Taxi Girls (Arrow) Review

I heard so many good things about Taxi Girls before I saw it. But, of course when I eventually saw it, well, I was less than satisfied.
The premises is promising enough: hookers form a taxi company with the added bonus of sex, but when the film gets down to it, there's just too much sex. Characters and characterization is sacrificed on the alter of carnality. Promising subplots are thrown out in exchanged for excess screwing. There are a few amusing moments, but the film wastes its excellent cast, among them the always welcome Serena and the magnificent Nanci Suiter on material more suited for a perverse elementary school play.
Jaacov Jaacovi isn't a bad director technically, but he just doesn't seem to know when a scene has gotten tiresome and repetitive and he must move on. Such is the case with his other films such as Heavenly Desire which takes a great story premises and a talented cast and wastes them on overly long and boring sex scenes.
To quote Arrow Productions own Bob Verna "There are a lot of old movies but very few classics." and frankly, this 'aint one of them...

A/V Quality:
Arrow has done an OK job mastering this DVD from some old 3/4 inch master they found. Nothing impressive though in the way of audio and video here.

CUTS:
As bad as I might find a film, I never support cutting it. Sadly though, Arrow has removed approximately four minutes from the film, including a brief, one minute fisting scene in the jail (aprox. 10 minutes in) and around two minutes from the climactic rape scene.

Extras:
None are present, which in this case is no loss. Still though, a trailer would be nice.

Who should see it:
People who like sex filled movies.

Who should skip it:
People who like good movies with clever plot and witty dialogue and/or little to no sex (or at least obligatory, pointless sex).

Overall:
Vastly over-rated film with a large emphasis on sex...Too much of an emphasis.
