Tricked by lust and libation into accompanying a cute-but-crafty space princess (Robin Cannes) to a far away world from which no one returns, an adventurer (Paul Thomas) and his navigator (Richard Pacheco) find themselves in the clutches of a golden-hued, evil overlord of nigh infinite power. Such is the case in "Sex Wars", a very good, mid-80s sci-fi takeoff from Excalibur and Bob Vosse. Indeed, Princess LayMe (Cannes) uses her feminine wiles, ample supply of alcohol, and the offer of a spacecraft to manipulate the two happy-go-lucky guys into aiding her on her quest to find her missing sister (Laurie Smith). Featuring a fun plot, strong acting, a solid cast, and plenty of hot sex, this release truly delivers on its campy, carnal premise. While it does bear some resemblance to the Star Wars franchise, with its obvious titling, box cover art, aptly-named female lead, and cantina sequences, its plot is squarely its own...and it's good. For fans of sci-fi porn, the underrated beauty that was Robin Cannes, PT, and cleverly classic nostalgic nookie, this one's worth taking a look at.
In terms of the sex, the space cowboy, Paul Thomas, gets it on with the lovely, blonde off-world prostitute, Gail Sterling, in her chambers (Scene One). Before long, his space suit hits the floor, and a full-on, oral and vaginal fucking follows. In Scene Two, the "golden girl" dancer, D.J. Cum showers abound in capping off this sexy sequence. (Following this, the camera shifts back to the cantina for a massive party that includes plenty of dancing, some stripping, and a bit of sex.)
Bonus-wise, there's a trailer for the 1976 release, "Deadly Love", on this version of the film, as well. This out-of-print production is unique in that it features the first appearance of a Playboy Playmate (prior to becoming a Playmate, in fact), Susan Kiger, in a hardcore film. Of special note is that Susan's dance / external masturbation with a live snake is featured prominently in the preview.
In all, this mid-80s release is a lot of fun and will certainly appeal to both fans of classic carnality and sci-fi. While it's certainly campy, the sex still remains hot, and its cheese factor ends up being one of its bigger selling points...that and the lovely and lustful female cast. For the correct audience, this one's worthy.
