Synopsis:
The Los Angeles police are investigating a murder/robbery and have to figure out who did it. The film plays off of the popular television show NYPD Blue.

Video/Audio:
NYDP Blue is presented in the full screen aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the film. The video is decent but does have a few video glitches and one brief problem with pixilation during one of the scenes. Other than that the video is beautiful as we all have come to expect from Wicked Pictures. The color levels are correct.

The original audio track, a 2.0 English Stereo track, is included on the disc along with some dubbed tracks. The audio tracks are decent but suffer from some production problems. For some reason sounds in the film, like walking, typing, etc, are rather loud and can be distracting. Other than that the audio tracks are more than adequate for the film. There are also 2.0 dubbed Stereo tracks for French and Spanish and there are no subtitle options available.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are eight chapters available from the main menu for NYDP Blue and 13 chapters available from inside the film itself. They are identified by a video clip and a name for each scene. There is a time code for the feature film, so time searching is available.

Special Features:
As usual, Wicked has put several extras on the disc, however, this time around very few of them deal with the feature film. Apparently this film was old enough that they don't have much for it. There is a behind the scenes photo gallery that contains 20 stills on a track. There is the main photo gallery, which also contains 20 stills on a track. Then there are the star galleries, which all contain 20 photos on a track for Tabitha, Domonique Simone, Kaitlyn Ashley, and Chelsea Blue. There are also biographies containing audio and text information, photos and a Wicked filmography for Domonique Simone, Tabitha, Kaitlyn Ashley, Chelsea Blue, Jonathan Morgan, Tom Byron, and T.T. Boy.

That's it for the extras that are related to the feature film, as for the ones that aren't there are the promotional reels from the adult conventions for the years 1998 through 2001. There are the Wicked Pictures AVN Award winners and nominations for the years 1994 through 2001, which is a text feature on a track. There is the company profile, which is a text feature on a track that contains the history of Wicked Pictures. There is an advert for the Free Speech Coalition. And last, but not least, are trailers for Hell on Heels, Knockout, Dream Quest, Sex Safari, Working Girl, Pornogothic, The Bride of Double Feature!, The Kissing Game, Vengeance, Satyr, Double Feature!, and Flashpoint.

DVD-ROM Special Features:
The DVD-ROM interface is PC Friendly Enhanced. The Wicked Casino is a free casino program that you have to install on your computer that allows you to play casino style games online against opponents for Wicked Cash or just by yourself for fun. The available casino games are Black Jack, Roulette, Baccarat, Slots and Poker.

Review:
This is the first time that I have seen a film by Wicked and have to say that I just didn't enjoy it too much. The story is lame, but more than acceptable for the film. It moves the film along and connects the sex scenes together. The sets are very simplistic, maybe too simplistic as you never really get the feel that you are in a police precinct at any time during the film. NYDP Blue ends up being nothing more than your stereotypical porn film. You have your plot piece, then enter the cheesy porn music and you are off to the sex scene.

The cast is very attractive but the sex scenes were lacking. I don't quite know what was wrong with them but something wasn't there. The cast interacts well with each other during the sex scenes and unlike the title might suggest, the sex scenes are relatively tame, making this an acceptable movie for the couples audience. The sexual themes in the film are oral, anal and vaginal sex with female masturbation, lesbianism and DP. For viewers who care about such things, there were no condoms used in the film.

Probably the worst thing about the film is the filming technique. The plot portions of the film are shot with one camera which whizzes this way and that to catch the cast member that is currently speaking. This technique isn't too bad when there are people in close proximity speaking, but when one person is on one side of the room and the other is on the opposite side, the spinning can make you dizzy. This style makes the filming look very erratic. Luckily this filming technique was not used for the sex scenes. The filming of the sex scenes is not without problems though, there were way too many close up shots during the sex for my taste.

The Money Shot:
Fans of one of the stars or fans of the film will probably want to pick up this title. Others, especially fans of nasty sex or viewers who don't like a plot, will probably want to skip this title. If nothing else this film could make a decent rental.
