Tongue in Groove's
Start Me Up is a French production, which tells you about all you need to know. The French, after all, have given the world the Concorde and not much else. This DVD suffers from MTV video-type filming and editing, an obnoxious soundtrack, too much slo-mo, and overly-done special effects. Its an artsy film that tries too hard to resemble a Ninn Worx project and fails along the way. The girls are decent looking, with Rita Faltoyano leading the bevy of beauties. Mia Panther, Laura Stevens, and Cameron Cruise round out the pack. The sex, when visible through all the special effects, is uninspired. There is a definitive lack of heat between the performers. The male talent is not identified. The DVD extras include a Cumshot Loop, Website info, DVD credits, and a Photo Gallery. [read the full review]

Title: Start Me Up Released by: Erotic Media "Start Me Up" is one of those simple theme-driven fantasy videos along the lines of Michael Ninn, although this thankfully doesnt really go all-out into the "artistic porn" category. Although made in Europe, this video can be viewed anywhere because theres no dialog at all. No lines to badly dub into English, no emotions to convey, no plots to complicate. Everything is done to a nice hypnotic techno beat. Unfortunately, that also means that you cant hear the actors enjoying themselves. I suppose you have to take the bad with the good. Our visual odyssey begins with a little two-seater European car pulling into a huge garage. The guy gets out of the compact car and heads upstairs into the office to meet with the boss. She silently gestures him to have a seat and wait while she finishes with her phone call. Back downstairs, the girl gets out of the car to stretch her legs and read a magazine. [read the full review]

Scent Of Desire, The (Le Perfum Du Desir) review summaries:
lindi's
Description This is a couples feature with condom use, and filmed in French, but with an English soundtrack option. A group of young men and women visit a friend in the countryside, and they wander off in pairs to have sex. General Impression It's beautifully shot, with both indoor and outdoor scenes, and the cast are very good-looking young people. The sex is also good, but slow in places. There's a positively dreamy, slow, languidness to a lot of the scenes. The women often seem very passive. And some scenes are abruptly interrupted, to continue later. It has a few things that I really liked -- for example, realistic tease. Not just women teasing the men, but the men teasing the women a little. And not "Spread your butt-cheeks, baby," tease, but natural tease like pressing up against each other, withdrawing a bit, giving an inviting look. It was much more what you'd do with another person, rather than what you do for a camera. Sex Melanie nods off as the group is traveling by car to Phillippe's house. [read the full review]

The Scent of Desire (le parfum du desir) Wicked/Video Marc Dorcel Feature, Foreign Starring: Melanie Coste, Monica Sweetheart, Lea De Mae, Tiffany Diamond, Phillippe Dean, Titof, Valentina Valli, Ian Scott, Marc Barrow, Mia Panther, Pascal St. James, Sheherezade, Phil Holliday, and Titus Steel Directed By: Angela Tiger Running Time:Feature: 95 minutes, Total: 106 minutes RATINGS Feature:6.5 +Extras:5.5 Sex:6.18 TOTAL:6.06 FEATURE This will be the second Marc Dorcel/Wicked release I have reviewed. I had very mixed feelings about the first one. It had beautiful women and a well done plot, but extremely short sex scenes. This is by a different director so hopefully it will be better. The menus on this DVD are magnificent, though the extras are scant at best. I really like the audio on this movie. There are a few weird video blips but otherwise the picture is great. The scenes are all at or under ten minutes long, which doesn't cut it. The camera work and editing are bad, the director must have A.D.D. [read the full review]

Although the plot for The Scent of Desire never quite reaches its full potential, the sex in the film is incredibly hot and the film looks absolutely beautiful. The sex is tame enough that most couples audiences shouldn't have a problem with it and the movie visually resembles a mainstream film more than an adult video. If you've liked other titles from Marc Dorcel or like a plot-based adult film with excellent production values, it's hard to go wrong with this title. Hustler has repackaged their two part Arsenic film series into this box set. Given that this film isn't as good as Pierre Woodman is capable of, buying this box set makes a much better value for fans of the film and the cast members. Viewers who like a real plot with their film, nasty sex, very tame sex or hate the intrusion of any form of plot will want to skip this title. Fans of Woodman or the cast members might want to check out the title, but a rental is probably a better choice so if you don't want to watch the film again you don't feel ripped off. Hustler Platinum 4: Arsenic review summaries:

I wish the story had been better and the sex scenes had fit into the film better, however, Arsenic - Part 1 isn't a bad film, it's more of an average adult film. Viewers who don't care about a story, but also don't mind the presence of one, and sex featuring a lot of anal, will have the best chance at enjoying this film. Viewers who hate the presence of a plot or like tame sex will want to pass on this title. If you want to follow the plot, you'll want to rent or pick up Arsenic - Part 2 at the same time so you can follow the complete story. If you are interested in the film, I'd recommend a rental before a purchase to make sure this is one that you want in your permanent collection. [read the full review]
