Initial Expectations: I’m really curious about this one since it’s the first movie to ever be released under the Wicked label.

Initial Reaction: The sex isn’t the best, but the movie’s a heck of a lot of fun.

Audio /Video Quality: For a ten year old movie, Arabian Nights looks and sounds better than a good portion of the movies that are made today. The audio is presented in 5.1 surround sound, which amazed me since the movie is old enough that porn fans were thinking two speakers was a darn good move up from the speakers on their TV. It’s clear and fairly well balanced, although the background noises get a bit loud in places. It’s matched with a clear and well lit picture that has a few barely noticeable remnants. Wicked normally does a very good job on their technical aspects, but they really appear to have went above and beyond the call of duty on Arabian Nights.

Music: The music varies in style and balance throughout the movie. Some of it is very nicely balanced, while other areas overpower all the other audio horribly, and it mixes in some Arabian style music, some techno, and some fairly typical porno music.

Menus: As usual, Wicked and David Crawford have put some nice effort into the menus. The main menu is nicely animated, and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a name for it.

The Feature: Private dick Sam J. Flywheel (Jonathan Morgan) and his faithful but not too bright assistant Roscoe (Steven St. Croix) head off to try to discover the mystical land of Aphrodesia thanks to gorgeous client Christina Dior. More specifically, they’re sent to find the magic lamp of Aphrodesia lest it fall into the wrong hands and be used to cause chaos and sex everywhere. They’re not the only ones searching for the lamp, as gun toting and black trenchcoat clad Russian spy Jenna Wells has been hired to follow them and find the lamp also.

Jonathan Morgan starts things out sealing the deal with gorgeous brunette Christina Dior. Jonathan kisses her passionately all over (where her passionately is I have no idea)/ He starts with her mouth, works down to her nicely natural tits, and finishes things up licking her nicely trimmed pussy. They finish stripping, and mix in quite a bit more kissing, before Christina gives Jonathan a little oral attention to get him ready. Surprisingly, they only fuck cowgirl style and end things with Jonathan popping on Christina’s ass, but the chemistry is hot enough that I really didn’t care that there was only one position. It’s not a great scene, but it is very good and shows that a little playfulness and a bunch of chemistry will do more for a scene than working through every position in a Kama Sutra book.

Steven St. Croix gets busy with rough looking brunette Jenna Wells in the second scene when she feels the need to repay him for the information he’s given her. She pulls off his pants to suck his schlong, and lets him help undress her later before climbing on to fuck him. They finish things with a little missionary action and Steven popping on Jenna’s hairy hoochie. It’s a pretty good scene with decent energy and chemistry, but the camera work and editing didn’t do much for me. I don’t think I ever saw the penetration and Steven and Jenna’s reaction to it in the same view once in the entire scene. Things seemed to go between softcore shots and extreme close-ups, a style I’ve always detested. Luckily Steven and Jenna are good enough here that I could still enjoy it.

Harem girls Lacy Rose, Sierra, and Porsche Lynn perform for Sean Michaels aka Sultan Saddam Omigosh before he leaves them to pleasure each other. Lacy and Sierra work on Porsche’s tits before they team up on Sierra’s snatch. Lacey gets her turn next, getting both of her holes tongued, before the girls team up on Porsche again. It’s a hot scene that had my motor running, despite some very limited camera angles that didn’t show much. Porsche, Sierra, and Lacy really seem to be into each other, and the scene works very well despite its faults and lack of decent distance shots.

Lacy Rose dances for and then gets busy with Sean Michaels after she accidently activates the lamp. He gives her twat a great tonguing and fingering that gets Lacy’s hips gyrating like crazy before she takes him into her throat. Lacy lets Sean fuck her missionary and doggie style, and even lets him bury the boner in her ass. Finally, he pulls out and pops on her great ass. It’s another pretty hot scene that’s held back from being really great due to the camera angles.

Porsche Lynn uses the lamp to take on the Sultan’s eunuch Haffadolla (Julian St. Jox) in the penultimate scene while Sean Michaels is gone. Sean returns as Porsche sucks Julian, but can’t resist the lamp and drops his pants so Porsche can suck him right down to the base while she rides Julian’s tongue. She lets each guy fuck her pussy before having Julian and Sean team up on her and give her a DP. Porsche finally takes Julian’s pop across her tongue before she has Sean decorate her face. It’s another hot scene that actually has a little better camera work. As usual, there’s plenty of chemistry and a lot of fun.

Finally, Melanie Moore and Sierra get busy with Steven St. Croix after he takes Jonathan Morgan out of the equation. The three of them warm each other up orally before Steven takes Melanie missionary style and Sierra doggie style. As he fucks them, the other girl always stays involved, which is where Melanie really shines. She plays with Sierra’s tits and lets her suck her fingers, as well as moving back to suck Steven’s nipples and lick his jizz off Sierra’s back and ass after Steven blows his nut butter all over it. This is a great scene to end things with, and is probably my favorite out of the entire movie. It has some of the same drawbacks as the other scenes, but they don’t seem as pronounced here.

Arabian Nights is a guilty pleasure type of movie, especially for a porno. The sex is very limited thanks to camera work that almost never shows both the penetration and the girl’s reaction. It’s almost like they shot a softcore movie and then stuck in a few extreme close-ups to get it up to the XXX rating. I hate this style of adult film, but couldn’t help but like Arabian Nights. The scenes all have great chemistry, nice energy, and an amazing sense of humor which helps each and every scene go way beyond where they should have for me. It’s also helped out by a fun script which Jonathan Morgan and Steven St. Croix play for laughs so well that I actually wanted to see more of them in the movie! They even show enough acting skill here to stay in character through most of the sex, which is something extremely rare even today. That’s right. The guys made Arabian Nights for me, and despite its faults, it’s so fun I can’t wait to watch another episode in the series.

The usual wicked extras of promotional materials, the Wicked Casino, a company profile, web links, and a list of Wicked’s award winning and nominated DVDs are also here, as well as bloopers and several photo galleries. The main photo gallery lasts two minutes with six seconds per very nice looking photo, especially when one realizes that the movie is ten years old now. Star galleries lasting between a minute and a minute and a quarter are also included for Porsche Lynn, Sierra, Melanie Moore, Christina Dior, and Jenna Wells.

The blooper reel lasts about seven and a quarter minutes. There’s plenty of flubbed lines here, and you can tell that the cast is having a lot of fun. Most of the action is around Jonathan Morgan and Steven St. Croix, but there’s a few bits with the other cast members too. I have to give Wicked some credit here, since I would have never expected an extra like this on a movie this old.

Overall: Currently, many of Wicked’s DVDs can be found online for between $15 and $30 with many stores offering them for around $21. Although I don’t care for the style the sex was captured with, there’s enough chemistry there and the movie’s fun enough that I can’t help but recommend it. The transfer’s excellent for the age of the movie, and there’s even some fun extras.

Note to Wicked: You did a good job here, but I would have liked a couple more extras, especially because this was the first Wicked movie. A retrospective with people like Jim Enright, Jonathan Morgan, and especially Steve Orenstein talking about how Wicked has changed over time would have been really great here.
