Review brief: Eon McKai's "Neu Wave Hookers" is one of those porno movies that take the medium to a whole other level. While considered a "feature", it is really more of an experimental piece (with sex)that takes some risks (such as no on-screen sex for the first twenty or so minutes), but works brilliantly due to the perfect combination of style, campiness, and scorching sex. This is also a movie that I recommend seeing twice; the first time you see it you'll be too confused; the second time it will all come together (it did for me at least). The plot (or which parts of it are coherent, at least) deals with Riley Mason and Joanna Angel as "working girls", who pick up an old VHS copy of "New Wave Hookers" from a yard sale. They watch it with their girlfriends (Tiger, Justine Joli, and Felix Vicious) and are intrigued by it, to the extent where they break into VCA headquarters (don't expect any legitimate shots of the real HQ's however)and find out about the "Dark Report", where Gregory Dark claims to have discovered Traci Lords at a car wash. Their discovery conldues with a lesbian orgy.

Review brief: This is my first review in quite some time and my first review of a movie this new. My tendencies in reviewing porn are usually classics and features, but I have lately been getting into the alt.porn phenomenon that seems to be dominating VCA currently. I saw Joanna Angels' "Joanna's Angels" and then I checked out this movie, also featuring Joanna, directed by L.A. art school graduate Eon McKai, who made his directorial debut last year with "Art School Sluts", which I have yet to see, but is supposedly very good. McKai's "Neu Wave Hookers" is set for release on January 17'th, so I thought I'd check this movie out first as a little preview into his work. What I found was very, very promising. VCA has made some great classic porn films (many of them, sadly, very butchered on DVD). But then in the mid 90's, Jim Holliday started directing for them, and the overall body of work from the company went into decline (maybe their all-condom policy helped).

Review brief: Alex deRenzy's "Pretty Peaches 2" is a lighthearted, fun sex epic that doesn't try to be anything more and therefore suceeds. The story, which never takes itself seriously, involves a girl named Peaches (Siobhan Hunter), desperate to learn about sex. She is interrupted by her mother (Tracey Adams) during her rendezvous with her boyfriend Bobby (Peter North). Bobby hides in mom's room and is found peeking at her. So what does she do? Fuck him, of course. Meanwhile, Peaches is growing more frustrated. She goes to visit her dad (Herschel Savage), who warns her not to be a tease. She then decides to go visit her uncle (Ron Jeremy), a crazy Vietnam vet. On the road, she is picked up by Buck Adams and gets a room with him, watching him fuck Jeanette Littledove (who was once Buck's real-life wife). At the same time, Tracey and Herschel get together to find Peaches. It turns out that they're divorced, but they reconcile (not until after a session from F.M. Bradley, though, however).

Review brief: The Dark Brothers' "New Wave Hookers" was an original (before the numerous sequels), hot, hilarious movie upon its release in 1985 and some, but not all of those elements hold up today. The story involves two slackers, Jimmy (Jamie Gillis) and Jamal (Jack Baker), who spend their time drinking beer and watching porn videos. As the movie begins, Jimmy tells Jamal they should become pimps and open an escort service, New Wave Hookers, where the girls would fuck to new wave music. They soon fall asleep, where they are transported into another world: They now run New Wave Hookers Incorporated and have a "dog" (Steve Powers), who telepathically receives phone calls. Their first girl is Candy (Desiree Lane), who skates into their office. Jimmy and the "dog" try her out, while Jimmy watches and masturbates (Jack Baker was actually a legitimate actor, playing Sticks on "Happy Days", and his sexual acts are limited to self-gratification and oral sex). Next Brooke Fields and Kimberly Carson visit a barely recognizable Peter North, who lives in a tent.

Review brief: John Leslie's "Curse of the Catwoman" is one of the most sylish porno movies I have ever seen. While honestly I think there are better John Leslie movies when it comes to storyline and, quite frankly, the sex, "Curse" is a perfect movie for anybody looking for a moody, style film. Anybody familiar with John Leslie's work will know this is a sequel (although rather different) to Leslie's 1988 classic "The Catwoman". In this film, a group of cat people hang out at a club, hunting for sexual prey. As the movie begins, Ashley Nicole is getting a stand-up fuck from T.T. Boy while Rocco Siffredi and Raven watch. Raven goes over to join the two, when club owner Jamie Gillis interrupts and tells her to get out. On their way out of the club together, Gillis and Nicole are attacked during a rendezvous by Raven, who gives herself to Jamie and provides Ashley with a "bigger dick". The sets and lighting are fantastic in these scenes and really help to motivate the sex.

Review brief: John Leslie's "The Chameleon", which many, including this reviewer, consider his masterpiece, begins with a soothing blues ditty by Bill Reid as the credits go up. We then open with a woman named Diana (Tori Welles) talking to her psychiatrist (Richard Pacheco). It appears that she has sexual problems, although they're not what you would probably imagine. It turns out that Diana's a "chameleon". If you don't know what I mean, just read ahead and you soon will. We then cut into a sizzling sex scene with a woman (April West) taking on two guys (Scott Irish, Axel Horn). After they are finished, the woman goes to the bathroom, where she turns into Diana! She has the ability to change her identities, which she takes to her full advantage. This is much to the chagrin of her boyfriend Marc (Tom Byron), for whom sex is a much more meaningful experience.

Review brief: "Nightshift Nurses", the directorial debut of perhaps the best actor to ever work in adult, John Leslie, not only is a scorcher when it comes to the sex, but also makes great use of comedy, blues music, and filmmaking styles that Leslie would later use in the "Chameleon" and "Catwoman" movies. The film takes place during one night in a hospital. Lois Ayres plays the senior nurse who heads the other nurses, played by Bionca, Keisha, Sheena Horne, and Lynn Francis. John Leslie plays Dr. Grow, an insomniac who hates his job and would really like to be a professional harmonica player. Joey Silvera is an everyman who goes by the name of Idaho Moe and in his spare time pretends that he's a doctor. Peter North, Josey Duval, and D.J. Cone play various patients and Siobhan Hunter is a "sister" who is waiting for her brother to come out of surgery. One more character worth mentioning would be the black janitor, played by Steve Hennessy. While mopping a hallway, he overhears moans and goes into the room to investigate.
