Hot Dreams Review

Warren Evans writes, produces and directs HOT DREAMS (1983, Caballero Home Video) with Sharon Mitchell as Lisa Curtis, a married photographer, who finds herself having uncontrollably vivid sexual fantasies in this terrific 84 minute flick. Michael Bruce players her hubby Bob, who, with an assist from Renee played by the lovely Tiffany Clark, brings Lisa back to reality by taking her out on the harbor to suck and fuck on the stern of a boat with the lovely sun-lit Manhattan sky line as their back drop. Standard frame.

The first half of HOT DREAMS follows Lisa through a series of her fantasies beginning with an early morning encounter that's triggered when Bob too quickly wraps up their lovemaking session in the bedroom. She follows him into the bathroom where she imagines her shaving hubby taking her and ravaging her in the bathtub.

Lisa meets Renee atop a bridge in Central Park and tells her of her troubling fantasies. She recounts one from when she and Bob had dined with the Van Zandts (Jamie Gillis and Marleen Willoughby) around an elegant table served by their own butler. Lisa imagines her hostess in S & M gear then her fantasy turns into a table top-fuck fest with her and the hostess lying on their backs while their beaus and the butler have their way with them. Lisa finally snaps back into reality hearing the question, "did you enjoy it, Lisa?" The meal, silly girl.

On an assignment, Lisa shoots a trio of beef cake dudes for some sort of underwear company and she soon finds herself in a blow bang and fuck fest fantasy with the fellas (David Ruby, George Payne and Joe Santini)on set.

At the halfway point in the flick, HOT DREAMS shifts back and forth between action in Lisa's apartment and another Lisa fantasy that happens at a health club.

Having borrowed the key to Lisa's apartment, Renee fields a phone call from a pervert calling on a public phone and gives him the phone number to Lisa and Bob's place. He calls and instructs Renee to get a mirror and repeat the words "cocks and fingers and tongues" while she masturbates. The annoying perv voice on the other end of the line fortunately takes a hiatus when Bob comes home, gets a blowjob and then doggy fucks Renee clutching the mirror and phone.

Meanwhile, Lisa's relaxing massage beside the pool at a health club turns into a wild fantasy that actually morphs into a sex scene dominated by the masseuse played by the busty, lovely Anna Ventura. The women suck in a 69 atop the table then they are joined by the lovely Joanna Storm. The guy from the club played by Kenny Dee also joins in. He fucks Anna atop the massage table then Lisa joins the duo for a swim the length of the pool to where Kenny fucks Anna again, this time, poolside. It's a terrific unpredictable encounter that gets an assist from someone off-camera that tosses a life preserver landing on Anna's boob while she's frantically fucking Dee.

The finale of HOT DREAMS finds Lisa's fantasy world left on shore as Bob enlists a buddy to take them out in the harbor for a terrific sequence with Manahattan attractions like the World Trade Center twin towers and The Statue of Liberty in the background. On board is the lovely Sharon Kane, who gets together with Lisa in girl/girl action that bookends this sex scene that also includes a three-way with Bob and the boat captain (Ashley Moore) joining them for couples action. It's a wonderfully shot sequence that suffers from its music video-type presentation as music dominates the audio track.

So, HOT DREAMS (1983) packs some terrific sexual encounters into its 80 or 85 minutes so check it out. Lisa'a vivid fantasies become well-staged sex scenes thanks to director Evans, who frequently points his camera at that oh so lovely backside of Sharon Mitchell. Also, give screen writer Evans credit for shifting from Lisa's string of fantasies in the first half to those solid encounters that feature Renee then the masseuse, which leads to the finale that's a sort of real-life fantasy come true when Lisa and Bob suck and fuck out in the harbor.

Let's give HOT DREAMS a !!!! 1/2 outta !!!!!

And now for some QUICKIES...

MIDNIGHT DESIRES (1976) was directed by Amanda Barton, which is just one of the many aliases attributed to Shaun Costello, who also worked under the alias of Warren Evans, the director credited for HOT DREAMS. Got that! In this earlier 72 minute flick, a couple (Eric Edwards and, I believe, Jenny Baxter) dine with an eccentric affluent couple (Jamie Gillis and C. J. Laing) then all share a sexual story. A series of vignettes ensue that match the personality of the character telling the tale; however, these sexual tales are so diverse and different that as a viewer you are bound to like one or two but not one or the other. In my case, I gravitated towards the males' stories, which were more modern; the females' stories that bookend this flick feature an S and M encounter at the outset and characters in garb from the British country side for the finale. !!! 1/2

Warren Evans enlists the lovely Loni Saunders to play BEAUTY (1982) in his version of Beauty and the Beast. Evans opens the flick with Beauty dancing in the arms of the prince (Jamie Gillis) and she's soon fucking him then the film flashes back to Beauty's journey into the world of the Beast. Along the way are mostly well-staged sexual encounters but Beauty does not engage in any until near the end of this 86 minute flick. And that interior sex scene featuring Loni and Paul Thomas on a couch is a let-down especially with music overwhelming the audio track. !!!
