Review:
After a severe car accident that results in facial reconstruction and also while acting under the influence of a sexually obsessed and overbearing boyfriend / husband (Matthew Armon), a young woman named Eve ultimately finds herself wrapped up in the deviant debauchery of the swingers lifestyle of the early-70's. Such is the case in "Resurrection of Eve", an overall-good, 1973 classic from Artie Mitchell and Jon Fontana. Featuring a trio of actresses in the part of Eve (Nancy Weich, Mimi Morgan, and the legendary Ivory Snow girl herself, Marilyn Chambers), this flick certainly remains true to its era, delivering a trippy storyline that maintains the audience's interest throughout. At times, however, there is seemingly superfluous material interjected (i.e. a number of minutes devoted to a stage variety show), and the sex could be better at points, as well (i.e. much of the early action is essentially softcore.) The first scene's theme is also extraordinarily unappealing, particularly in a more modern context. That said, Marilyn, Mimi, and Kandi are all exemplary beauties, and the orgy sequences toward the end of the film are generally exceptional. Overall, this release is a mixed bag, but it's recommendable for those seeking out the classics that shaped the adult genre and / or for fans of Ms. Chambers (RIP).
In terms of the sex, Scene One is something of a super-creeper flashback sequence, as it features Nancy Weich, made up to look young (...though she's clearly over-age...), being taken advantage of by the much older Dale Meador. He coaxes her into oral sex...him on her and vice versa...before her mother breaks up the goings-on. This is honestly one of the most disturbing and unerotic sequences that I've yet encountered. It simply feels wrong on so many levels, and it doesn't contribute meaningfully to the plot.
In Scene Two, Kandi Johnson talks her boyfriend and radio DJ, Matthew Armon, into some post-dinner nookie. She gives him a bit of head, and a touch of softcore fucking follows.
Scene Three pairs up Matthew Armon with Mimi Morgan after taking her on a tour of his station. This one's softcore.
In Scene Four, Mimi Morgan and Matthew Armon get down to more business after cut sequences illustrate the development of their relationship. This time, he eats her out and fucks her (...both briefly...).
Scene Five once again brings together Mimi Morgan and Matthew Armon, this time in a more hardcore sequence featuring both a fuck and a BJ. Also, Matthew's mind trips out at times, giving way to his own insecurities, and he envisions Mimi sucking Johnnie Keyes' cock instead of his own. (Matthew's character has a major inferiority complex when it comes to the BBC and his girl, which actually drives many of the key plot elements of the film. Taken in total, this provides something of an interesting glimpse into the racial perceptions of the time.)
In Scene Six, Matthew Armon and Marilyn Chambers, who's taken the place of Mimi Morgan's Eve character post-reconstructive surgery, partake in some oral and vaginal action punctuated by Matthew's incessant discussions of swinging. Again, while there are some hardcore elements, this sequence is mostly softcore.
Scene Seven features an orgy that Matthew Armon's talked Marilyn Chambers into attending. Clad in togas, it doesn't take everyone--except Marilyn--long to start the party. There's plenty of oral and vaginal action in this relatively short-lived sequence, much of it hardcore.
In Scene Eight, it's another orgy very similar to the last, but this time, Marilyn Chambers does partake in the festivities, albeit reluctantly.
Scene Nine pairs up Marilyn Chambers and Matthew Armon's African American friend from work at a 50's-themed swingers party for some quick BJ action.
In Scene Ten, it's yet another orgy, again with Marilyn Chambers' participation. Oral and vaginal action abound...much of it of the oiled-up variety. This one is large, weird, and features some cum-shots. Marilyn has evolved to enjoy such carnal festivals, at this point.
Scene Eleven has Marilyn Chambers getting it on with Johnnie Keyes on one sofa, as a distracted and frustrated Matthew Armon and his former girl, Kandi Johnson, fuck it out on another. This all takes place in a large hall featuring live music and a full-fledged orgy (including some gay stuff) as a backdrop. The camera effectively cuts around the room during the goings-on, pacing well with the sex, the music, and the emotional buildup and capturing juicy tidbits of the action. The pre-sex dancing by Marilyn and Johnnie is not to be missed, nor is the look of dismay on Matthew's face when he sees them in the throes of passion.
In all, this overall-good release from Artie Mitchell and Jon Fontana has its ups and its downs and is by no means perfect. Its strengths lie predominantly in its plot, its dirty orgies near the end, and Marilyn Chambers' and Mimi Morgan's beauty, sexuality, and acting. As noted, it's a mixed bag...but, all things considered, it's recommendable.
