Audio/visual quality: Camerawork is not always Wylder's forte, but this particular title includes enough angles to keep me satisfied. The focus almost always stays sharp in the close-ups. The lighting is saturated in places; however, this tends to be more of an problem in the house tours than during the actual sex. The DVD authoring is far from stellar. I have deducted a half star from the audiovisual rating because I am distracted by random artifacts throughout the movie and by a persistent flicker at the top of the screen. Except during the credits, there is no music. The location sound is sometimes a little hollow, but it's pretty good overall.

Blunders, bugs and boo-boos: There are nearly five minutes of forced advertising and announcements before the menu, which is always a pet peeve for me. The menu button is disabled during this portion of the DVD, but fortunately, it is possible to skip or scan through some of the individual segments.

First impression: You might like to come in and stay awhile!

Scene highlights: Adult Stars at Home takes the viewer into the private world of porn star spouses and friends. The sex is interspersed with a mini-tour of each home.

The first stop is a modern and attractive house, where Nicole Sheridan (the cover model) checkmates her husband Voodoo before also mating him the fun way. Their home appears to be very new, with an unfinished swimming pool and interior decorating still underway. Voodoo's hammock is set up for nude sunbathing at the deep end of the dry pool. Nicole demonstrates that it's an ideal place for a blowjob and 69, too. They retreat to the "goth" bedroom (complete with black mosquito netting around the bed), where they watch their vaginal sex in the mirror. The "ballet" bedroom provides the perfect setting for Nicole to display her elegant, long legs in an improvised dance. A flush of pleasure blooms across her chest in reverse cowgirl, and she releases a massive squirt onto the camera lens from a standing position. Voodoo climaxes in Nicole's vagina at a shallow depth, allowing the cum to drip out immediately when he withdraws. The couple's chatty rapport and intense eye contact make this scene a real winner.

Loving spouses Chennin Blanc and Cheyne Collins own a casual, cozy residence near the beach. The decor features ocean and celestial themes. They proudly display their souvenirs, including the ones from their trip to Seattle. Chennin and Cheyne are both very likeable—she's bubbly and cuddly, and he's friendly and earnest. They choose the couch for lovemaking. The sex is sweetly energetic, with a blow job, oral and three vaginal positions. Chennin gets a little dehydrated from the vigorous play and pauses to grab a root beer from the fridge. To reward Cheyne's patience, Chennin encourages him to cum on her belly and tits in pile driver.

Lola has already arrived for a play date at Charlie's clean and simply decorated place (which looks like a town house or condominium). Charlie first shows us her computer room, where she keeps the gifts sent by her fans. In the bedroom, Lola figures out how to operate Charlie's new vibrator. They soon abandon the vibe, however, in favor of Lola's lips on Charlie's labia. A bag of brand-new Adam & Eve toys awaits the ladies in the living room; they settle upon a flesh-colored double dildo. Charlie first teases Lola's thick clit with her tongue stud before doing her with the dong. They get down on the floor so they can each take an end, finishing with a few kisses but no obvious orgasms.

Zana's friend Billy Glide has been hanging out at her rustic stucco and cinderblock home. Zana gives the grand tour of her garage, which doubles as a repair shop. Billy hops up on a barstool for Zana's blowjob. Zana lets us peek in her "porn closet" but locks the toys back inside in favor of Billy's tongue and finger. In the living room, Zana cuts loose with her characteristic rumbling and growling vocalizations while Billy fucks her in two vaginal positions. She smiles broadly after he ejaculates onto her chest.

The behind-the-scenes featurette is a fun hodgepodge of Chennin's photo session with Alexandra Silk, footage from the interior of Chennin's fridge, Chennin putting lip gloss on her labia, Nicole taking a couple of phone calls, the cameraman cleaning the lens after Nicole's squirt, Charlie anxiously checking her door, Zana and Billy playing darts and a crew member playing a practical joke.

Thumbs up: The basic concept is excellent. The folks at Fallen Angel (working in conjunction with Adam & Eve) deserve a lot of credit for keeping things interesting with their fresh angles and themes. I've been particularly fond of the travel series Sex Across America (which looks like it might be on hold after eight volumes); Adult Stars at Home has the potential to be good, too.

I initially wasn't too sure I liked the stop-and-go sex. There are breaks in the intensity each time the couples move to a new room. But ultimately, the lovemaking has a light, playful, realistic quality that I truly appreciate.

Thumbs down: I really miss Wylder's presence in this movie. I'm sure he removed himself intentionally, to give the viewer a sense that s/he's alone with the performers in their intimate space. But Wylder's commentary in his other gonzo-style productions has always struck me as being perfect. His remarks are typically friendly and supportive yet unobtrusive, and I wish he had included them here.

I know this is impossible, but in an ideal world, I'd love to see this series done entirely with real life couples. In my opinion, the first two scenes are the hottest. The fourth scene has decent chemistry, as well, but it feels slightly odd to me (no judgment intended) when Zana mentions her husband and he's nowhere to be seen.

Condom use: Only in the last scene (Zana/Billy).

Juice-o-meter: Medium.

Final analysis: This is another respectable effort from the Adam & Eve and Fallen Angel teams. It doesn't provide an in-depth look at the way adult stars live, of course, but there are lots of fun, teasing glimpses. Viewers searching for realistic, couples friendly action with no anal sex and no group sex might especially enjoy this DVD.
