Out of the two versions available now, this is the one to pick up. The movie has been restored to it's original theatrical version and Arrow has even managed to put together some extras to go with the film. Viewers who are just interested in seeing what all the talk was about are better off renting the title first as if they are used to the films of today, they are bound to be disappointed. Right away there's an anal scene, followed shortly by a double penetration. There's also a scene where a man is penetrated by a dildo. In the original movie, there was a fisting scene and a golden shower scene, both of which have been cut from this dvd (and, unlike Arrow's DVD of "Candy Stripers" are unfortunately not hidden in an easter egg). The plot involves a futuristic society called "Alpha Blue," in which the prevailing custom is sex without commitment or attachment. Herschel Savage (early in his amazing three decades-long career) is happy with this state of affairs, but R. Bolla pines for the good old days of love and romance. Bolla decides that he will woo Satisfier 805 (Lysa Thatcher) into falling in love with him. Year: 1974 Length: 73 minutes approximately MEMORIES WITHIN MISS AGGIE from 1974 by porn director legend Gerard Damiano is a true classic, that is given a truly terrible dvd transfer. Although advertised as available from Arrow dvd by Excalibur films, this is in fact a transfer they themselves have done of the film from an old Arrow vhs of the film. The transfer is horrible and that is the only thing that keeps me from giving this film a perfect rating. This movie is one of the best porn films I've seen, and it holds it's own as a film story wise also, which is important as this one aims to be a feature. The story behind this film is that Miss Aggie is a slightly crazy middle aged woman, who imagines the ways she met her current companion and she has flashbacks imagining herself as a young woman having sex with him as a young man. The first scene is between Eric Edwards and Kim Pope and it's pretty good, they are both very innocent in this scene. It's strange to see Eric Edwards so young looking as he was in this film. The set is convincing, and many have thought it was shot in a hospital although it was really shot on a sound stage in San Francisco. The acting is reasonably good, although the plot isn't complicated: a bunch of hospital patients who are more horny than sick, and three candy stripers willing to serve any way they can, including sexually. Many have commented that the women in classic porn are not as good looking as today's crop. Although that is generally true, Amber Hunt, for example, could hold her own even in today's porn biz. Arrow has done an outstanding job restoring sound and picture, and one of the cutest things about this movie is the song that was composed and performed for it. I heard so many good things about Taxi Girls before I saw it. But, of course when I eventually saw it, well, I was less than satisfied. The premises is promising enough: hookers form a taxi company with the added bonus of sex, but when the film gets down to it, there's just too much sex. Characters and characterization is sacrificed on the alter of carnality. Promising subplots are thrown out in exchanged for excess screwing. There are a few amusing moments, but the film wastes its excellent cast, among them the always welcome Serena and the magnificent Nanci Suiter on material more suited for a perverse elementary school play. Jaacov Jaacovi isn't a bad director technically, but he just doesn't seem to know when a scene has gotten tiresome and repetitive and he must move on. [read the full review]

Although Taxi Girls has several elements going for it, the end result is less than perfect. Fans of one of the stars may want to pick up this title for that reason, but due to the coercion scene at the end of the film, which ruins the light hearted feel of the film I have trouble recommending this film to any particular group. Viewers that hate a porn with their plot, like one on one sex scenes or hate the style of earlier sex scenes will want to avoid this film. Viewers that like porn with a plot and don't have a problem with coercion might want to give this film a chance. [read the full review]
