An interviewer (John Christopher) walks the streets of New York speaking with Dr. Joy Love, (Molly Malone) a sex therapist, who reveals the secrets of 'The Love Syndrome', a breakthrough treatment in the fight against boredom in marriages. Her therapist partner, Dr. Harry Reems, away at work in Sweden, appears via flashback in a number of "filmed sessions" where Dr. Reems comes to the rescue of many a bored person or couple.

No surprise that nobody wants to take directing credit for THE LOVE SYNDROME, (1979-Cal Vista, 2008-VCX Cal Vista Classic standard frame re-release) a strange mish-mash of stray Harry Reems scenes strung together via this lame interview, which serves more as coitus-interuptus than anything else. Watching THE LOVE SYNDROME echoes watching THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW in a movie theater when everyone hisses and boos whenever The Criminologist appears. Here, the observations of Dr. Love Joy, The Therapist, interrupt these Dr. Reems suck and fuck sessions (boo, hiss) with different one-flick-wonders. (actresses that appeared in few if any other xxx films)

But wait, once the Harry Reems scenes run out, the producers of THE LOVE SYNDROME add an unrelated scene where Merle Michaels drives a car around New York with Samantha Fox and Bobby Astyr sucking and fucking in the back seat. It's a fun scene (!!!) but it's tagged onto the end then the trio are given top billing in the credits. Meanwhile, the DVD sleeve claims that Samantha Fox and Harry Reems "team up" here; they do not.

We now interrupt this bad review for a series of piss-poor and scant scene discriptions from THE LOVE SYNDROME:

"One helluva technique" is just one of many interruptions during this scene between Reems and a honey blonde that ends with mish, reverse cowgirl, Reems jacking off and honey blonde cleaning up---! 1/2

"A fine time" interrupts Dr. Joy Love in one of her many interruptions as a secreataty watches a couple through a key hole then joins them---! 1/2

A lesbian hides in the closet (the DVD cover uses this particular dark shadowy image) and watches Dr. Reems suck and fuck her lover on the couch---!!

The lesbian comes out of the closet and surprises Dr. Reems who sucks and fucks her on the same couch. After some cowgirl and reverse cowgirl riding, our long haired beauty with small boobs kneels in the couch for a shadowy facial finisher and kissing! Dr. Joy Love interruptions, some poor, butt and balls close-ups and no lesbian action kill this scene---!!

Dr. Joy Love explains their success with a male homosexual who wanted to be heterosexual (huh?) in a terrible threeway with a red head sucking Dr. Reems and the dude who wants to be straight---!

Dr. Reems takes another gal to a "therapy room," yep, another couch, where the long limbed gal with long hair rides cowgirl and takes Dr. Reems cumshot on her butt---! 1/2

"Oh my god that's me and my wife" interrupts the interviewer as a gal and two dudes suck and fuck on a waterbed. Cute gal with a nice body looks horrible with a wig or possibly a bad afro. At this point, who really cares?---!!

No one really cares especially when you hear the lame music track with piss-poor moaning and groaning sounds for the duration of these compiled Harry Reems scenes.

Final rating for THE LOVE SYNDROME (1979-Cal Vista, VCX-2008) is ! outa !!!!! for trying to make a movie out of these ancient Harry Reems scenes and for VCX's misleading claims on the DVD sleeve. Extras include the usual assortment of VCX-Cal vista classic trailers and bonus scenes, a photo gallery and legendary tribute.
