Review brief: Cast: Alexandra Silk, Angelica Sin, Marie Silva, Robin Foster, Lori Rivers, Luc Wylder, Peter Foster, Jack Bravo and Rich Handsome. Director: Luc Wylder Production date: 11/18/00 (opening statement); 2/26/01 (box) Length: 106 min. Extras: A 54-min. behind-the-scenes featurette, bios for all female cast, 16 trailers, a gallery with 20 photos (viewable as thumbnails and a slide show) and a hot shot button. Audio/visual quality: The video quality is pretty good, with decent lighting and only minor soft focus issues. Equipment and crew members sometimes appear at the edges of the screen, which is not uncommon for gonzo productions. The white balance is off in scene three, giving the flesh tones an orange cast. The camera angles emphasize close-ups to a greater extent than I recall for other episodes I've seen. This may or may not be a good thing, depending on viewer preference.

Review brief: Cast: Nicole Sheridan, Chennin Blanc, Charlie, Lola, Zana, Voodoo, Cheyne Collins and Billy Glide. Director: Luc Wylder Production date: 9/6/02 Length: 87 min. Extras: A 27-min. behind-the-scenes featurette, bios for all actresses, two previews and a slide show with 44 images. Audio/visual quality: Camerawork is not always Wylder's forte, but this particular title includes enough angles to keep me satisfied. The focus almost always stays sharp in the close-ups. The lighting is saturated in places; however, this tends to be more of an problem in the house tours than during the actual sex. The DVD authoring is far from stellar. I have deducted a half star from the audiovisual rating because I am distracted by random artifacts throughout the movie and by a persistent flicker at the top of the screen. Except during the credits, there is no music.

Directed by: Luc Wylder

Review brief: Cast: Alexandra Silk, Alexis Amore, Alexis Fire, Sydnee Steele, Jessica Drake, T.J. Cummings, Rob Dancer (aka Rod Danger at IAFD), Evan Stone and Luc Wylder in sex roles; The Cigar Man and Scarlet Begonia in non-sex roles. Director and writer: Luc Wylder Production date: 5/12/00 Length: 115 min. Lagniappes: (That's New Orleans-speak for extras...) A 31-min. behind-the-scenes featurette, bios for all female cast, 14 trailers, a gallery with 37 photos (viewable as thumbnails and slide show) and a hot shot button. Audio/visual quality: Fallen Angel DVDs tend to be uneven in technical qualitysometimes the lighting or camera angles leave a lot to be desired. But Sex Across America Second Stop: New Orleans is probably the best I've yet seen from this studio. The footage from the two cameras has been edited together in a pleasing manner, usually letting me see what I want to see (the biggest exception is the indirect view of the anal sex in the third scene). A few places are slightly overlit (leading to saturation), and a few are slightly underlit (leading to grain).

Review brief: Cast: Claudia Chase, Candy Roxxx, Billy Glide and Alex Sanders. Director: Luc Wylder Production date: 5/3/02 Length: 80 min. Extras: A slide show with 20 photos. Audio/visual quality: The lighting is poorly balanced. The backgrounds are overly bright, and the performers' skins are dark. The handheld camerawork meanders and occasionally suffers from jitters. The angles are too often indirect and dissatisfying. Seven minutes into the movie, I'm already feeling frustrated that so much of the view has been devoted to food and to headless torsos. The focus is a bit soft in places but not bad overall. There are also continuity problems and a few scattered artifacts. The music (rock instrumentals and electronica of questionable quality) supplies the only audio for the first 21 minutes. The sex sounds are nicely audible when they finally do enter the mix. The second scene is exclusively live sound. Unfortunately, traffic noise filters in from outside, and there's also a pretty strong echo in the room. Much of the murmured sex talk is incomprehensible.

Extras: A 31-min. behind-the-scenes featurette, pop shot button, bios for all female cast, four trailers and a slide show with 40 photos. Audio/visual quality: The visual quality is adequate. Several locations are cramped, which somewhat limits the camera angles. There are infrequent problems with soft focus and artifacts. During the hotel scenes, lighting woes result from the high contrast ratios between the windows and interiors. Some action is saturated; some is backlit. The color balance is slightly off in a few edits, with skin tones appearing a bit blue in the wintery sunlight. The audio has good volume and sufficient clarity throughout. Sex scenes include live sound only; a few grunts and moans are loud enough cause a little distortion.

Audio/visual quality: Overall, the audiovisual quality of the movies is acceptable given their age. Both are shot on film, with minimal scratches and other blemishes in the prints. The colors in Delicious appear somewhat faded with time, and the original editing feels choppy, with too many quick cuts between genital and facial close-ups. Cummings, Anthony Crane and several uncredited actors in non-sex roles. Director: Toni English Production date: 4/18/01 (box); 1/17/02 (feature) Length: 79 min. feature, plus 8 min. from volumes three (recap) and five (preview) Extras: A 10-min. bonus scene from Third Eye, seven short biographies (Nina, Lauren, Dee, Keri, Angelica, Mickey, John), three trailers and a slide show with 20 photos. Audio/visual quality: The lighting is extremely gentle, but not so dim that the action can't be seen. The close-ups are well focused. A small amount of enhanced motion ("slo mo") is present in the second scene. There are a few minor blemishes, which mostly consist of an occasional darkening at the corners. Otherwise, the video quality is very good. The audio quality is only average. The music loops noticeably. The narration is flat and occasionally unintelligible.

Review brief: Cast: Nina Hartley, Missy, Mickey G., Midori (with partner Michael), Aiko (with partner Dave), Ty Law. Director: Nina Hartley Production date: 1/97 Length: 158 min. Extras: A three-page biography of Nina (with no option for viewers to navigate at their own pace). Audio/visual quality: The visual quality is weak. The images are too soft, and the colors are washed out. Light levels vary noticeably when the camera angles change. There are problems with shadows, poor focus, oversaturated and insufficient lighting (both extremes) and blemishes that look like scratches in the master print. We do get a direct view of the action much of the time, however. The audio quality is also substandard. There are persistent and annoying background sounds, as if the microphone is repeatedly bumped. Dubbing is obvious in a couple places. Several scenes contain jazz music, which is quite pleasant except for the obvious looping. The sound of one of Nina's climaxes has been edited out.

Director: Luc Wylder Production date: 4/04/01 (box); 2/26/02 (opening statement) Length: 111 min. Extras: A 32-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, pop shot button, short bios for all female cast, three trailers and a slide show with 40 photos. Audio/visual quality: The visual quality is usually quite satisfactory, with clear and easily seen action. There are minor ongoing problems with soft focus, too much backlighting, a bit of graininess, intrusions of equipment at the edge of the screen and a couple of off-camera directions. These are issues that might be expected for a gonzo production, however, and they aren't too bothersome. The music typically has a light, easygoing island flavor that supports the scenes. When the performers are near the surf, the live sex sounds sometimes get a little lost, but I'm sure that couldn't be helped. There are no problems whatsoever with wind noise during any of the outdoor scenes.

Director: Bud Lee Production date: 4/20/98 Length: 107 min. Extras: Two trailers and a silent slide show with 20 photos. Audio/visual quality: The visual quality is adequate, though it lacks in crispness. Emphasis is on soft-core shots. A boom mike dances around the edge of the screen in scene two, creating a minor distraction. The soundtrack is synth rock and light jazz. It won't win any awards, but it's mostly inoffensive. The volume of the music varies a bit within the scenes, but it's well balanced with the sex sounds. Some audio noise and background sounds are present. In general, the volume is on the quiet side, though not intolerably so. False advertising: This is a subtle point, but both reviewer and Astroknight have mentioned that Tina Tyler should appear on the cover. I agree.

If I quit during the middle of the scene and later reopen the application, the disc restarts at the FBI warning screen. This is rather annoying.
