The Movie

Ball Game is a corny and clichéd but very enjoyable adult film. Ball Game is more like an adult take on The Longest Yard in its design than it is an adult take on Squeeze Play. Despite the name, Ball Game is a jailhouse tale that has a competitive baseball game for the finale instead of being a film about a baseball team. Therefore, viewers who go into this adult film expecting a sports themed adult film will be disappointed. Especially since the ball game itself has a very small portion of time devoted to it, despite the erotic potential.

Prostitute Lolita Wanamaker (Candida Royalle) gets arrested and sent to county jail. There she finds the conditions to be poor and makes a demand to Warden Blowhard (Ian MacGregor), under jail rules, for better conditions. Warden Blowhard, who is running for governor, admits to Lolita that he has spent the budget to refurbish the jail on his election campaign. He makes a deal with her, if the inmates will participate in an inmate versus guard baseball game, he will use the profits to refurbish the jail and if her team, The Beavers, win they will all get work furloughs. If his team, The Dicks, win, Lolita will have to cater to the warden's every whim. To ensure that The Beavers win, the inmates seduce the guards to tire them out before the big game.

The sex in the film is enjoyable and there is a lot of it. As the film is set in the county jail, the sex is jailhouse sex and a combination of girl on girl scenes and girl with boy scenes. Despite the limited setting, the sex scenes are varied and all look and feel different. The cast does a great job with the sex scenes, as well as with the non-sex portions of the film. The sets are well done as well and obviously some work went into creating the jail, which helps the viewer get into the film.

Ball Game is a fun and enjoyable adult film, just don't go into it expecting a sports themed adult film. The cast does a great job, the sex is enjoyable, and the plot works well. This is a film that fans of the genre should check out.

The Edition

Caballero has done a poor job with their release of Ball Game. Ball Game is presented in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 480i. The film appears to have been mastered from a video source instead of an actual film print. The film contains print damage, artifacts, and jumps. The end of the film has an incredibly jumpy image. The color representation isn't bad. Overall, the film is watchable but the quality of the master is disappointing.

Ball Game is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural audio track. Dialog is clear and can be understood at all times. The audio track does contain pops and crackles throughout but none of them harm the audio presentation.

Caballero has only included one extra on the release; there is a photo gallery.

Final Thoughts

Ball Game is a cheesy, corny, and fun adult film. The film entertains the viewer throughout and has some great sex scenes. However, the title is misleading and the film is more of a jailhouse story than a baseball story, so viewers looking for a sports themed adult film will be disappointed. Caballero has done a poor job with this release with a lack of extras and a poor transfer.
