Alpha Blue Archives has put together three adult movies from the shot on video era that, outside of all starring Christy Canyon, really don't belong together at all for Christy Canyon Triple Feature Four. The feel and mood of all three movies are very different and don't always mesh in the audience that is likely to enjoy them. Presented in the collection is Sinfully Yours, an average essentially all sex movie from Hal Freeman, Savage Fury, a video roughie from Mark Carriere, and Evil Angel, a hardbody feature movie from John Stagliano.
Unless one is an ardent collector of Christy Canyon, it is highly unlikely that any viewer would want all three of these movies due to how different they are. All three movies are in rather poor shape on this release with Evil Angel looking the best and Sinfully Yours looking the worst. None of the movies should be considered to be in good shape and Sinfully Yours isn't even in any sort of acceptable shape.
Christy Canyon Triple Feature Four consists of two DVDs with Savage Fury and Sinfully Yours on one disc and Evil Angel on the other. Alpha Blue Archives hasn't included any extras on the release. You can jump to the review of Evil Angel, Savage Fury, or Sinfully Yours or just keep reading to read them all.

The Movie |
Evil Angel is an early feature shot on video movie from John Stagliano, who would later go on to found the company Evil Angel. Prior to forming Evil Angel, Stagliano made a name for himself by shooting cheap shot on video productions that made good returns. Evil Angel is one of the movies Stagliano made while making a name for himself.
Stagliano is great at shooting the female form and shooting sex scenes. Even back when Evil Angel was shot you can see his eye at work. He's got some great shots in the movie and you can see why Stagliano's work became popular. He was good at making nice looking sex scenes and shots that worship the female body.
What Stagliano wasn't so good at in Evil Angel was the plot. The story presented here never ends up feeling like it was fully developed and instead the viewer is being presented with a movie in its conceptual stage. The pretense in Evil Angel is that Lisa (Erica Boyer) likes Mike (Gerald Elliot), her next door neighbor. Her father (Brockton O'Toole), whom she lives with, catches her masturbating and has had it with her gallivanting around. Lisa ends up applying for a job as a model for erotic photographer Blake (Harry Reems). The resulting movie feels like the viewer really is only getting half a story and there should have been more to round out the various plot arcs that feel abandoned at the end of the movie.
The music used in the movie is an odd collection of 80s sounding synthesizer, some easy listening, and even some harpsichord mixed in. The music is an odd enough combination that it does draw attention to itself. Evil Angel is also a very dated mid-80s movie and not just because of the clothing which is worn in the movie. Evil Angel plays heavily off of the hardbody and weight lifting craze from the early 80s giving the movie a very dated feel that newer viewers may not get into.
Overall, Stagliano has done a nice job with the sex scenes but really failed when it came to the plotted portions of the movie. The result is an incomplete feeling movie. Stagliano has made far better movies, where the plot is complete and looks just as good, if not better than in Evil Angel. This reviewer would recommend one of those movies instead of Evil Angel.

Alpha Blue Archives has done an acceptable job with their release of Evil Angel. Evil Angel was shot on video and Alpha Blue Archives seems to have utilized a decent VHS master for this release but not the video masters for the movie. Evil Angel is presented in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 480i. The video presentation contains glitches and some haloing but has good color representation. Evil Angel is watchable but not wonderful.
Evil Angel is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio track. The audio has a low flat sound that, honestly, sounds like a monaural track pushed to two speakers. There is a hiss present throughout the entire movie. The dialog is the movie is clear and can be heard at all times.

Savage Fury |

Movie Specs:
Genres: Classic, Feature Film, Roughie
Run Time: 87 minutes Rated: XXX Release Year: 1985 Director: Mark Carriere (as Mark Curtis) Written by: Mark Carriere (written by), Tina Marie (written by and screenplay) Cast: Christy Canyon, Craig Roberts, April Maye, Bunny Bleu, Josephine Carrington, Beverly Bliss, David Sanders, Rick Savage, Peter North, Tony Martino (as Tony Martin)
Release Specs:
Audio: English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono

The Movie |
Savage Fury is a rarity in the world of adult cinema, it is a shot on video roughie produced between the brief period after shooting on film ended and the prosecution of Russ Hampshire and the Cambria List. Savage Fury has a lot going for it, however, the biggest issue — which is also the issue that ruins the movie — is that it appears the script never left the conceptual stage before it was shot.
In Savage Fury, Sandra Davis (Christy Canyon) rejects Clint's (Rick Savage) advances toward her. He swears he will fuck her and gets together a group of friends. Later that night, he and his friends break into her dorm room at Central State University and rape Sandra and her friends. A year later, Sondra (Beverly Bliss) runs into Clint in a bar and, along with Sandra and her other friends that were raped, put together a plan to get revenge on Clint and his friends.
The director, Mark Carriere, has done a great job of creating a thriller atmosphere in the movie with appropriately atmospheric music. The rape scenes are dark and seedy. Rick Savage and his buddies — played by David Sanders, Tony Martino, Craig Roberts, and Peter North — do a good job coming across as creepy. The movie is nicely shot by Carriere as well. The gore effects in the movie are well done as well.
With all of this going for the movie, how could it go bad? The story. Or the giant lack thereof within the movie. The movie runs for almost 90 minutes, yet the first half is the rape sequence and the second half is Sandra and her friends Tammy (April Maye), Lenore (Bunny Bleu), Lanie (Josephine Carrington), and Sondra seducing the rapists for their revenge. The actual time spent on the plot could be counted in minutes on one hand.
For a roughie like this, the lack of plot kills the movie. Unless the viewer is turned on by rape sequences, a plot is a necessity for a roughie. Something to put the scenes in context and create an actual movie for the viewer. To this reviewer, Savage Fury feels like the original concept before the screenplay was to be written, not the final product.
Overall, while Savage Fury has a lot going for it, the movie is still hard to recommend. The movie ultimately ends up being a roughie without the plot to contextualize the violence. If one enjoys non-consensual scenes just because they are non-consensual, this may be the movie for them. For everyone else, ultimately they will feel disappointed at the end.

Alpha Blue Archives has done a poor job with their DVD release of Savage Fury. Savage Fury was shot on video and to this reviewer, it appears as if Alpha Blue Archives has utilized a beat up VHS for the master for their release. Savage Fury is presented in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 480i. The image suffers from numerous glitches in the video throughout the movie, some that are very significant in nature. There are periods of complete drop out of the image during the movie. The image appears to be very low definition and colors are poorly rendered. The video quality on this release is, frankly, unacceptable.
Savage Fury is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural audio track. Like with the video, the audio for the release is heavily flawed. There is a hiss present throughout the movie. There are also periods of damage to the audio. The dialog is usually clear and easy to understand. Like the video, the audio quality on this release is unacceptable.

Sinfully Yours |

Movie Specs:
Genres: Classic, Feature Film, Incest
Run Time: 84 minutes Rated: XXX Release Year: 1985 Director: Hal Freeman Written by: Ted Newsom Cast: Stevie Taylor, Eric Edwards, Christy Canyon, Tony Martino (as Chuck Martin), Pamela Jennings (as Pam Jennings), Marc Wallice
Release Specs:
Audio: English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono
Subtitles: none Video: Full Frame, 1.33:1 |
The Movie |
Sinfully Yours is one of the adult movies made during the transition from film to video and, sadly, ends up being one of the movies shot on video. The director, Hal Freeman, has shot on film titles in his filmography, however, sadly Sinfully Yours succumbs to some of the problems that plagued the adult industry during the shot on video period.
Sinfully Yours represents itself to be a plotted movie, however, for all intensive purposes, it is an all sex movie. The movie is one of those where people reflect on sex they had in the past premise that became way too overly prolific during the shot on video age.
For Sinfully Yours, the set-up is that Mark Robinson (Eric Edwards) and Paula (Stevie Taylor) are moving from their house of three years. While the movers empty the house, the two reminisce about all the sex that has happened over the least three years in their house.
Sinfully Yours has a good cast, with carryovers from the shot on film era prior including cast members that have a proven ability to act — such as Eric Edwards. However, acting talent has been completely wasted in this title since there is no material for them to use. Not even enough to really give any dimensions to any of the characters involved.
The sex scenes look nice. The cast does a good job with them and Freeman, who is a five-year veteran at this point in the adult industry, knows how to capture the sexual action well. However, the sex scenes are marred by the lack of character development in the movie. One of the scenes, for instance, has incest themes to it, but since the characters are introduced just for each sex scene, in essence, it is just like all other others in the movie.
The movie has been shot well which isn't surprising since it was shot by Richard Pepin, using his adult pseudonym Richard Christopher. However, the movie comes across looking cheap since almost all of the locations are located at the one house, or at least they appear to be.
Even though Sinfully Yours looks good, the end product resembles so many other adult movies that were shot on video and came out in the 80s. Fans of one, or more, of the stars may want to add this movie to their collection due to the star. However, fans of the genre or casual fans of the industry will be best off giving Sinfully Yours a pass.

Alpha Blue Archives has done a poor job with their release of Sinfully Yours. Sinfully Yours was shot on video and a video source was used to master the DVD release. Sinfully Yours is presented on the Alpha Blue Archives release in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 480i. The video source used to master this release appears to have been a VHS tape that was never properly color calibrated. The picture is rather horrible with glitches in the video and low definition in the video. The colors are often massively over saturated making the cast's skin an unhealthy looking shade of red. There is a scene with a red shower and another with pink satin sheets. The red overtakes the screen essentially making the picture unwatchable unless the viewer is wearing sunglasses. The image quality presented here is unacceptable and in places, frankly, unwatchable.
Sinfully Yours is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural sounding Stereo track. There is hiss present throughout the entire presentation. The dialog in the movie is clear and can be heard at all times throughout the movie. The hiss can be distracting but doesn't ruin the experience.

Final Thoughts |
Alpha Blue Archives' Christy Canyon Triple Feature Four brings together three mid-80s shot on video movies that are only related by the fact that Christy Canyon stars in all three of them. The three movies contained on the release are John Stagliano's Evil Angel, a hardbody feature, Hal Freeman's Sinfully Yours, an essentially all sex movie, and Mark Carriere's Savage Fury, a video roughie. Sinfully Yours is the best of the movies on the release with both Evil Angel and Savage Fury feeling like they were rushed productions. Overall, this is a rather disappointing collection of Christy Canyon movies. Alpha Blue Archives has done a poor job with their release of Christy Canyon Triple Feature Four utilizing some rather abysmal transfers.
