Running Time: 101 min.

Production Date: 8/06/99

Director: Nick Orleans

Cast: Jill Kelly, Alexandra Silk, Tina Tyler, Taylor St. Claire, Vivian Valentine, Salena Del Ray, Chennin Blanc, Ginger Paige, Billy Glide, Ian Daniels, Alec Metro, Evan Stone, Jack Hammer, Dave Hardman, Herschel Savage, and Cheyenne Collins

Extras: Photo Gallery, Trailers, and bios of Jill, Salena, and Taylor. It's nothing you haven't seen on any other Adam & Eve DVD.

Audio Quality: A little under average. Most of the dialogue is clear, but there's a lot of bad dubbing in the sex scenes.

Video Quality: Very good.

Music: The music is well balanced through most of the movie, however it is slightly overpowering in a few spots.

Initial Expectations: An average release. The movie looks like it could be interesting, but Adam & Eve haven't been putting much into their releases beyond a great transfer.

Initial Reaction: About what I expected. The movie was very good with a great transfer, but that's about all that's worthwhile on the DVD.

Review: 'Blue Matrix' starts out pretty good with Salena arriving home from work and calling to let her husband know she's home. When he doesn't answer, she relaxes on the couch and starts to warm herself up for when her hubby appears. Billy arrives home while she's taking matters into her own hands, and they both make full use of the red leather couch. There's some good chemistry between Salena and Billy and it really starts the movie off well. After Billy unloads on Salena, she mysteriously disappears. Billy doesn't know what to do, so he calls Research Associates.

Research Associates has two investigators (Chennin and Cheyenne) trying to figure out why people are disappearing during sex. The think that the people are going to a place they call the blue matrix. They both talk to the people left behind and also do their own experiments, which we soon see between Jack and Ginger. The scene is okay, but nothing really special. Ginger does an okay job, but Jack holds the scene back for me. Jack does an average at best job with the sex, but his tattoos don't do anything for me. I have nothing against tattoos, but if Jack would have went with company logos instead, he could easily double as a stock car. Unfortunately, nobody disappears into the blue matrix at the end of the scene. It's not a surprise, it's just unfortunate since I'd kind of like at least Jack to disappear.

Finally, we get a better view of the blue matrix. It's pretty much a room with a bunch of white sheets on the floor and walls. There's lights behind the sheets that provide illumination. It gives everything a slightly surreal feel, but at first it also gives it kind of a cheesy feel. We catch up to Salena who meets her friend Taylor. They start to explore the blue matrix and stumble upon Alexandra and Ian. They can't believe that Alexandra and Ian are going to fuck in front of them, but they don't make any effort to leave. During the scene, Jill Kelly walks through and gives the girls a blue strap - on before she goes to get a closer look at Ian and Alexandra. Jill never really joins in, but she does get close enough where they can both touch her. It adds some nice tension to the sex. As usual, Alexandra does a great scene and takes it up the ass like a champ.

We return to the world that we know, or at least wish we knew as normally in our world people around us don't start fucking every ten to fifteen minutes. Chennin and Cheyenne explain that the blue matrix is an alternate universe. They have enlisted Tina, Herschel, and Evan to try and break through to the new universe. The men are instructed to do exactly what Tina says. Yes, another sign of a fantasy world. In the real world you'd KNOW to do exactly what Tina says. Either that or Herschel and Evan are more than a little slow. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. This scene was the biggest disappointment in the movie. I readily admit to being a fan of Tina's (while watching I normally become a bigger fan, but who doesn't). Tina blows and jerks off the guys until Evan disappears. Even though I was disappointed, the scene is well done. My disappointment is completely due to the limits of the scene.

Evan's disappearance was exactly what Chennin and Cheyenne needed scientifically. They determine that to enter the blue matrix one needs a hypersexual experience (go figure! and in a porn movie no less!). They explain this to Vivian Valentine, who appears to be their boss. Vivian wants to go to the blue matrix, but can never get to an extremely orgasmic state when she's with another person. Chennin suggests a couple things to her, but she feels it's best if she tries it on her own. Vivian proceeds to masturbate on a couch both manually (or would that be womanly?) and with a toy. After a while she can't resist the urge for a cock. Luckily, Dave Hardman is watching her with Chennin and Cheyenne, who continue to monitor things. I thought that this was one of the hottest scenes in the movie. It has everything from masturbation to a variety of straight positions to anal. Vivian is clearly enjoying herself throughout the scene, and is one of the hottest looking women in the movie. Unfortunately, Dave gets taken to the blue matrix and she gets left behind. It was kind of surprising that she was left, but it was no surprise that Dave disappeared with the energy Vivian was putting into the scene.

We return to the blue matrix to see that Taylor and Salena finally figured out how to work the strap on that Jill gave them. Both Taylor and Salena bring a lot of energy to the scene, which makes it a lot more enjoyable than many lesbian scenes. For those who don't like toys, you might not enjoy the first half of the scene. The second half goes more natural, giving the scene a nice combination with one style not overshadowing the other.

Dave's disappearance after Vivian's scene gave Chennin and Cheyenne all the confirmation they needed. Finally we get to watch them in action. The excellent job they've done playing the investigators did a great job leading up to this scene. They reminded me a lot more of Mulder and Scully in the X-Files than of characters in the Matrix, which 'Blue Matrix' rips off slightly. This is my other favorite scene in the movie. Chennin and Cheyenne are both extremely attractive and have great chemistry together. Needless to say, the scene is quite hot and both of them disappear at the end of it.

We return to the blue matrix one last time. Jill Kelly explains how she found the blue matrix and why she and it are there. 'Blue Matrix' decides to go out with a bang. Actually a double bang between Jill, Alec, and Evan. Surprisingly, there's not a double penetration here, but it's still a hot scene. Although sometimes I think that Jill is slightly overrated, Jill really looks very good in a slightly Victorian style corset with her hair done to match the style. She also puts a lot of energy into the scene. This would have been a lot better scene if it weren't for the audio. The dubbing was horrible throughout most of the scene.

Nick Orleans does a great job with the directing in the movie. In addition to a good story with a great cast, the camera work is excellent. The camera angles give it a mysterious feel while also making it not seem like your typical scenes. He also uses a lot of shadows that add to the sex, rather than make you feel like somebody didn't know what they were doing. Credit should also go to Adam & Eve for the great transfer they gave to 'Blue Matrix'. Without the transfer, the shadows would have overpowered some of the scenes and you would have ended up feeling cheated, rather than turned on.

Throughout the movie I was wishing that Adam & Eve would have put a commentary from the director on the disc. Even a short interview would have been nice. In addition to adding to the depth of the DVD, it would have helped it earn it's Premium Collection label. The photo gallery, trailers, and three bios just didn't do anything to make this seem like a top of the line release.

Although the transfer was very good throughout the movie, the audio did suffer in spots. The music overpowered a lot of Salena's dialogue in the opening scene. Throughout the movie there was some spotty bad dubbing. Most of all, the final scene with Jill Kelly was horribly dubbed. At one point I wasn't even sure if it was from the right movie. I expect this watching one of Vivid's multiple angles, but this is the first time I've ever noticed it this bad in an Adam & Eve release.

Raincoat Factor: Medium

Overall: 'Blue Matrix' is an above average slightly science fiction adult film. The above average story is about two people investigating disappearances during sex and the cast does a great job with it. The direction is also excellent. The video is very clear but there are some audio problems. The extras are nothing that you haven't seen before. There's a lot of anal in 'Blue Matrix', so if you aren't into anal, you might not like it.

Themes: straight, lesbian, group, toys, anal, rimming, corsets, and masturbation
