Review brief: Castings 4 Bettina - A Star Is Born Private Directed by Pierre Woodman Starring: Bettina, Anita Gyongy, Laura Kat Woman, Rebecca Lord, Sweet Lana, Simone Running time: 2hrs The big feature of this edition of Woodman's casting series is the initiation of Bettina, but there are several other interesting young women ready to try their hand at a career in porn. The early steps in their careers are demonstrated by casting interviews, glimpses from the sets of photo shoots, and the occasional excerpt from Private's features. Rebecca Lord A great way to begin this volume, the first interviewee is French brunette Rebecca, who of course more than made her name on both sides of the Atlantic. Announcing herself as a 20-year-old actress, Rebecca looks really beautiful here, even during the roughly shot casting footage, what with her wonderful smile, pale skin contrasting with dark hair and red lips, and big eyes that grow wider as Pierre asks his rude questions.

This one happens to be under the Hustler XXX banner, though quite what the difference between this and Superfuckers is, I am not sure. THE SCIENCE OF SLUTS TCHANKA & REBECCA Covergirl Rebecca (a real beauty, from sparkling eyes, to full, sensuous lips to wonderful boobs) and Tchanka (also sexy, with striking looks of perhaps a mixed European and Asian heritage) are subjected to typical Pierre Woodman banter and groping, fingering pussies and assholes as he reaches out from behind the camera.

Review brief: CASTINGS 3 Private Directed by Pierre Woodman Starring: Nikky Andersson, Vally Verdi, Lolita, Valeria, Betty, Diana, Pierre Woodman and others This is one of the big ones in the Castings series, featuring the alleged onscreen deflowering of a virginal Hungarian beauty many porn fans have come to know and love as a star called Nikki Anderson. But that's not all - there's another insight into how Woodman recruits his talent, though this is obviously the "official" version and far from the whole story, and besides there are more girls to delight you in this collection of crudely shot casting interview sessions (of pretty much amateur quality) backed up with on-set photo shoot footage and occasional all-out hardcore scenes. Vally Verdi In an interview as unremarkable as her looks, pleasant French girl Vally is perfectly happy to show off her outstanding tits.

Not content with continuing the Superfuckers series, he's helming the Hustler XXX line and, naturally, releasing the glossy features from glamorous locations that he's renowned for. As if that wasn't enough of a strain on the Woodman fan's wallet, here's yet another series - Anal Intensive. From the crass cover blurb, we can presume that the modus operandi of this line will be to go straight to the a-hole. So does this mean a new direction for Woodman, new styles or innovative action? What do you reckon? Barbara Blonde, tanned and very pretty, Barbara is a keen subject for Woodman's anal exam.

Review brief: CASTINGS 2 Private Directed by Pierre Woodman Starring: Karina, Aliza, Kirsten, Barbara Doll, Veronica Bella, Pierre Woodman and others The welcome conversion of Woodman's ever-intriguing Castings series to DVD continues apace with this second edition providing the historical perspective on more wannabe porn stars who placed themselves in front of Pierre's probing lens. Some of course, made it. Others, perhaps repelled by the ruthless Frenchman's intrusive questioning, merely flash their bodies for the camera in a fleeting dalliance with stardom and then return, one might say wisely, to the real world. This series features a mixture of roughly-shot castings footage, hardcore scenes and Woodman's infamous initiations - I have said it before and will doubtless say it again, the quality is not all it should be, so be aware of that. Anyway, let's meet the girls Barbara Doll Subsequently quite a star, Barbara appears here as a smiling 22-year-old secretary, eager to make it into the business.

Review brief: Superfuckers 8: Seducing Session (Private) Directed by Pierre Woodman Starring: Adrienne Klass, Erika Fire, Denisa, Gabrielle, Noemie, Yasmine, Monika, Francesca, Alain Deloin, David Perry, James Brossman, Leslie Taylor, Pascal St James, Pierre Woodman, Rodolf, Sebastian Barrio, Titof With a hefty run time of 3 hours or so, Superfuckers always appears like good value for money. But beware, appearances can be deceptive. Though he occasionally treats us with memorable moments, all too often director Pierre Woodman seems to pad out the volumes of this series with less interesting material. Consequently, the quality is extremely variable. This edition is introduced by elegant, dark-haired beauty Yasmine (a Hustler centrefold earlier this year), who Woodman has worked with on other occasions, but her intros are overdubbed with the profoundly irritating narration that Private erroneously seems to consider an enhancement.

Review brief: Superfuckers 7 (Private) Directed by Pierre Woodman Starring: Ann Kiray, Babylou, Dita, Sunny Blue, Gaby Black, Sandra, Monica, Vivienne, Pierre Woodman, Pascal St. Clair, James Brossman, Bob Terminator, Sebastian Barrio Vivienne, a strongly featured brunette, introduces six unconnected sex scenes in this decent outing, by my reckoning, in Woodman's often hit-or-miss vignette series. Babylou First up, a quick-fire casting session with Babylou, an utterly cute petite girl with sandy blonde hair and a superb lightly tanned figure. Woodman fingers her, has her rub her own clit and she looks all dreamy as she does it. Naturally Woodman, who mans the cameras and does the knobbing too, is keen to get his dick inside this tiny, tight pussy. He fucks her soundly and it looks great. Review brief: CASTINGS X 1 (Private) Directed by Pierre Woodman Starring: Julia Channel, Blondie, Angela, Alona, Mame Yong, Agnes, and Inna, with Pierre Woodman and various studs At long last Private have got Woodman's Casting X series on to the digital format. For those unfamiliar with the Castings style, director Pierre Woodman seeks out talent in Eastern Europe and further afield, where he conducts casting interviews in which he asks probing questions of his nervous wannabes and offers the reward of travel and money - if they'll get their kit off. Some of them go on to make movies for Private, with clips from some of their work included here, some merely do photo shoots for Private magazines - again, the action is captured on tape, and pictures are supplied too. Just how genuine it all is I shall let you decide, but usually the girls appear somewhat reluctant and need varying degrees of persuasion to bare all for Woodman's probing lens.
