Roommates (Video-X-Pix) Review

Review:
It's a hefty dose of reality--and reality ain't always fair--for a trio of young women trying to chase down their dreams and make their way through the dirt and grime that is the Big Apple of the early 1980's. Indeed, "Roommates" from Chuck Vincent and Video-X-Pix, an exceptional, 1981 release, brings together a former prostitute trying to escape her past (Samantha Fox), a drug-addicted model who seems to find trouble everywhere she turns (Kelly Nichols), and an aspiring actress from out of town (Veronica Hart) as newly-minted roomies in the rough life of NYC. Quickly bonding, the women go through all manner of life's trials and tribulations together, often finding solace and comfort solely in one another's arms. As much a true film as a sex film, if not even more so, this fine feature will absolutely appeal to hardcore fans of the genre. The acting is superb all-around, particularly that of Ms. Hart, and the plot is both well-thought-out and engrossing. The settings are realistic, and the characters are believable, well-developed, and relatable. The only downside--and it's not a big one--is that the sex falls a bit on the light side (quantity-wise), and the cum doesn't flow as freely in this production as it does in others from its period. Regardless, its other more-complex elements are easily enough to compensate for this perceived shortcoming and to make this flick a solid, all-around recommendation. For fans of the classics and adult films from the era when they actually gave enough of a shit to try to make them actual "films", this one is most certainly not to be missed.

In terms of the sex, Scene One pairs up the stunning Veronica Hart and her married lover, Don Peterson, for a quick and less-than-fulfilling (from Hart's perspective) romp in a hotel room (oral, vaginal). In Scene Two, the drug-addled blonde, Kelly Nichols, heads home with a guy, Ron Hudd, whom she meets at a local disco while high (psychedelic slow-motion, oral, vaginal). Scene Three finds Veronica with Don Peterson again, this time for a quick, top-down BJ with a supposed oral cum-shot...which she immediately spits into the toilet in the bathroom. In Scene Four, the cute, brunette spinner, Samantha Fox, brings home an advertising professional with whom she works, Jack Wrangler, for some bedroom boinking (vaginal). Scene Five features a dark, shot-from-a-distance, softcore gang-rape of Kelly on a dirty mattress on a set. Jamie Gillis, who's watching from the corner, breaks up the affair when the guys stuff a bottle up her (not shown). Instantly, he turns from a good guy into a bad guy, however, as he whips out his cock and jerks off to completion on her nude, semi-conscious body (Scene Six). In Scene Seven, a reluctant Samantha takes one for the team and jerks off a company client, Ron Jeremy, in a hotel room. She brings him to orgasm and then goes right back in with her mouth and pussy (oral, vaginal). Scene Eight has Jamie Gillis taking Kelly out on a "date" to a fancy restaurant, only to drug her up, talk her out of her panties (at the table), and give her a quick foot-job (also at the table). In Scene Nine, Veronica and her co-star in an off-Broadway play, Jerry Butler, partake in a romantic candlelit encounter on a fur rug (vaginal). Scene Ten finds Bobby Astyr, Samantha's boss, forcing her to give him a BJ in the bathroom of a set upon which they're working. She spits his supposed load on his shoes. Wild.
