Tired of police harassment and the daily grind of the life, a group of big city prostitutes led by the utterly gorgeous, aspiring comedian, Nancy Suiter, goes about moving their illicit trade off of the streets and into a taxicab company. Of course, the company takes off like wildfire, which--itself--brings about its own slew of problems. Such is the case in "Taxi Girls" (81 min, 42 sec), an exceptional, 1979 release from VCX and director Jourdan Alexander. [read the full review]

The Little Details Running Time: 73 min. Production Date: 1979 Director: Aaron Colberg Cast: Aubrey Nichols, Sharon Kane (listed here as Jennifer Walker), Laurien Dominique, Lisa K. Loring, Mimi Morgan (listed here as Michelle Moore), Susan Nero, Jeff Scott, Joey Silvera, John Holmes, Johnny Hardin, Tony Bond, and Candida Royalle in a non-sex role The Short Story Initial Expectations: Golden age porn can be very hit or miss for me, but it's going to be fun to see Sharon Kane back when she first started. Initial Reaction: It's nothing special. Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting short scenes Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a DVD where it looks like the company cares about their product The Technical Stuff Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are fairly poor. The audio is decently balanced, and I didn't really notice any background noises to interfere with the action. The video is presented in the full frame format, and showed very little effort. Taxi Girls (Arrow) review summaries:
Oddobsessionmovies'
I heard so many good things about Taxi Girls before I saw it. But, of course when I eventually saw it, well, I was less than satisfied. The premises is promising enough: hookers form a taxi company with the added bonus of sex, but when the film gets down to it, there's just too much sex. Characters and characterization is sacrificed on the alter of carnality. Promising subplots are thrown out in exchanged for excess screwing. There are a few amusing moments, but the film wastes its excellent cast, among them the always welcome Serena and the magnificent Nanci Suiter on material more suited for a perverse elementary school play. Jaacov Jaacovi isn't a bad director technically, but he just doesn't seem to know when a scene has gotten tiresome and repetitive and he must move on. [read the full review]

Although Taxi Girls has several elements going for it, the end result is less than perfect. Fans of one of the stars may want to pick up this title for that reason, but due to the coercion scene at the end of the film, which ruins the light hearted feel of the film I have trouble recommending this film to any particular group. Viewers that hate a porn with their plot, like one on one sex scenes or hate the style of earlier sex scenes will want to avoid this film. Viewers that like porn with a plot and don't have a problem with coercion might want to give this film a chance. [read the full review]
