Debbie Loves Dallas review summaries:
Rick L. Blalock's
Debbie Loves Dallas does what other doesladen (yep, made-up word) Debbie remakes couldn't, or rather, wouldn't. Ok, so here, Debbie comes face to face with that Eon McKai character (2006 AVN award winner), no stranger to deconstructing adult film's most treasured franchises. Shot for cable television series Debbie Does Dallas Again, Eon fought to bring us the ultimate porno melting pot - an ensemble cast that's the who's who of porn's alt, proper and past, a completely fresh take on a classic adult film, and the cynical humor that we've come to expect from him. So, now Debbie's crushing on the synth-pop sensation Dallas, trying to hook up with the lead singer, and...confused? I bet...well, get used to it because this summer's hottest, feel-good, date movie is not being shown at the multiplex - you're looking at it! Oh, and we suggest screening it with mixed company. Tristram's
A remake of Debbie does Dallas that's really not a remake; instead of being about cheerleaders it's about groupies and instead of taking place in Dallas there's a band called Dallas. What this means is that in this movie the girls quite literally get to do Dallas. It features decent sex of the alt variety, and looks good in terms of style, but the story parts of it unfortunately suffer from misplaced attempts at irony and off-kilter dialogue that's supposed to be funny but really is just a pain to sit through. Man's Ruin review summaries:
Zorge's
Winkytiki follows up his excellent Vivid.alt debut (Rebelle Rousers) with another loosely knitted vignette style film. It has a sort of playful sci-fi feel. The tagline is "A sexy hero trapped in a game of perversion!" and "One girl on a rescue mission faces evil perversion!" That's basically the thread that ties this together. Melodie Gore is your hero, and she'll be featured in interludes between scenes, looking hot, and come back at the end in some form to save the day. The movie has a very lighthearted feel and it's all very tongue-in-cheek. I think it's pretty fun and the cast is sexy. The sex isn't overly rough, and there is no anal intercourse, there is girl-girl. Some of the set ups are quite odd, though. Winkytiki certainly doesn't take himself very seriously, but he does aim to have high quality sets and to make the talent and the sex look great on film. I think he succeeds. [read the full review]
