You have to admire Veronica Hart's courage in attempting a musical remake of "The Opening of Misty Beethoven" the greatest adult film of all time. This movie features Randy Spears in the Gillis role, Chloe in the Jacqueline Beaudant role, and Sunset Thomas as Misty Beethoven, the part played by Constance Money in the original. The movie is okay, but suffers greatly by comparison with the original. Obviously, there are no exterior shots in Rome, Paris, and New York, as there are in the original, but that is to be expeced. The real problem is that the movie is not as funny nor as erotic as the original. The plot doesn't really work, and completely falls apart at the end. Oh, sure, the sex is better lighted, and is filmed much more clearly and explicitly than in the original, but good lighting does not equal eroticism. And as to the music, the less said the better. Did anyone really need to see a musical number featuring a talking dildo? I didn't think so.

One of the things that was funny in the original was the constant casual oral sex that was always being performed on the principals by people playing their domestic staff. Hart tries to reproduce that here, but doesn't quite get the tone right, because she can't quite make it casual enough.

Another missed opportunity was that the plot features a couple of short scenes with "Dr. Seymour Love," who was played by Jamie Gillis in the original. Why not use Jamie Gillis in a cameo? And if you can't have Jamie Gillis, why put Seymour Love in the movie?
