I really did love the first "Double Feature". I thought it was hilarious, creative, and actually pretty hot. I didn't like "Bride of Double Feature" as much.
Since this is a porno, I'll start with an overview of the sex scenes. There actually is a good amount of sex in this film, with a little variety here and there. The sex actually was lacking a lot of heat at times. The stand out scenes had to be the threesome with Mickey G., Tabitha Stevens, and the Pizza Girl. There was a good amount of heat, and both women look very good, with a nice touch of diversity since the Pizza Girl had a more natural body, and darker hair, and Tabitha was more your typical blonde porn star. Also, you can tell that Tabitha is enjoying herself. Also, the orgy scene at the end of the movie had some pretty decent heat, and had a little more than the vanilla sex in "Double Feature". Now, I was a little shocked to see Anthony Crane participate in this scene, but I noticed something. When ever you see his character penetrating, he always seems to be hiding his face. I actuall think they may have used a stand in for him. The only time you ever do see his face, the penetration is blocked from view. There is also a scene between Asia Carrera and Randy Spears. I was very impressed by this scene, and I think Miss Carrera did an amazing job. She really is beautiful, and seems to be really in to the sex. Plus, Randy Spears has an amazing pop shot. The rest of the sex scenes are pretty good, although I think the scene between Mike Horner and Serenity was extremely weak. Mike seemed to be trying way to hard, and Serenity seemed to be faking it for a portion of the scene. Also, the scene between Tabitha Stevens and the butler, was very weak, with the actor playing the butler seeming to have wood trouble for most of it. Over all the sex was pretty good, and a tad bit more extreme than the first movie.
The movie itself is also not as funny as the first. Again we have three previews to start off the movie. Unlike the first film, we now have Tabitha Stevens added in to the mix, and I have to say, she does a great job. While the jokes aren't as good this time around, she really gets in to the comedy aspect of it, and seems to be having a blast. Also, unlike the first film, there is actually hardcore material in the previews. I actually think that's why the previews don't work as well this time. They don't stick to any form of comedy, and the sex scenes are to short to be all that exciting.
The first feature we see is "Shot in the Dark" and is really the weakest of the two. It starts out as your typical murder mystery, and again we get to see Tabitha Stevens playing the ditsy blonde. She is rather funny, and the threesome scene with her, Mickey G., and the Pizza Girl, is one of the stand outs in the movie, but the rest of the feature just falls flat. The focus also seems shifted from Serenity and Randy Spears, and over on to a much bigger cast. It's this factor that hurts everything the most. Both Randy and Serenity had some great sexual chemistry in the first movie, and a lot of that is lost here. Although Randy does do a good job with Asia, I have to say I miss the material he had with Serenity. This feature is fairly short, not very funny, and only mediocre in the sex department.
The second feature is a bit better. This time we have "Momo the Ape Guy". Randy Spears again plays the creature character, and is somewhat funny at first, but he does get a tad bit annoying. The sex in this feature is much hotter, although the scene with Mike Horner and Serenity is a dud. Comedy wise this peice is better, with Serenity giving a great monologue towards the end, and some very funny material involving a bear. I do have to say that the sex scene with Randy Spears as Momo and Serenity is interesting to watch, and kind of over looked a bit. I can understand why since Randy is dressed up like a caveman, but I think that Jonathan Morgan could have had more fun with it, like he did with cigerette gag in the first one. Instead we have a very quick sex scene, but a decent one.
The extras on the disc are pretty good, with a great behind the scenes video. You can definitely see that everyone invovled had a blast making this movie, and it helps the enjoyment of the film a good deal more, because it always is a good thing when you get the feeling that everyone wants to be doing what they are doing. You also get a rather bland commentary by the director, who is sorelly missing Serenity this time around. There are also the usual previews, photo galleries, and actor bios.
One thing to note here is the under use of Anthony Crane. He was a highlight in the first film, but seems rather bored and underused this time. They really should have tried to give him more to do, but I can understand that with a much bigger cast, and bigger budget, the story elements had to be cut down to make room for the sex scenes. This is a porno after all. Still, it would have been nice to see Anthony Crane do more in the comedy department. He is a better actor than he is a sexual performer.
The quality of the disc is great, with crips audio and visual. The movie is in widescreen for the story bits, and is in beautiful color for the sex scenes. There is one problem though. The audio commentary sounds very scratchy at points, although it does clean up as the movie goes along.
If you liked the first "Double Feature" you should check this one out, but if you haven't seen the first movie, get that instead. The couples safety of the first movie does not apply here, with the anal orgy, group sex, and double penetration shots are pushing it more towards the guys only arena. Some women my find the movie funny though. That's at your own discretion. It's a fairly good adult film, but the first was much better. Still, I have to recommend it, just because it's better than half the dreck out there.
