Eon McKai's "Neu Wave Hookers" is one of those porno movies that take the medium to a whole other level. While considered a "feature", it is really more of an experimental piece (with sex)that takes some risks (such as no on-screen sex for the first twenty or so minutes), but works brilliantly due to the perfect combination of style, campiness, and scorching sex. This is also a movie that I recommend seeing twice; the first time you see it you'll be too confused; the second time it will all come together (it did for me at least).

The plot (or which parts of it are coherent, at least) deals with Riley Mason and Joanna Angel as "working girls", who pick up an old VHS copy of "New Wave Hookers" from a yard sale. They watch it with their girlfriends (Tiger, Justine Joli, and Felix Vicious) and are intrigued by it, to the extent where they break into VCA headquarters (don't expect any legitimate shots of the real HQ's however)and find out about the "Dark Report", where Gregory Dark claims to have discovered Traci Lords at a car wash. Their discovery conldues with a lesbian orgy.

While not big on plot, McKai is very big on style. The opening title sequence mimics the original in terms of mood and atmosphere; the music, as did in the original, plays a huge part in creating this atmosphere. The music is not your average porn fare; McKai plugged various bands (as Gregory Dark did with the Plugz and the Sparks in the OG NWH) to do the music and the result is tremendously effective.

The film never takes itself seriously (which is a good thing, considering the light subject matter). The first 20-minutes of the movie deals with a creepy john played by the creepy Dirty Harry. He is so good at playing this part, it's scary. His first encounter is with Riley, who gives him the "I need to go to the bathroom" excuse, as does Joanna, while Tiger gives him a "sympathy hump" (which is strangely erotic).

The first actual sex scene (apparently) plays out as fantasy. Joanna has a crush on stripper Kurt Lockwood (while a voiceover states he's into Asian chicks). Next thing you know, they're on stage together, playing out a surprisingly nicely done romantic scene. While the sex is hardcore, there are a fairly larger number of facial reaction shots in this scene than in the others, which gives it a nice feel.

The second scene takes place on a swing set between Riley Mason and James Deen, in which he rubs his cock on the side of the swing after he cums. Overall, a creative set-up for a sex scene.

Next we get some MTV-style singing from James and Tommy Pistol, who prepare to DP Sierra Sinn. Veronica Hart makes an amusing cameo in this scene.

The fourth scene (and the only one hinted at in any of the previews for this movie) is a blowjob scene between Internet sensation Dana DeArmond (playing Traci Lords) and Tommy Pistol (playing Gregory Dark). The scene starts out with Gregory finding Traci at a carwash, and then we get some VHI pop-up videoesque information about the real Traci Lords as we watch Dana suck on a popsicle, before seeing the real thing between Dana and Tommy. While only a blowjob scene, it is immensely hot to watch and is one of the highlights of the film.

The fifth scene (going back to Kurt's being into Asian chicks) is a threesome between Kurt Lockwood, Nyomi Zen, and Riley. Nyomi gives Kurt a fair amount of assplay (which may or may not be your cup of tea)while the girls take turns in various positions. Pretty hot, even if you're not into seeing male assplay on camera.

The last scene (and the best in my opinion) is the forementioned lesbian orgy between Joanna Angel, Riley Mason, Tiger, Justine Joli, and Felix Vicious. It lasts for almost the last half hour of the movie, but I could've watched it for a half hour more. The hottest moments in this orgy involve Tiger, wearing a strap-on and Joanna (just being Joanna). Sadly, Tiger doesn't have any b/g scenes in the movie (with the exception of the softcore "sympathy hump"), as don't Justine or Felix.

The extras included in the disc are also a great addition to the collection. Disc 1 includes a commentary with Eon McKai, producer Malachi Ecks, Dana DeArmond, Tiger, and various crew people. We also get to hear cell phone conversations with Joanna, Tommy Pistol, and various other crew people. Overall, one big party with a lot of funny moments.

The bulk of the extras are on Disc 2. There are photo galleries for all of the girls in the movie, as well as a sex gallery, in addition to trailers for Eon McKai's other movies (Art School Sluts and Kill Girl Kill 1-3). There are two outtakes from the Kurt-Nyomi-Riley scene that are quite funny, as well as a "behind the scenes" and a "making of", that are amsuing, as well as informative. There is also a brief Internet promo.

The original New Wave Hookers (sans the Traci scene, of course) is on Disc 3, although it's the same disc already available from VCA.

The packaging is first-rate, as are the menus. Video and audio quality are first-rate (as is the camerawork by Jane Waters).

Overall, a must-see for anybody interested in adult cinema, although I highly recommend that you give the movie a second chance if you don't "get it" the first time.
