Joy (Video-X-Pix) Review

The Complete Picture:

I love watching Golden Era porn, but it can definitely be a mixed bag of concepts and execution that should sometimes be left in the past. One thing you don't find in today's offerings, that should definitely be kept in the past, is rape being played for laughs. Unfortunately, this movie is almost entirely rape played for laughs. There are only a small number of consensual sex scenes and even within those, almost none start out that way.

The plot is this. Virgin schoolgirl, Joy (played by Sharon Mitchell), is violently raped during a home invasion. While she is being violated, she decides she likes it and is disappointed when the rapist finishes (on her bush, for those keeping score) and can't continue. This sets Joy off on a rape-spree of her own, stalking victim after victim, complete with a Jaws-esque theme, in order to scratch her newfound itch that can never be satisfied. Joy's crimes inspire copycat female rapists around the city and many dicks are sucked, unasked for.

If you find that offensive...well, it's hard to say that you are in the wrong there. Rape turning into pleasure (much too frequently portrayed in those days), and dismissing women-raping-men as victimless crimes are combined in this one, which is going to make it a mood killer for many.

And yet, there is one thing that is quite special about this movie to make it completely watchable. As most fans of mid-70's porn can surely attest, young Sharon Mitchel, is adorable and she shines throughout the entire movie. Since she is on screen the vast majority of the time, its hard to take your eyes off, so if you don't mind the concept too terribly, I would still say go ahead and watch.

The Sex:

The sex scenes are a little thin. Most of this movie is oral. Half of the scenes are blowjobs only. And like many films of that era, the scenes are quite short. Not much penetration is visible, and none with any great shots, or closeups. Once again, this aspect of the movie is also only redeemed by an adorable Sharon Mitchell, sucking a lot of dick and taking cumshots. That is most of what you are going to be seeing, from a sex standpoint, and it is quite watchable.
