The Movie

Liquid Lips, by release date, is the sixth film in the Johnny Wadd film series following The Danish Connection. Originally Bob Chinn had the idea to make an epic Johnny Wadd film called Like Gold, which was set in Mexico and the United States. His producers didn't like the $30,000 price tag attached to the epic film and instead agreed to let him split the film into two films which cost $25,000 each. Bob Chinn shot the two films simultaneously which became Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here and Liquid Lips. The story starts in Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here and the events in Liquid Lips follow if you are following the canon. However, Bob Chinn finished editing Liquid Lips first, so it ended up being released prior to Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here despite the fact it is the conclusion of the story arc. Liquid Lips is followed, by release date, by Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here.

In this entry in the Johnny Wadd series, Johnny Wadd (John Holmes) is hired by U.S. Treasury special agent Bill Sherman (Jerry Mills) to take a drug shipment to San Francisco as a decoy so they can find out where the drugs are going. The film has a decent plot to it, some very nice sex scenes, and uses decent locations. The end result is a fun film, but not amazing film, that entertains throughout with a nice mix of sex, story, and cheesy fight scenes. While it isn't the best film in the series, it is better than the first five entries. I think that both Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here and Liquid Lips would have been better, and feel like they had more substance, had they not been separated and had been the one film as planned.

The Edition

The presentation by Arrow of Liquid Lips is adequate. The film is presented in the full screen aspect ratio. The film appears to have been mastered from video, not film, due to some of the glitches present. The definition is low and darker images tend to blend together. As can be expected for a film of this age, dirt and blemishes are present. While the picture isn't great, the film isn't to the state of being unwatchable either. The film is presented with a 2.0 Linear PCM monaural track, which works fine for the material being presented. The only extra that Arrow has included on the disc is a photo gallery of stills from the film.

Final Thoughts

Liquid Lips is a decent entry in the Johnny Wadd series and is worth watching. The release from Arrow is adequate.
