the VCD. Well it delivered that. Likes: Celeste and the Plot Dislikes: Video Quality is better than my VCD but still not upto par for what DVD should be. Reviews: Good sex with a plot! Now that's rare. I have Bedlam on VCD. It was great! Nikki Tyler & Celeste how hot is that. Well anyways I bought this DVD a long time ago. The video quality is better than my VCD which is to be expected. What makes this DVD special? The plot. The story is about an old bed telling the other younger beds about its life story. His stories are all about SEX! Each story is about who has done the nasty deed on him. Mostly great sex scenes. There is one funny editing glitch that was on my VCD which also appears on the DVD. In the scene with the prostitute and she comes out of the restroom. [read the full review]

Blame It On Ginger review summaries:
fu_q's
Saddled with a nerdy boyfriend, the blonde darling of the 80's porn scene, Ginger Lynn, decides that she's going to save face with her friends by telling them that her guy's a real rock star between the sheets. Of course, it's all bullshit, and it quickly touches off a number of problems in everyone's relationships that ultimately culminate in a massive milieu of adulterous fucking and sucking. Such is the case in "Blame It On Ginger", an overall-good, 1985 release from Vivid and Henri Pachard. [read the full review]

Blame it on Ginger is a rather standard film from Vivid in the late 80s, due to the less than perfect audio and video, I suggest only picking this one up if you are a big fan of one or more of the stars. The film will be liked by fans of a plot based adult films and couples. Those who don't like a plot or like nastier sex will want to steer clear of this film. [read the full review]

Blow Dry (Vivid Wave) review summaries:
Rick L. Blalock's
In the 1997 film, BLOW DRY, Emilio(TT Boy), is just one of those guys, whom we sense, only gets a haircut because he has to. However, one such trip to a salon owned by a woman named Bella(Morgan Fairlane) makes a deep impression on him. So much so, that 15 years later, Emilio shows up at the same salon, as he hopes to get his ears lowered again by the seductive stylist. Unfortunately, however, Emilio is shocked to find that it isn't Bella who is minding the store, but a new young lady, by the name of Anna(Jenteal), who is much more prettier than Bella. Anna motions to Emilio the shop's closed status. However, he is mesmerized at this beauty, and makes it a point to stop in the next day for a cut. Emilio, pleased with this experience, dives right in, as immediately following the haircut, he spontaneously pops the question to Anna, as he asks her to marry him. [read the full review]

* DIRECTOR: Toni English. * DURATION: »85mins. * STARRING: Anna Malle, Celeste, Nancy Vee, Nikole Lace & Nina Hartley. OVERALL: I really wanted to like this movie it seems so hard to find a decent Celeste film (the sexy covers tend to be misleading). Sadly, the plot is barely enough to keep viewers awake and the sex is Vivid through and through; I shouldnt have expected anything else but I took a gamble. Might be remotely of interest to couples. If anyone has recommendations for a good Celeste film please e-mail me. FEMALE LOOKS: The women sport early 90s hairstyles but were quite good-looking, particularly Celeste (as always). The other brunettes were good too Anna in a sexy business suit, Nancy in a red leather get-up and Nikole in lingerie. Nina however brought things down a notch. MALE LOOKS: The usual mix a guy with annoying long hair (Marc Wallice), a pensioner (Joey Silvera), a guy who could be good-looking but just looks weird (Woody Long) and Steven St. [read the full review]

Generation X (Vivid) review summaries:
Darkmage's
The Plot: You know, its a pity to start a review on such a downer, but this is really the failing point of the movie. The movie is supposedly about our favorite perpetually confused generation, with no role models and no goals in life, right? Being a member of the tail end of Generation X myself, I was hoping that this movie would have some people my age doing the old what have I done with my life? routine in a coffee shop. (This would, of course, lead to sex in the coffee shop.) I dont know what I was thinking. Its a porn movie, for nogs sake. This movie is completely devoid of any plot whatsoever. There is dialogue, there is some semblance of time passing linearly, but thats about it. Our plot follows the adventures of some apartment dwellers as they go through one day. We start with Tom Byron annoying the hell out of his neighbor Roxanne Hall by blasting his stereo and playing on his air guitar. We set up the fact that she cant work while he plays his music. Then, we jump jarringly to a photo shoot of Nikole Lace and Sindee Coxx, who are performing for Alec Metro. [read the full review]

A beautiful, young woman born into money, Ginger Lynn, can have any man (...and anything...) that she wants, yet what she really wants and needs is true love. Title: Made In Japan Studio: vivid wave Starring: Mimi Miyagi, Hyapatia Lee, Shawnee, Debbie Diamond, Tim Wakefield, Scott Irish, Randy Spears First Impression: I had seen the opening on VCD. And for $4.99 why not see the rest? What I should have done: I should have skipped this and gone with HoustonDon's approach and picked up TinaT movies during that sale. Review: Mimi introduces herself and tries to dispell some myths about Asian women. So far so good. But this opening scene seems to be cut a bit short. Hey what was I expecting? Vivid's had this reputation. Well this DVD poses as an asian DVD movie. Which it is not, sure it has some Mimi in it but does she alone make it an asian DVD?? I think not. On the back of the DVD: "Think of it as shogun meets show world. But with a bed instead of a runway. Made in japan. You will think you are turning Japanese, You will really think so." Uhmmm I don't think so. Mimi is the only Japanese person in this movie. Everyone else is.. Not. She masturbates between each of the scenes. And only appears in the final scene. [read the full review]

Night Nurses (Vivid Wave) review summaries:
Darkmage's
The Plot: Once upon a time, there was a student nursing program at a hospital. These student nurses were paid a small salary to help them pay their way through school and incidentally gain some experience in their chosen profession. But all is not well in the kingdom of chemical smells and scary people in white coats that keep wanting me to put on that jacket with the long sleeves that is just too tight... It appears that the nurses have been handing out some rather unusual physical therapy treatments to the patients. "Unusual?" I hear you ask, "What do you mean, unusual?" It's a porn movie, take a wild guess. In fact, after the morning rejuvenating treatment on a very happy patient, our hero Andrea (Nina Hartley) gets called into her supervisor's office (Jon Dough) where she gets the bad news: The hospital is cutting the budget, and specifically her student nursing program. Naturally, since Andrea's job is the student nursing program, she is out the door when the program ends as well. [read the full review]

Running Time: 1:15 Cast: Asia Carrera, Nina Hartley, Brittany Andrews, Nici Sterling, Sindee Coxx, Steven St. Croix, Tom Byron, Bobby Vitali, and Jon Dough Director: Toni English Extras: The same extras that are one almost all of the Vivid Wave titles. A few short biographies, interactive sex, and a few previews. Audio / Video Quality: The video quality is better than average. The picture is quite clear, and there weren't any spots where I thought it was grainy. The audio is a little below average. In a few parts the sound echoes slightly, however the main problem is the audio level. Normally on my TV I have the volume in the low 20s. For Night Nurses, I had to turn it up to almost 40 to try and hear anything. At least the audio track matched the video well. The Rest: "We all want our patients to leave here happy, happy, happy." Nina Hartley says at one point. That shouldn't be a problem with the treatments patients get at this hospital. [read the full review]

Plaything (Vivid Wave) review summaries:

After youve watched enough X-rated DVDs, you start to notice little clues about them that can tell you whether or not this particular disc has a future in your permanent collection, or if it is going to be used to prop up that pesky table that wobbles. There are some warning signs that are usually a good indicator of whether or not to avoid the disc. A large warning sign is if there is no description of the DVD on the box. Another warning sign of a bad porn movie is if there is no list of the performers on the box, either. That in mind, consider that Vivids DVD of Plaything has nothing on the box except a couple of pretty pictures and a list of the special features. Sound ominous? It is. But read on, intrepid porn fans. Find out if Plaything is worth playing with. The Plot: Who watches the watchmen? Or, in a modern bent on a classic situation, we join Paula (Nikki Tyler), a sexual relationship counselor who has been having relationship troubles. [read the full review]

Extras: Eight biographies, ten previews and 33 bonus scenes. Audio/visual quality: The camerawork is sure and steady, with a nice mix of long, medium and close-up shots. A few shadows fall on the action, but they're not too bad. Audio is a bit hollow and spotty in places. As might be expected in the outdoor settings, there's a little noise from wind, airplanes, a police siren, etc. Some of the music is markedly better than typical porno tunes from the early 1990s. * DIRECTOR: Paul Thomas (1995) * DURATION: »80mins * FEMMES: Asia Carrera, Celeste, Crystal Gold, Laura Palmer & Tammi Ann. WELCOME to Rieekan Review #10 Trouble Maker. Celeste is my reigning All-Star Queen but didnt have many sex scenes in Borderline, though the movie itself was quite good. I was hoping Trouble Maker would be a better showcase for the busty brunette and was pleased. For some less complimentary words, jump to reviewers review. Celeste plays the trouble-making Shane, who comes between newlywed Asia & Eric Price in the name of manipulative fun. Shes found dead at the start of the movie, with the obsessive Tony Tedeschi reading letters he wrote to her as he watched her wreak havoc with others lives. The plot and acting (particularly Celestes) were pretty good, as one would hope to find in a Paul Thomas movie, the only letdowns in the production values being the clothing and music. EXTRAS: [Side A] 5 chapters, 8 bios, 3 sex scenes & website preview. [Side B] 10 previews & 15 sex scenes. [read the full review]

Two Hearts review summaries:
Rieekan's
* DIRECTOR: Gloria Leonard. * DURATION: »65mins. * STARRING: Kym Wilde, Ona Zee & Racquel Darrian. Two Hearts is a very soft, couples-oriented flick from Vivid Wave, starring Ona Zee and a young Racquel Darrian. Its a fairly standard set-up with Ona and Racquel sharing the spotlight equally. The plot was typically corny and poorly acted, sub-par even for a Vivid film, but it was light and inoffensive and Im not going to be unnecessarily harsh in this review. One warning though I clocked this DVD in at a very lean 67 minutes and I believe the VHS version is closer to 86! The big 90s hairdos aside, the women in the cast were attractive with nice bodies ranging from Onas firm voluptuousness to Racquels lean lines, and Kym Wildes natural appeal somewhere in the middle. Another thing to note is that the sex is filmed for couples and is fairly light, with a lot of R-rated shots and some missing pops. I think that actually worked to the movies advantage given the market it's aimed at. The direction was decent and the A/V quality was surprisingly good for such an old feature. [read the full review]

Running Time: 1:11 Cast: Ashlyn Gere, Rebecca Bardot, Valeria, Nikki Sinn, Brittany O'Connell, Melanie Moore, Diedre Holland, Timber, Brooke Ashley, Wynona, Chaz Vincent, Dizzy Blonde, Alex Sanders, Tom Byron, Steven St.Croix, J.P Anthony, John O'Connell, and Stevie Stharr Director: Layne Parker Extras: Biographies, previews, and interactive sex Audio / Video Quality: Excellent. The picture is very clear and the audio matches it throughout the movie. There was only one spot where I didn't think the audio quite matched the video. The Rest: I had some fairly high hopes when I first watched 'Voices In My Bed'. Ashlyn Gere has always been one of my favorite adult film stars, and I'm hoping she makes a comeback soon. My hopes rose a little when I saw that she wrote the script for Voices. Within the first 5 seconds after the opening credits, my hopes started to pay off. The camera work was excellent from the start, switching between color and black and white shots with some chains hanging down rattling. [read the full review]

Ghost Town (Vivid) review summaries:
fu_q's
Their car broken down, Lori Michaels, a true Texas tart, and her guy, Bobby Vitale, find themselves stranded in a nigh-deserted Arizona town near the Mexico line. As it turns out, the little berg in the middle of nowhere, Providence, isn't quite as empty as it seems... if one counts the rough, ready, and randy ghosts that the couple encounters as inhabitants, that is. Such is the case in "Ghost Town", a very good, mid-90s fuck-flick from Vivid and Toni English. [read the full review]

Running Time: 73 min. Production Date: 1993 Director: Paul Thomas Cast: Lene' Hefner, Lacy Rose, Sierra, Brittany O'Connell, Mark Davis, Jon Dough, Nick East, Steven St. Croix Extras: The typical Vivid Wave extras. Previews, bios, 'interactive' sex, and AVN highlights. It's the same extras as the other Wave DVDs. Audio Quality: Average. There are a couple of spots that seem like they may have been dubbed, but it's not overly noticeable. There are also a few places where the sound seems to lose its depth, which probably added to my feeling of parts being dubbed. Video Quality: The picture shows a lot of grain, but I think that comes more from the original than the transfer. Music: The music comes and goes throughout the movie, but since it seems to be on purpose, it isn't too bad. When the music does stop, it seems to be the end of the song and you have some of the sounds of the people. Initial Expectations: Paul Thomas normally does a pretty good porno without much plot but with some average to better than average sex. [read the full review]

Masseuse 2 (Vivid) review summaries:

This is not your typical erotic cinema. Ms. Gere really tries to flex her acting chops, which means as the better actresses go, she qualifies for soap opera work on the networks. It is almost mystifying as to how much drama is instilled over actual fuck scenes. Still, Ms. Gere is so stunning and so cock-hardening, she carries the film. The strap-on scence is not my thing but it gets by. Asia Carrera is underused and it would have been dynamite to have her and Ms. [read the full review]

The First Word: This second movie in Paul Thomas' Masseuse series emphasizes plot above all else and dares to depict situations not normally shown in porn. But in the end, while it's an interesting drama with credible acting performances, the sex action doesn't live up to the fact that Masseuse 2 is a hardcore adult movie. Plot Synopsis: Masseuse 2 is the story of two massage therapists, Noreen (Ashlyn Gere) and Anita (Asia Carerra) who work in a seedy Los Angeles massage parlor. [read the full review]
