Initial Expectations: Jim Enright has made some very funny movies in the past. This looks like it could be another with a nastier sex aspect to it.

Initial Reaction: It’s okay, but not one of Wicked’s best.

Audio /Video Quality: Right from the start I was slightly disappointed in the technical aspects of the feature. There’s a small bar across the bottom of the of the screen that’s through the entire opening credits. I think I’ve seen the same LA backdrop before, so I’m pretty sure it’s just that worn out. When the actual movie starts, the video gets back up to Wicked’s normal above average transfer. The audio is pretty good, especially for the age of the feature. It’s fairly clear and has a decent balance.

Music: The music is your typical mid nineties porn music. It’s almost laughable at times, but very well balanced with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The menus are your typical Wicked menus, which means they’re very well done. They’re all nicely animated, which gives the movie a great first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a name for the scene.

The Feature: As with most cop shows, somebody’s been knocked off and the cops want to find out who did it. Unlike most cop shows where the cops have to look for leads, interrogate people, and go to the scene of the crime, these cops also have the added challenge of working without their pants on for much of the time. There’s also the very strong possibility that one of their own might have been in on it.

T. T. Boy starts things out with the often missed Kaitlyn Ashley in an interrogation room. They’ve had a fling in the past, and although T. T. starts out fighting her off, Kaitlyn’s magical mouth soon convinces him that maybe she has a point or two. After sucking his cock a bit, Kaitlyn strips down to reveal her oversized implants and then goes back to giving T. T. a fairly sloppy blow. She doesn’t bother having him lick her slit, and instead hops on for a fairly aggressive reverse cowgirl ride. She relaxes a bit as T. T. fucks her missionary style, and then takes it in the ass as T. T. thrusts his cock through her backdoor from behind. T. T. brings her down to take his pop on her face, and she’s thankfully spared the eye pop when most of the spray misses her completely. It’s a pretty average scene, even for Kaitlyn. The camera work is pretty well done up to the anal, but as soon as Kaitlyn starts taking it in the poop chute the camera switches over to mostly gyno-cam, which I normally don’t like a lot of. I’m not sure if there’s a single instance in the anal portion where you can see both T. T. fucking Kaitlyn’s ass and the look on her face as he does it.

Jonathan Morgan tries to convince fellow cop Yasmine Pendavis, a decent looking black woman, that he wants to be with her rather than his wife. Once again the action goes from oral directly to the main event, with Yasmine letting Jonathan bone her from behind on her desk. As they fuck, Tabitha, a very attractive woman who looks like she might has quite a bit of Latino in her, watches them and plays with herself a little. At least, I think she’s watching. The audio has all of them on it, yet Tabitha had left before the scene began. You also never see them all in the same shot, or Jonathan or Yasmine acknowledge Tabitha. Tabitha’s sequences are pretty hot, but Jonathan and Yasmine are barely even average. It works out to another scene that hovers around average.

After taking her back to her cell, Tabitha tries to convince Dominique Simone to cooperate with their investigation, or at least her. They start off with some decent kissing, and then work their way back and forth quite a bit as they let their tongue do the work. Although it’s pretty rare now days, there’s no toy action. Surprisingly, there isn’t even any finger action even when they finish things up in a sixty nine. It’s a slightly above average scene with some very good chemistry.

Cute and natural bodied brunette Chelsea Blue decides to let both T. T. Boy and Tom Byron, who’s looking like he’s seen the inside of plenty of police departments, in on her action. Tom starts out tonguing and fingering her twat and ass while T. T. fucks Chelsea’s face. The guys take turns poking her pussy, and then team up for a nicely energetic double penetration. The only bad things about it is that at the end of the double penetration the picture fades out and then comes back in for the double facial. It’s a pretty hot scene, with almost all the credit going to Chelsea’s great enthusiasm.

Finally, Dominique Simone takes on Scottie in the interrogation room. He tongues her twat and ass before she shows off her oral skills on his member. They move on through a bit of doggie and missionary before Scottie decorates her bush with a little extra creaminess. It’s a pretty average scene that’s once again held back by way too many gyno-cam shots.

NYDP Blue is a pretty average porno that fans of NYPD Blue will probably enjoy a lot more than me, since I’ve never watched a single episode. The plot is simple and predictable, which I guess is to be expected here. The sex is mostly pretty average, although Tabitha and Chelsea Blue do stand nicely above the rest of the cast. The biggest problem is that much of the camera work and editing feel very basic. It’s the same feel that many of the early to mid nineties pornos had, and one that most people seem very glad things have moved past. Many things about NYDP Blue seem dated, right down to the title. I fully expected this to be a nastier Wicked movie (which they have shown they can do very well) due to the DP in the title. Back when it first came out, double penetrations weren’t as common as they are today, and the thought probably wouldn’t have been there. I know when I first saw it on the shelf four or five years ago in the video store the thought of double penetrations never even crossed my mind. It’s just one of those things that change with the times. When it was released, NYDP Blue was probably quite a bit above average, but now it’s only average at best.

Wicked’s standard bios are included for Dominique Simone, Tabitha, Kaitlyn Ashley, Chelsea Blue, Jonathan Morgan, Tom Byron, and T. T. Boy. Of course, there’s also promotional material, the Wicked Web, Wicked Casino, a commercial for the Free Speech Coalition, a company profile, and a list of Wicked’s award winning and nominated features.

Raincoat Factor: Medium high

Overall: Most Wicked DVDs can be found online for between $22 and $30 with many stores offering them for around $25. Rent this one before you spend the big bucks since it’s not quite up to Wicked’s normal high standards. The movie is pretty average, as is the transfer. There also isn’t much for extras.

Note to Wicked: It’s great to see you bringing out some of your older movies on DVD, and also transferring them into other languages. It would be nice to see if you could release these at a slightly lower price than your top of the line titles as they aren’t as packed as some of your other titles.
